  • some of the people commenting here are ridiculously stupid. to think we hear half of what goes on behind closed doors is naive. why do you think the sun and notw opposed brown? obviously because he stood up to them, why else? public opinion? i think not! murdoch didnt care what people would think about refusing an invitation to speak infront of the parliamentary committee so why should his perception of any other kind of public opinion be any different?

  • The Sad shit Gordon Brown....Is so full of the Brown stuff....I can not see how this Man can stand there and talk about cover ups and lies??? After 13 years of New Labour of Lies and more Tax rises seen ever..And Gordon Brown Failed???? The One eyed Twat!!!!!!!!!

  • Brown was only able to make this speech after other, braver people made Murdoch a safe target. He should have spoken up five years ago when the Sun plastered his young son's disability across the front pages. Too late Gordon. If you didn't have the grit to say it then, I would respect you more if you kept quiet now.

  • probably the best speech brown has ever done.....i wish he had done more like it when in office

  • You can see how brown relishes this. He, one of the few politicians whom stood up to murdoch before the scandal can finally deliver a finishing blow. Good on you brown.

  • Gordon Brown severely criticised News Corp / NOTW for publicising details of his son's illness. He emphasised the real distress it caused to him, his wife, and the future for his son. THEN 2 WEEKS LATER, AFTER THE NOTW RAN THE STORY, HE WENT TO REBICA BROOKS WEDDING. What does that tell you about this psycotic megalomaniac ? Gordon Brown is a severely flawed human being, a very dangerous person completely out of touch with any kind of reality. Sarah Brown, be afraid, be very afraid.

  • One of the best speeches I've heard in the Commons for a long time and it is hardly surprising it infuriates the Tory vermin crawling out of their holes to continue their gratuitous vilification of Brown.having been starved for so long from his presence. No

specificl or constructive comment on the substance of his claims- just contnuation of the unsubstantiated rumours, lies and spiteful hatred spewed by the Sun ,Times and N.O.T.W. to impugn Brown's integrity from when he took office..

  • @golsno147 Was one of his best speeches period. He can be, when relaxed a superb orator. But, he became an easy target & thus is widely mocked. But his integrity is as you day in tact. That doesn't however mean he made no mistakes, because he did. But who doesn't?

  • Why do this mans speeches always make me sleepy?

  • Murdoch wins everytime, he owns everything. in a few weeks this whole scandal will be swept under the rug and the covert take over of BSkyB will happen. The mistake is to think that we have any power to do anything to these people. The banks and media linchpins like Murdoch will carry on doing what they want, wars, drugs, whatever. They're all in bed together, Brown, Cameron, Blair, Bush, Obama, all work for the banks and it's so obvious. The illusion of democracy is an incredible weapon.

  • who sent then to war in the first place.like he gives a shit

  • Pathetic. "I rise not to speak for myself..." That is exactly what he did do, though. Trying to justify himself AND he lied to Parliament. What a small and insignificant man he is. He is the man that led this country into the financial mess it is in. He has no morals, no backbone and is a disgrace.

  • MURDOCH GOIN DOWN

  • the FBI will sort Murdoch out for you Gordon.

  • Brown is tarnished by the Murdoch depredations as much as Blair and Cameron. He is a hypocrite who would never have dreamed of making remarks like this when he was in power or had the chance of power.

  • @mikemckv the fact he wouldn't have said this when in power illustrates the problem, shirley ( if you fink about it)?
