@HaloCE14 I heard that they are actually considering running it on a doubleheader with 3751 when the 2926 is done. So that just might happen some day.
@HaloCE14 Yes, 2926 will be the largest running 4-8-4 in the US or even the world when she is finished. She also will be one of the largest, or the largest, running non-articulated steam locomotives in the USA. I think the 2900 class northerns were the heaviest, longest, and most efficent (sorry, I don't think that I spelled it right) northerns ever built.
@HaloCE14 I live in Albuquerque. I saw 2926 in December and they're making good progress. The NMSLRHS hopes to finish her for the New Mexico centennial in 2012.
Hmm... if they ever decide that they need an extra water tank, they could purchase the tender from L&N 1966 (a 2-8-4) and convert it into an extra water tank for this locomotive.
@Rtchugg Well, the locomotive L&N 1966 was scrapped half a century ago, but the locomotive's tender still exists, so I thought it would make for a good candidiate for an auxiliary water tender for ATSF 2926.
Ive visited their facility a few times and they are working very hard to restore this locomotive.
Sadly, the new mexico centennial came around and the engine still needs years worth of work.

@HaloCE14 Seeing a double header with 2926 & 3751 would be... unbelievably amazing!

When that is restored, it is going to be one of the biggest, if not the biggest 4-8-4 under steam.
