Living in the area (Berkeley, Oakland) for the last 20+ years I've seen and heard this guy playing on the street many many times. Always trips me out. He typically played at the downtown Berkeley BART station.
Martin, I am glad this artist is finally getting recognition and in such a beautiful manner. The trailer looks very promising! I cant wait to see the real thing. Que tenga mucha suerte.

Good work Martín. I look forward to seeing the final film. You guys have spent a lot of time and energy discovering the meaning of music and life. Beyond the music being absolutely amazing I think everyone will find this film to be inspiring.
I love Michael- can't wait to see a movie about him..hopefully it will offer some inspirations for the future of american art..his music is really beautiful, as are the colors of the trailer
This looks very promising project, i think the title captures the essence of the documentary and in a sense "promoting it" on youtube(Two flies in one stroke we say in Holland). Because it's pretty low profile documentary what could capture a broad audience as Michael Masley is doing with his fantastic music my friend Martin is doing with his hard work. It looks very promising keep up the good work
Well done my Friend now is when I begin to see where you head to, and believe me you 'll reach it soon, so keep working this hard. I saw your maturing through your jobs so... Let's kick some asses Kid.
Martin is right, I was in the libraries in Arizona state, and Iwent to check the Baker's Dictionary 8th edition and ... yes!!! Masley was there surrounded by all this timeless amazing musicians
ps: off course we know off all those musicians that you mention...Ted Greenwalt the senior editor of Wired Magazine compared MIchael Masley's work to most of them... in a respectfull way....
it seems to me looking at posters favorites and videos that this is a very sophomoric crowd. it's a shame you all will never hear much good music in your lives. manring sucks! soulless mastrbtry anal retentive zero! miles davis sucked too.
a documentary about sheltered moron musicians blown away by not much. ever heard of joanna newsome? zeena parkins? alice coltrane? elliot sharp [carbon]?. that bass player seems to be looking in all the wrong places for ''extraordinary musicians''. oh and wow that keyboard player for billy fricken joel oooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh she must be an expert.
My friend you seem pretty ignorant...do you have any idea who Michael Manring is? Michael Boddicker? JAck Douglas???? Steven Tyler???? yes maybe you think this guy in the street is not to much... I encourage everybody to search Michael Masley in google.... or if you are in a library... look in the Baker dictionary of musicians ... You will be surprise by the comments and the discoveries of this great and amazing musician
i love that all of you pedestrians are upset! i came up in N>Y> in the seventies and eighties, and went to countless concerts. i have seen many things you will never see or hear of, on and off the street. i have owned 20,000 recordings. you are the ignorant one sir. i play many instruments as well and have been called amazing by many. i read WIRE magazine [get it right]. the baker dic. omits hundreds of geniuses. it is crud.
As far as I can see this pffft63 character is full of hate and ignorance. I see enough of that in our government. You comments only make me feel sorry for and pitty you. Music does not require structure, formal training or even skill. Music is the sound of life. It is the sound of water splashing on a rock. It is not prejudice orgnorant. Steven T. gets it. I get it. pffft63 should try and unlearn all that has made him so angry and deaf to the music around him.
The girl interviewing Steven looks mesmerized when he speaks ...but then again so do I :D
