If you force a min wage there is less motivation for people to strive for something better. It also cuts out people that are totally unskilled. You have to start somewhere. Why should you make someone comfortable in a low level job when it reduces the chances of them to continue to improve themselves and find out how capable they truly are? Min wage is a trap.

If I am forced to pay $20/hr to hire someone, I will hire someone that is skilled and worth $20/hr. Then you are left out with no job at all. It's the free market. You get what your labor is worth. @sxcboy4u I believed that when I was your age. I think anyone with a heart does and it would be wonderfull if it worked but it doesn't. Some people try but most quit as soon as they are minimally comfortable. I did a 2 yr internship working with the poor and I saw it first hand over & over & over again.

When they work & advance on their own merits they see that they can do it and their motivation and self worth goes up. It sounds cruel but in the long run that works better for people overall.
