I have one I'm parting I sold the crank that met specs, but I have 2 good rods and one good piston. There are many good parts on eBay, just be sure to buy from someone that has good measurements and will guarantee those measurements.
HI i have an old john Deere 400 19.9 hp Kohler engine i need too rebuild the engine it has a lot of blow by and smokes a lot having trouble finding parts for over haul some one help thanks, Steve
IMHO, Any of the older 300 400 series John Deere tractors are very nice and built to last forever. They are made so they can go from Junk to like new for a couple hundred in parts- bearings, rings, seals, bushings. All made to be replaced(Not throw away) when they wear out.
Hi there names Robert my dad had the same tractor and Kohler KT17 Opposed Twin Air-Cooeld Engine. Unfortunately it blew both rods right out of the block he sold it. I wonder if you could put a 27 horsepower Kohler Command CH740 V-Twin OHV Air-Cooled engine in this tractor I owuld fit just have to do some work and put a muffler on it. You can even put Briggs Vanguard and Honda V-Twins in the Deere 317 & 318 Tractors. Thanks a lot take care of your self and have a good day good video.

@mrviz60 No, just gas. Only diesel garden tractors were the 430, 455, 332? and one of the newer x series.

Is that the good Kohler or not. (Good ones are KT 17 serious 2.) Bad ones are just KT 17

Yup, I've been meaning to get a retro fit kit together for the cheapest high quality engine- maybe a kohler OHV V twin air cooled.
