No alien. No monster. You're alone with your own terror and that's already frightening enough. Well ... I think I feel less lonely now. Other people experience it too. That's cool. : )
Also, I think during my very first time having it, I thought I was being abducted by aliens. Maybe that's why I love stoner-rock so much, lol.
Over time, I've kinda learned to deal with; noticed that it often comes if you don't manage your bed-time very well, or if you take too many day-naps and then try to fall asleep. These days, however, hallucinatory experiences are quite rare, it's mostly just paralysis itself. Also, I've learned that one needs to just let it go and wait, don't fight it.
I do too. I've also had it since 15-16, (I'm 21 atm) and the worst periods, the kind of nights when I'd experience it almost every night, were probably somewhere along 17-18 y.o. Its indeed very scary, during certain times I'd have visual, auditory and tactile hallucinations all at once, as the other person below noted, "the feeling of impending doom" is certainly there, so are "creeping shadows" on your bed/body, screams, cries and stuff like that.
Greenleaf, Dozer, Demon Cleaner, Ridge... I think they all played on each other's records! The Stockholm music scene must have been just awesome to experience in those days. All these bands were on the Molten Universe label, which was a record company started by one of the members of Dozer or of Demon Cleaner, can't recall exactly which. Pretty cool guy though, I exchanged some mail with him back when these bands were all active and making great records.
Sleep Paralysis Awakeness found in hardrock/stoner rock lyrics, bsides the lyrics to "Scissor Lock" by Dredge. I have been experiencing this phenomenon for twenty four years, I go into a paralysis state in the bassline NOT. But, it sure feels like death is impeding on you..the dark shadows, hearing voices during ASP..O-O

Well, I don't know if anyone knows what is the sleep paralysis.
I don't know if someone there already experienced it. I did. Many nights.
And this song ... makes me feel as I was in one of those sleep paralysises.
It's hard to explain but it's the same feelings of ... fear.
Awesome song.
