  • Very cool video and review, man. I like your playing a lot. I've seen this wah like yours, the JH-1B w/the chrome, THEN I've seen the all black JH-1D that also has the same Hendrix signature on the front. Do you know which came out first, do they sound different, is one fatter than the other, etc? I really like the sound of yours and just wondered if the all black JH-1D sounded similar and/or better? If you wouldn't mind, please respond when you get a chance, as I'm looking to buy. Thanks.

  • I bought the same pedal It is definitively my favorite wah. Awesome review.

  • Man this is a class review of this wah wah pedal. Good riffs, you have a good feel with the pedal which is important. Very hard to find a good wah pedal review great work man! :) and let me guess you just have your camera filming your feet cause you don't want anyone looking at you doing crazy face looks while using it ? xD

  • Great demo. Can't Stop sounds great . Do you have the strat in the fourth position switch? With Compressor and some delay from the amp right ? Its a nice full sound.

  • sweet kicks man

  • sooooo.... nice shoes...

  • Nice vid m8. I got question: You used amp to record those sounds or you used some audio interface, or just soundcard?

  • @xblackb0x no I was talking about the red hit chili peppers, and of course I know Hendrix.

  • you are verry talented, i love your sound.. if you know what i mean. where do you take lessons ? i'm in berkeley conservatorium

  • I have the same amp its pretty nice isnt it

  • I call dibs on the 2 quarters!

  • What was the first he song he was playing called???

  • @MrCheez1007 it is a shame you don't know that... voodoo chile by jimi hendrix

  • Ouch someone needs a tune! :P Good review

  • hey do you know the song 'hush now' by jimi hendrix?

is a cry baby better especially for this song or the jh-1b?

  • Hendrix used 2 different wah pedals. A crybaby for live and a Vox for studio recording

  • @GuitarGod94XxXx the vox looks way cooler with the vox letters in it.. someone mod me this hendrix pedal. maybe one just needs the vox wah-s cover and put it on the hendrix one?? :) is that possible?

  • @BlackBalloonGraz i like both the crybaby and the vox. i think they should make a wah pedal with a button switch that goes from a Vox wah to a Crybaby GCB 95. Now to me that a perfect wah haha

  • What brand of pedal did Hendrix use?

  • @FooNado Vox wah pedals

  • Lol, that was a really bad rhcp quick bit of cant stop, i can do better!

  • hey... talking shoes!

  • Crybaby 535Q way better for the money and actually probably a lot less. I got mine on ebay for 65 bucks

  • great song bro

  • JOHN FRUSCIANTE!

  • dude, we have the same fucking pedals! even more crazy, in that same order!

  • wat song do u play without the wah is it by red hot chilli peppers

  • @keyb87 Can't Stop - Red Hot Chili Peppers :D

  • i had this wah but it broke! im getting another one soon, its such a good pedal!

  • Can't stop!!!! Awesome song ain't it!!!

  • why boss pedals?

  • Ahhh man when you started playing yertle the turtle my dog jumped the fuck up and ran out!

    Great song, great video thanks.

  • @TheChron44 Thank you for contributing to the discussion in this video's comment thread and to humanity in general. Your comment provided a lot of value and I know all who read it are better for it. :P

Seriously though, great review Popos. Very helpful, great tone!

  • doesn't have the quack? have you wathc hendrix live with his wah i doesn't sound much diferrent really man.

    it's good pedal

  • hey, what is the difference between a jh-1b and a jh-1d ??

    kind regards :)

  • it's hilarious how bad you suck.

  • wow those are my dream pedals !

  • i had the jimi wah but it broke somehow... hopefully getting a new one soon... but it was awesome

  • I need it - -'.

  • So you placed the wah before the distortion? I think Jimi placed it after. But when I try to put my jimi hendrix wah pedal before distortion it doesn't sound very good...? Idk why

  • Guy check prices for this pedal and many more by Slash, Zakk Wylde and dunlop's classics, On my page.

  • Special Pickups?!? Jimi used The 1960's Fender ones that came in his Stratocaster...

  • @thedeem0N

the guitar I was using had texas special pickups in it

  • @Rwecosher In playing guitar it is standard to open your mouth at sometime....

  • @Rwecosher

if you actually watch the video you'll notice I play a lot more than I talk

  • @Rwecosher Because, whenever something in the world goes wrong, you (the rest of the world) pick up the phone and call us to come save your butts. So, with your fucked up accent, say something smart ass and then shut up and listen to the boy play or talk, or do whatever he does. If you dont like it, dont watch, dont listen, just shut up, move on. That O/S running your PC, came from the US. That PC or MAC design, either one, came from the US. Be quiet now and get back to your dark hole.

  • @Rwecosher alright Churchill take it easy everyone knows hes a tool thats why he had to plug 3 pedals into eachother

  • @Rwecosher Go fuck yourself, you twatty eurotrash. :]

  • @Rwecosher I believe you are what your fellow Brits would call a "cunt" good sir, now get over the fact that our country raped yours, and maybe get a life while you're at it, as opposed to being butt hurt about it and feeling as if you need to put down people's guitar pedal reviews for retarded, forced and trivial reasons!

  • i have one of these and love it!

  • This is the only video that really shows the quality of the this pedal!

I love the color that his pedal gives on the clean sound, but do you think it really holds sound in dirty sounds? Do you prefer the pedal in clean or dirty? Cheers

  • Dude nice vid, but your reviewing the wah wah, so you should have just hooked that one in because the more pedals you have hooked up the more its cuts the sound of each one.

  • Get real people, if you want Hendrix type sounds, buy from Analogman and guys that build fuzz peoples proper! the Hendrix name is being used as a selling point, don't fall it that fast

  • People who are serious about wah wah's will not buy this overpriced junk with someones name slapped on it! there is much better wahs out there! stuff like? the whipple Wah which owns! the Hendrix Wah has no proper balls! whimp of a wah

  • The standard vox sounds so much much better. Don't get fooled by the jimi hendrix bullshit. Just cuase it says Hendrix on it deosn't mean it's the sound you're looking for. Dunlop fucked shit up up :l

  • Ha was it supposed to be john butler trio or john mayer? haha

  • wow, You remind me of Marty Mcfly

  • hey go to shop and buy a pedalboard.....

  • dos it run on 9v batteries

  • @monkeyman2578 it does but here it was connected to an adaptor

  • @monkeyman2578 I'm pretty sure all pedals and effects fun on 9v's. and their power adapters

  • @monkeyman2578: I got this thing today. One of the best features is that you can change the battery through an opening at the bottom. You don't have to unscrew the whole thing to change it!!!

  • how much is this pedal?

  • @facofono I think $130

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan at sam ash i saw that it was only$90

what the diff bettween and the Dunlop Crybaby Wah?

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan NVM

i was looking at a different one

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan Nice wah there but um you have basically a VOX that you paid alot for and has nothing other the Jimi Hendrix's signature on it. I could plug in my VOX 847 in and probably get the same sound if I were using your amp and guitar.

  • @facofono ya its $130

  • john mayer awsome

  • I belive you like Frusciante a lot. I don't blame you the guy is superb.

  • its not really by hendrix...hendrix used a modified vox pedal so it was analog.

  • Omg god i cant help it... but dude? i got your shoes... :-D

  • @Odinsgade so do I!

  • I've been to the Experience music project in seattle (its an rock and roll museum) they have a huge hendrix section. they got his stage costumes, amps, pieces of his monterey pop festival stratocaster that he lit on fire, and his infamous white stratocaster he played at woodstock... they also have a collection of his pedals.... and the wah he used was a Vox King Wah. he probably used all kinds of wah wahs but the vox king wah is definently one of em.

  • i'd get a pedal board.

  • @jpd018

I've got one now, and different gear too

  • Lad, buy a pedal board, keep it tidy and safe.

  • too much reverb/delay for Voodo child:) but hey! great review

  • @czesio12323

yeah looking back I should have adjusted it instead of just leaving the delay on the whole time

  • kid ur a goon nice shoes

  • nice wah, shoes without socks is bad for you! although im not sure why.

  • @Jimmmeeehhh I have socks on, you just can't see them :D

  • another pedal you can look for is the dunlop jimi hendrix fuzz face. its got that classic sixties garage band fuzz!! i love it!!

  • @PAULisDEADMANnumber9 Thats a BC-108 silicon transistor, which hendrix used in band of gypsies and latter projects, I prefer Germanium NKT transistors and highly recommend the Analog Man Sun Face which you can order with either transistor, and the Analog Man Astro Fuzz for great fuzz pedals

  • if you leave the wah 3/4 of the way back, go to your neck pickup, and turn the tone all the way down, you get eric clapton's woman tone.

  • your out of tune, like the pedal though

  • dude too many pedals for a hendrix. you just need Wah and fuzz

  • awesome Demo mate really great sounding Wah pedal.

  • it's a great sounding pedal but it doesn't sound very hendrix-y a vox v847 is cheaper and gets you the classic hendrix "quack"

  • You need some new shoes, they are just awful.

  • @pieceOFhelmet glad you saw the point of the video

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan i did lol iv got one of those pedals now :)

  • Hm, i'm worried about that boss DS-1/2 it's not bypass. So doesn't that slightly ruin your sound?.

  • @neo14085

a little bit, but not very much, and not as much as a wah would. it was so insignificant that it never really bothered me

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan Ach ok, sorry i pointed it out then, Great demo though =]

  • @neo14085 haha no need to apologize, and glad you liked

  • whats the difference between this wah and the standard crybaby wah?

  • @serve4life

I dunno about the parts and stuff, but aside from differences in the way it looks, it's a lot thicker and fatter. it's a very vocal and full sound and personally I think it worked better with distortion

  • @serve4life The Jimi hendrix signature wah has a more fatter bassier sound.. ;)

  • waste of money...

  • @snowboarder699

no not really, I got most if not all of that stuff used and was able to resell it later on ebay for about the same. I think I actually ended up making a little money. plus, it made my guitar sound better than it did with just the amp, so it was worth it for me

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan ok, it sound good and everything but i believe its worth just buying a normal cry baby pedal....

  • @snowboarder699

oh you mean the wah I get it. in that sense you're kinda right, it's overpriced, but honestly I think it's better quality than the crybaby. it just depends if you want a fat thick wah or a more standard crybaby type

  • regardless if this pedal is not really nail Jimi's tone, it is a nice groovy pedal, very Grateful Dead, Phish sounding.

  • @BlackBerry7689

definitely! that's why I love it.

  • yeahhh i see that rhcp babyyyyyyyyyyy

  • apparently puberty didnt come with the wah oedal

  • @theoffbrandband apparently

  • nice shoes

  • ...All i would have is a wah.

    To many pedals...feels wrong somehow.

Relying on something else to sound better.

  • lol cant stop at the beginning was perfect. u really have some great tone on that guitar man.

  • hey how much did u buy the jimi hendrix pedal for? and where at?

  • anyone that wants a hendrix tone shouldn't get this pedal.. hendrix didn't get his tone from a hendrix wah pedal. If you want a Jimi tone take the same path he did with a standard wah a fuzz box and a marshall and explore true tone, and youll hear what exactly hendrix heard. it'll be harder but it'll develop you better as a guitarist

  • @Ironsixx

I agree- this pedal doesn't nail jimi's wah sound. if it didn't have the name, I never would've thought this had anything to do with jimi.

this is still a fantastic wah pedal. maybe the best I've ever played. it's awesome for hendrix and all kinds of other stuff.

this wah is for people looking for a great wah, not for jimi's exact tone.

for that go for a crybaby or vox.

  • @Ironsixx jimi had all of his fuzz boxes and wahs modded anyways, far from standard

  • @stewie9793

people always seem to forget that roger mayer worked on all his pedals for him

  • hey dude i got a vox v847a and i'm kinda disapointed with it i was wondering if this pedal also works good distortion

  • @ajaydatindiekid96

this wah is much better than most with distortion

  • @ajaydatindiekid96 put the distortion after the wah ;) as a wah needs a clean signal, it also mean the sound of the wah gets a better high end and more of a throaty tone, if you but the wah after the distortion you wah the distortion not the guitar :) hope this helped, but its always good to mess with FX placements

  • @GeoAnimism

    distortion is after the wah

the pedals are in order from left to right

  • Hey man, I just got the Slash Wah today, and am very dissapointed, its really stiff and just not at all what I was hoping... I am thinking of exchanging it at Guitar Center tomorrow for this pedal... have you had any sort of problems with it? Thanks...

  • @PRSinglecut1 nope, flawless

  • When you purchase a wah wah pedal does it come with the wires needed?

Also Im one of those kids who only gets gifts for Christmas and my Birthday.

How do I convince my mum to buy me a suitable wah wah pedal under say

    $40 ? ? ? HELP I WANT ONE ! ! !

  • @jaydenftw

no it doesn't come with wires

just buy it yourself with your own money. I buy stuff with my own money

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan Thats the thing I cant get money from my mum, she's kind of poor. Our Apple computer is bigger than our living room TV. HELP MAN!

  • @jaydenftw

you'd have better luck with someone you know personally, I can't convince someone to buy you a wah

but check ebay for the crybaby standard, GREAT wah and you can get it for cheap on ebay

  • dude did you just change ur strings or is it that you're whacking the stings too hard??

  • @LedStraitsify

I don't know if just changed the strings it was like a year ago man, but I don't think so

it was part compressor and part me strumming hard

  • Cheers dude. Nice review.

  • How does it compare to the Vox V847 Wah-Wah Pedal? Is it worth paying more?

  • @cdy72 I haven't tried the vox

  • Hey Man... Nice Vid :-) What amp do you use there ? Line 6 15 ?

  • @The6s6s6s yes

  • In My Opinion This Wah and Wylde's are the best

  • What's the difference between the JH-1 and the JH-1B?

  • @DaanJM no idea

  • what is the full name of the boss 3 pedal?

  • @klv400

    from left to right

    wah pedal

    Boss CS-3 Compression sustainer (good)

    Boss BD-2 Blues Driver (good)

    Boss DS-1 Distortion (not good)

  • @PoposNewGuitarChan thanks

  • Is that a Telecaster I see in the back?

  • I wish. It's a squier 51, they stopped making them a while back, I got it about a year before I even started playing. It's a strat/tele hybrid and it's actually pretty good.

  • duudee.. u need 2 get some socks and new shoes!!!

  • Where is the proper place to put the wah in the chain, before the overdrive/distortion or after?

  • there's no "right" place to put it.

most people put it before, like hendrix, but some people (like john frusciante) put it after. it's a more "normal" sound if you put it before

  • its a great sounding wah and a full sounding wah!!! bad thing about it is it tends to suck the volume of the amp making it sound lesser so it decreases the volume.... other than that its great and should be a part of your pedal arsenal

  • Dude, you rock! Sounds great....and who the heck needs shoes to play the guitar anyways?? Nothing says "soulful guitar" more than a little toe-jam on the pedals!!!

  • This Wah is a copy of the Vox V846 Wah with Jimi Hendrix Name ...

  • when you played the version of bold as love, you sounded a litle out of tune. other than that, i think i might have to buy one of these. how much do they run for?

  • Get ... New.. Shoes..then ill watch this

  • hate to burst your bubble, but even if I got new shoes (which I actually have since this) it wouldn't change what's in the video.

    crazy isn't it?

  • i read your description; you didn't got the sound of something like voodoo child cuz you use a distortion pedal and he was using a fuzz and you said you have texas special witch are really nice but this pickups have a little too much sustain if you know what i mean and because of that, they have a little too quacky sound for playing hendrix cuz pickups like these where made later in the 70's i think, but they are too good for something like srv, john mayer, scott henderson ect. peace :))

  • Well to get more of the Hendrix tone you should've try to plug the Wah after a distortion pedal, just like Jimi did.

  • he was plugin his guitar into the wah, then often the octavio pedal and then the fuzz and into the amp but it looked like it was reversed because he was a "lefty" and used the wah with his left foot so he turned the effect around; you can see that very clear on Jimi plays Berkley i think :))

  • Yeah but sometimes he also plugged the wah after fuzz ;p

  • wouldn't say so, cuz then the wah "eats" the fuzz and it looses the distorted sound and the wah is too cranky and pitchy and I don't think I've heard Jimi using such sound... at least thats the way mine sounded that way

  • oh, ok guess I need to do some more researching, thanks for the info.

  • cool tone man

  • nice shoes (!)

  • 2:12 you seem out of tune :/ maybe i'm wrong.

    Good review

  • @Matara

yeah that was definitely out of tune

  • @Matara i agree

  • Great review! This really helped!

  • You know Jimi had his Wah pedal before the distortion in the chain of effects right? Might get you closer.

  • Thanks for the tip, but I'm not really that interested in getting Jimi's sound. I'm more about doing my own thing. I just knew this was a great wah so I got it, and as a plus, it gets a pretty good Hendrix tone. But I'll keep that in mind for when I'm doing Hendrix covers. Thanks

  • @andros1984

    wah was before the distortion

  • boss pedals = bad but i want more lol

  • to tell you the truth, these boss pedals suck. they really do. my other guitarist has a boss me70 and it sounds pretty much the same. I'm replacing them with better pedals, one by one. I've got a Big Muff now (the me70 muff setting isn't even close) and a CMATMODS brownie to replace my DS-1. I've actually made videos of my new pedals yesterday and I've been editing them to put them up today

  • oh ok, I was just letting you know that the Boss ME-70 is probably the best thing on the market right now as far as guitar effect pedals go.

  • @jrpimpdog

Boss ME units are literally the farthest thing from the best effect pedals on the market
