  • Hi mate

Great video! Would be A+ if you finish it with the example of the footage taken with this camera using the Rode. Keep on good work

  • Hey how can you add the mic to the HD1000 look like the mic came with jeck 3.5 nbut the hd1000 has smaller hole please let me know how it work together?

i got Rode VideoMic and hd1000 but can't get them to work together.

  • This is an excellent video, very informative!

  • Excellent video!

  • Does the mic show up in frame while shooting? It seems to protrude quite a bit over the lens of the camera.

  • yeah thats why i took mine back lol it doesnt have a very good mic built in to the camra

  • Thank you for your review, it helped me decide to buy it!

  • I have the same setup. Works really well, but it looks ridiculous!

    Keep up the videos, mate.

  • i see the warcraft poster in the background. i wonder if he's a horde guy. i think he's more of a gnome

  • Thats a cool, compact set up! I like it =]

  • Great videos! Yankees!

  • Can you post a demo with recorded sound with rode mic, an the same with internal mic?

    Thanks!

  • Great Video!

The Rhode Mic is guaranteed to be better than the in-built mic on the Sanyo.

  • agreed

  • Great video. I'm looking to buy one. Was wondering how does it cope in low light situations? Also I'm looking to record a live band - would it be possible to feed an output (with own volume control) from the mixing desk into the mic input, has this been tried?

Any thoughts on using one for live music recording (audio and video) much appreciated.

  • I never comment on any videos, but I just wanna say that you're a legend mate.

Love the raygun comment in the other video.

I'm looking to buy this camera for some skating footage/holiday footage and it looks the business.

  • Great video, thx. Listen, where on earth is the SERIAL NUMBER on this ROde Video mic ? ??? I can't find it ..

  • That is no "scotch" accent... he's one of my people, Northern Ireland. (from Carrickfergus here mate)

  • Hi,

mach mal nen Video mit der Cam.

    Gruß Martin

  • nice vid man :) dont be nervous,we all like u . your "scotch" (xD)accent is kinda weird to understand but really funny though :) thx for that vid, im going to purchase one of those cams =)

  • Another great vid. You look like you're carrying some kind of futuristc raygun :)

One question I have, does the mic sit on top and plug into the hd1000's mic port and start recording sound as soon as you press record on the camera? thanks

  • to: system16, You go inside the HD1000 Camera and change settings to external Mic, then save it. 2 seconds latter your good to go. Once u press record the Mic has already synced with the camera sound and video H.264 works together seemlessly. Works easy and NO NEED to read the manual if your already TECH SAVVY.

  • I find your videos very helpful. THanks alot...

  • (04:16) "the perfect", "the perfect", Perrrrr.... together :)

    Great Cam!!!!!

  • HIYA... Pls BUY an 8GB Transend SDHC (CLASS 6) memory card (Class 6) buy on amazon TRANSEND are GOOD Value and are very FAST. Take Care, David

  • Hi Dave;

I am ready to buy the HD1010 camera .. and was wondering what memory card should i get .. does memory card speed is an issue regarding the recording of HD video?

    Thanks

    David

  • Dave:

Does the Rode Mic block the HD1000 flash unit from opening all the way?

  • yes, the Sanyo flash should not really get in the way too much, but you cannot really practilly shoot video, then take pics with flash at the same time. buy a separate digital camera for the job like I did, then you will not have to reliant on the Sanyo HD1000 As a point and shoot camera, cuz its really not. sorry! - but thanks for you question John, take care... Dave.

  • Hi David

I am planing on buying the HD1010 and was wondering if it is possible to insert the StereoVideoMic from RODE.. do you have info regarding that configuration?

    Thanks

  • Im sorry I don't own an HD1010 but im told theyr'e the same size as the HD1000 - sO CANNT SEE ANY REASON WHY YOU CANT FIT THE RODE MIC. its the best mic available.

  • I have the HD1010, and just got my Rode Video Mic. The mic does fit on the HD1010, but the knurled ring of the mic rubs on the back of the flash unit just slightly as the ring is tightened down, then pressing hard on the flash unit. It does go, but I plan to judiciously trim a little of the ring so it does not touch the flash unit.

  • Hi David, will the Rode Videomic be visible while recording with the HD1010? I'm asking since it is pretty long! Do you think it will be visibile when I add the 0.7x wide angle lense?

  • yes, its all good - and you can add a 0.7 wide angle lens easy, but make sure it a genunie Sanyo lens adapter or it will gratelly affect the hi hef video quality. take care, David.

  • does the videomic work well with a consumer camera?

  • only camcorders that accept universal external Mics, its the best bang for your buck. Good luck.!

  • Does the Sanyo have a standard shoe to accomodate all styles of mics? I know you approve of the Rode, but I was curious about some others as well.

  • yes, the SANYO HD1000 Does take a wide selection of mics, the The Camcorder SHOE is one universal fitting, unlike Sony HD Camcorders. Take Care, Dave.

  • Does the Rhode Mic jack fit into the HD100 mic input on the back of the camera?

  • Yes, the MIC fits into the MIC jack located on the SANYO HD 1000 camera, very simple, if you need any further info please email or message me, Regards, David.

  • haha World of Warcraft poster in the backround

  • Hehe, nice review...you somehow remember me of Ozzi :D

  • hi david. a good, thorough review once again. i didn't realise the HD1000 had an external mic input! this is turning out to be a very good camera. Scott

  • yeh, the SANYO HD1000 has a hotshoe and Mic input... also headphone input, full pro-consumer type specs, with 1080i resolution to match.. thanks for your comment. - cheers, Scott, regards, David.

  • Cool.

  • I am going to try and shoot with a mini-jack splitter and two tie-clip microphones next week, where I am going to shoot 50 more video interviews with it.

  • Charbax, Yeh bro, I think that would be a lot more discrete and 2 tie MIC's on the end of a splitter would be a great idea for interviews!

...Very Private, and very discrete, which brand of tie-clip Mics are you gonna use? - David.

  • Archos, about 30€ each.

  • Interesting microphone.. Though one of the cool things about the Sanyo camcorder being so small, is that people don't find it looks too profetionnal, it kind of looks like a mobile phone or something, so one can still get kind of natural reactions from people recorded. Though with the wide-angle lense, already, it starts to look like a profetionnal camcorder, so then I guess it would be ok.

  • Thanks for the review. Does the Rode provide a good audio level? I tried my AT822 and even with the ext mic set to 5 in the camcorder the audio level was quite low.

  • andysm, the Rode VideoMic has many hidden features, and you can set the Stereo MIC pick-up to Low, Medium, and High pick-up sensor, settings -1,-10,-20 (1,2,3,) - Then you can also go into your camcorder and boost settings even more, only if you need to, but I think on -10 (2) will be quite powerful. Hope that helps, regards, David... PS. message me if you need any more help.!

  • Nice review Dave, its a really cool package, thanks for taking time to make a superb review, Take care, Emp2007.
