If you want to succeed (finish first) would you recommend a bike or a car? I've been driving with Luigi on a standard all this time.

Definitely a bike. You need to be able to wheelie and corner/drift sharply.

For lightweights, Baby Daisy is the fastest, and the Bullet Bike (top speed) and the Quacker (acceleration) are the best.

For medium weight, Daisy is the fastest character and the Mach Bike is the fastest bike.

For heavyweights, Funky Kong is the fastest, and the Flame Runner aka Bowser Bike is the fastest.

Just jump off the top like normal, but not as high.

Just pull off the side barely enough to get in the air.

The best bikes and characters are:

Funky Kong + Flame Runner

Peach + Mach Bike

To unlock more karts and characters, do Grand Prix

Daisy+Mach Bike is Good too, and Funky Kong with the Spear is sometimes usable, although the turning is hard to get used to.

Peach is actually the 2nd best after Daisy though.

I was actually going to go in-depth on the characters and bikes in Part 4.

However, this might be a few weeks away, so here's the basics:

Some characters are faster than others. Daisy is the fastest for middle-weight, and Funky Kong is the fastest for heavy-weight.

The Mach Bike is considered the best for middle-weight, and the best for heavy-weight is considered to be the Flame Runner.
