I have to say, having been to New York only once, that the Statue Of Liberty was not the main attraction. Yeah, it's iconic because of how people publicize it, and it's good to have one trip there, but it's nothing compared to just walking through the city and experiencing the vibrancy of it all. I would never hype up just one statue, because a city is never about just one building, it's about the general feel of it all. Just walk through this vibrant city and it hooks you in, it's just amazing!

I visited New York once. It was hot and smoggy. The pavements were overcrowded with angry people. I was warned not to travel on the subway. The streets were filthy & crammed with homeless. All the shops are very expensive and full of cheap rubbish. The restaurants are dirty & the food is tasteless. The hotdogs are disgusting & taste of vomit. My expensive hotel was infested with bedbugs. I refused to tip & was thrown out of 5 restaurants. I was mugged 3 times. I am never going back.

@Mattyb88ful yes, great service. Also interesting historically, there has been some sort of a ferry service here since the 1700s.
