i saw them for sale at a pet store and got them to fill up my empty tank at home, i got them around june, and it is now december, the have grown a bit, i only have 2,
my frogs do no eat like yours, i have sinking pebbles and they float to the bottom of the tank where the frogs look for them for about 15 mins,
Hey how does your frogs hold up with the air bubbles in the tank? I keep reading bad things about mixing the frogs and the airstone together because of their lateral line yet I keep finding videos of people with both anyway. I'm just interested to know because I like airstones. I'm just a little nervous about adding it to my tank with three acf's. Please let me know!
yo I def wouldent keep more then to frogs per 10 gal tank for very long mine are still juveniles well big juveniles and my 10gal tank gets hella dirty I cant amagen haveing more. I love my girls but I find my self careing for there ph levels alot and cleaning alot. Once they get a bit bigger its time for a 20 gal long.
They need 10 gallons PER frog. More than that and you will continually have water quality problems. If in the appropriate sized tank and on the correct diet, your water should not get dirty like that. The main reason for dirty water is overfeeding and too small of a tank.
I never check my ph balances, and have not done so in about 25 years now. I used to, but no reason to if you have everything set up correctly.
Why do you keep a bubbler in there? It is thought that bubblers may cause gas bubble disease. Also, how does cleaning go with the river rocks? My frogs eat gravel, but I want a substrate.. It just seems like they would be too hard to clean underneath of.
I have had air stones in their tanks for over 30 years with no problems as of yet. River rocks are great to use. Very easy to clean, and the frogs can't swallow them.
Do you have to take them all out of the tank every cleaning or do you just use the siphon to get as much of the trapped particles out from under them as possible?
I use a syphon most of the time, then every few months I do a total breakdown of the tanks. I good syphon will get most everything out from under the rocks becuase the particles are so small.
I have 10 small african clawed frogs in a 5 gallon tank. Their so cool, i cant wait until they grow up. I might switch them to a 10 gallon when their older. 6 black and 4 white.
O well lole 6 months so far. But i see where ur going with this. They won't live up to 11 years like urs. Maybe like 5. But hey, is it ok if i keep like 6 or 8 frogs in a 10 gallon tank? I mean they seem to love it and have plenty of room to swim.. Whats ur expert opinion
Trust me its african clawed frog, my friend. They aren;t fully grown like the ones in this vid. They are very young. They are in 10 gallon now, and i will give some back, because they are getting bigger.
The hands aren't webbed first of all. And they are nothing like dwarf frogs.
Someone ask about drawf frogs. Drawfs only get about 1-1/2" long and have webbed front feet. These are African Clawed Frog that get about 5" long and yes they do get big and fat and happy! :) I have 3 that I have fallen in love with. I get worms from a bait store and they love them. They love plants and hidy holes to protect their eyes from direct light. They are beautiful to me!
Thanks for your expert advise on my frogs which are now almost 11 years old, and still doing just fine. I guess me keeping this type of frog for 31 years pales in comparison to your vast knowledge.
wow that is ace. I have just bought a little albino one, but can't get him to feed yet. Tried frozen blood worm, but I might have to get some live ones to tempt him..

do you find the frogs are ok to live with goldfish or do they eat them??
can they live with other water creatures??
dander93 3 years ago
They will eat almost anything they can grab ahold of. Also goldfish are horrible feeders for frogs anyhow.

They should be kept at ten gallons per frog. That many in a small tank like that will have a very shortened life.
BIGHYDRO 3 years ago
WRONG. I raised 2 frogs in like prolly half a gallon tank. Their all nice and big and fat now like urs.
Conservative77 3 years ago
How long did you have them?

The more room you give these frogs the happier and healthier they will be. I have 6 in a 40 gallon breeder tank and I think that's kind of tight.
wcrimi3 3 years ago
yeah, that's a little too small actually. They need a minimum of ten gallons per frog

these are ace, would 2 or 3 be ok in a 9 gallon aquarium???
i have the heater and i gess they need a filter?
Joe1507 4 years ago
The general rule is 1 frog per ten gallons. Mine have a little more room than that, but only because I had the extra tanks to spare.
BIGHYDRO 4 years ago
you serious, in pets at home they have a 10 gallon tank with 10 of these init and they seem fine :O
Joe1507 4 years ago
Are you sure they aren't dwarfs?
BIGHYDRO 4 years ago
ummm they might be dwarfs, or babies i dont know, but theyre about the size of a 50 pence piece lol, how big are these
Joe1507 4 years ago
The biggest in this video is over five inches.
BIGHYDRO 4 years ago
ok, what size are these when their babys?
i think the ones in the pet shop are dwarfs.
