It's unnecessary for melee to decrease their HP with the slime, since hatefuls only hit the top 3 targets on the aggro list, this will be the tanks REGARDLESS of HP.

yes, 7healers, his hateful strikes, granted they hit the tank, will do about 20-30k, and, heroic gear wont get this guy down, lol heroic spider/plague/military will gear them up nicely and easily, and 7healers is the minimum for 25man naxx

really depends on gear, not his HP, hopefully you're def capped, i've never been a shield bareing tanking so i dunno how much avoidance you'd require as a warrior for this, i have a DK tank, never had a problem with this boss, but we have epic healers

Wait... why do you suggest dipping in the slime? Seems like loss of DPS for those few seconds. This fight has never been based from HP. It has always been threat based.

Actually it is based on HP. The tanks need to maintain aggro of course, but he hatefuls the 3 highest in HP. Trust me...I've seen DK's and Warriors go down because of this :P.

I went here with my guild last night and we had three tanks (My self and protadin, a warrior and another protadin) I was chosen to be the main tank as I had the least amount of HP (34k at the time) and the warrior and pally bother had 37K hp plus. And for some reason, every time we tried at least one of them died.

I dont understand.. Is this a healing problem? I assume it must be.

All of you had plenty of health. So there is a 99.9999% chance it is a healing problem. Make certain the healers are assigned to individual tanks. And they ONLY heal that tank. This fight is reliant on the quality of healers you have.

well... my grp just attempted him just recently and we had really geared ppl our dps was amazing (got him down to 70%before enrage timer poped up) but idk if it was our healers or what cause he was like 1shotting our tanks that had 30khp unbuffed...

Probably the healers. Remember, your least geared tank should be the MT because the hateful strikes need to be soaked by more geared tanks. Healers need to be hitting the tanks with their most powerful heals the whole time. Also, coordination of heals is essential. Make certain the heals are communicating on who is healing which tank. No one else but the tanks should EVER be healed during this fight.

Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never played a mage, but wouldn't it make more sense to pop the crystal thing that gives you more mana at the beginning since you will probably be able to pop it again before the fight is over?

A mage's conjured mana sapphire acts like a trinket. When used it gives 325sp, manasurge, for around 10 sec. So it's a good idea to pop it along with bl and all your other cooldowns.
