  • I choose bugera. If bugera (-450e) can be compaired with a mesa boogie (1700-->) it is a total winner bcause of it´s price. Im a student so no money : / Bugeras sound can be a bit thin but it just needs a little gain boost, good mixing or maybe active pickups.

  • I feel like the Peavey was more dominant in the mix, maybe more accurate, but the Bugera was smoother.

i actually scooped up the 6262 combo yesterday for $300. fucking stole it from them. I know you metal heads love this thing for it's drive.. the video makes me want to smash a few brain cells. I play mostly bluesy rock and this amp nails those tones too.

it's very versatile and powerful for the price.

  • Peavey 5150 Fuck Yeahhh!!! /,,/

  • The thing about "scooped" mids is that it's become a matter of all or nothing. Most ams don't have the 5 band graphic like a Boogie, so you get one knob, usually centered at 1KHz, and turning it down cuts right out of the center. The tight "scooped yet not so scooped" tone that a lot of metal bands use is low-mids being pulled down a bit just to prevent mud at high-gain levels, but the high-mids are still aloowed to breathe. Plus no knob should be all the way down unless you want a thin sound.

  • Scooped mids sound GREAT if you are alone .. but I have found that if you scoop to much you WILL NOT cut through the mix

  • What the hell happened to the tone on chug riffing. It was supposed to be thick, deep and heavy, like on Metallica's Master of Puppets (Think: Disposable Hero's) and even that was kind of trebly. It's supposed to be smooth and crowly, wet and thick sounding. WTF is with all this scratchy bullshit. Everywhere on newer metal albums, instead of hearing "chugga-chugga-chugga-chugga" I hear "scratcha-scratcha-scratcha-scratcha", wtf is wrong with you people. Why do you all prefer this? I

  • @M1thotyn tl;dr You only like thrash metal? That's kinda what you just said...

  • @mikeygheetarz Oh hell no, thrash metal uses that scratchy tone more than anyone, even slayer used it in the 80's before the scratchy bullshit even caught on. Megadeth used that terrible scratchy tone too. Nails on a fucking chalkboard. I will just never understand it. If anyone hears a kid using that tone, it's cause he doesn't know what he's doing, he's yelled at to stop, and eventually his guitar is taken away. Now 95% of metal guitarists use it professionally. Is this a rebellion?

  • @M1thotyn Not a rebellion, but an evolution. Music is always changing my friend, for better or for worse but that is entirely subjective. I bet years ago when blues was in its prime no one thought that one day yelling into the microphone would be considered music. Truthfully though, your one of the few who I've heard say that, and thats fine. Your opinion is for you to believe, but most people wouldn't really find this tone 'scratchy' at all. Its all about preference.

  • @M1thotyn i assume your hearing the mids. metallica had their mids really low i believe. in my opinion it's bad practice to play with scooped mids because nobody will be able to hear you in a resonant room over another guitarist and drummer and bassist. they wont hear you over yourself. i used to scoop my mids but after adjusting my ears to having to much mids i realized they actually make the tone much thicker. you might not even be talking about mids but it seems that way.

  • The sounds are very similiar. But it seems as though the Peavey has just a pinch more presence or edge to it. With that said, both tones are outstanding.

  • both amps are sounding great and you can really get very badass heavy sound with them ;) but I think the Bugera has just little more power and pressure behind the tone than the Peavey.

  • The Bugera has just a touch more low end. I've A/B'd both amps through the same cab & room set up before, and as always I'll always pick the 5150 II over the bugera anyday of the week. But I will give Bugera kudos' for making an affordable tube amp that can compete with the classics.

  • i actually thought the 6262 sounded thicker. i turned my head from the computer so i wouldn't lie to myself and listened to a random part of the video untill it changed and i was like the first one! looked at the computer and its the 6262. went into denial- listen many times... the 5150 sounds more hollow. i wonder if the 6262 sounds bad without the backing track to hide it's flaws? if not, this is now my dream amp, a $550 amp... cause to my ears it wins with the backing track.

  • The Bugera sounds a bit thinner I think

  • to my ears, the 5150II has a slightly rounder tone. The 6262 isn't bad at all though.

  • which song is this???and ur videos are awesome...keep them coming!!!

  • @agniveshadhikari Old by Machine Head

  • It is a good amp indeed, more than great for metal. I own one, and I love it. But it is a pain in the arse to have a decent clean sound. (I'm talking about Bugera)

  • machine fucking head \m/

  • Can I get the settings you are using for the 5150?

  • i want to see how this holds up against the valveking (about the same price) cause this amp is sounding good.

  • Comment removed

  • If I would buy a non-used amp it would be the 6262 otherwise I'd go for a used 5150 :)

  • @kromekrush While I respect the Bugera amps (they are killer!), 5150's, recto's, jcm 900's are not $3500 dollar amps. They are a very good alternative to some popular amps, but please don't make it sound like I had pick bottles as well as my job to afford an old 5150...

  • @Oilersordie as an aside, I just paid $1100 local for an original 5150 half stack, so there are deals out there. How ever Bugera is a very decent alternative if you can't find the originals!

  • @Oilersordie To be fair youre correct. Those amps average between 1500 and 2500 for the heads alone but buy the time you add on the 1000 dollars you'll spend on the cab 3500 isn't that far off.

  • @kromekrush the 5150 cabs are not 1000 dollars you can find them on the web for 500 and 800

  • @kromekrush Im speaking of brand new however.

  • To my ears the bugera has more low end.. both sound badass tho

  • The 3:25 , turning into 3:30 is where you really can hear the difference in tone I think. As if someone just put new strings on that guitar.

  • can you make a video with the laney ironheart 120 watts?

  • they are very similar

  • Ola, whats your personal favorite of these two, price and build quality not taken into consideration.

  • Listening with actual quality listening gear (Sennheiser HD650), they sound almost exactly the same. I definitely go for the Bugera since it's 1/2 the price.

  • the bugera definitely comes extremely close to sounding exactly like the 5150... i definitely want a 6262

  • for a 500 dollar amp it kicks some serious ass!

  • look the tags why would someone hate you for doing that comparization?

  • the peavey wins without a doubt

  • The master. Good videos.

  • Kick ass riffin btw!!

  • Tone is tone man! I also love to see people's faces when they see my 333xl and thought it was a boutique amp! Nothin against the gear snobs, but c'mon man. Workin mans budget and a kick ass gig, Priceless!!!!!!!!

  • The Bugera sounds good but my amp tech will not work on them, he's taken care of my amps for about 15 years so I won't buy one. For him it is an ethics issue, he feels that Uli Behringer steals technology (currently embroiled in lawsuits with Peavey) Bugeras sound good but he is the only one I trust with my amp, besides I prefer my amp not to be made in China, not easy to get these days I know but most of the Peavey's are made in US and UK.

  • awesome!

  • what song? anyone knows?

  • @wolfman109h machine head - old

  • @sniper33666

    thx sooooo much!

  • NIce job brother, I've been using your vids to try to decide on a new head, I play stricktly metal and am having a hard time choosing between the ENGL Powerball ii, or the ever faithfull 5150ii, yet I also am interested in Bugera's (333xl & 6262), my other guitar player runs a mesa triple rec? Any tips?

    Cheers

  • Bugera

  • WTF. Your gain is at 3 and a half with your knobs at noon. I couldn't get a tone this heavy on my 6505+ with my gain on 8 while using the EQ. When I take the gain below 5, I loose all my bottom end and it sounds like the volume knob on my guitar is rolled off. Just thin and brittle with no balls. What am I doing wrong?

  • @shelbyfanss wrong pickups? single coil?

  • @bibiranger No way man, I'm running humbuckers with 22k output! But it sounds like single coils with gain under 5.

  • @shelbyfanss i played the 6262 with gain on 3 or 4, like him with my S5470f ibanez,, stock p-ups.. massive gain when put on 10 it only gets ugly..

  • @bibiranger I got the 6505+ (same as the 5150II) and I can get this tone with my gain at 5.5, but not at 3. I wouldn't dare take it past 7, it just becomes noise after that. But the less gain you can get away with, the better, but I can't get any pinch harmonics, and my palm mutes sound super weak and dead with my gain under 5.

  • @shelbyfanss well, tone is also in the fingers;)

  • @bibiranger Yeah, and usually I'm the guy who can get metal tones out of low gain classic rock amps because of the way I play. And my amp sounds just fine, but I have to turn my gain up past 5, which from what I've seen from other people, is a lot higher than I need it for the same tone. So I'm thinking it might be some cables or my cab or something.

  • @shelbyfanss Maybe it has something to do with the Bias... some tubes dont get enough power,

  • @bibiranger Maybe, they bias these amps very cold from the factory and the amp still has stock tubes. I was going to do the bias mod when I changed them, but they still got another year or so of life left.

  • @shelbyfanss u can change the bias without changing the tubes u know:)

  • @bibiranger Of course I do, but I have to have an amp tech do it because I'm not going to risk trying it myself. And if I'm going to pay for that, I might as well change the tubes while I'm at it!

  • @shelbyfanss oh yea thats true:) i forgat my dad is a technician:p so i dont count these costs xD

  • @bibiranger Lucky... Yeah, my dad is an electrical engineer, so I'm sure he could do it too, but honestly, I don't trust him...lol

  • @shelbyfanss '

if you use active higain pickups there shoulden't be to hard to get a good tone

  • @bagera93 Well actually, I figured out what my problem was and it had nothing to do with my guitars or the amp itself, it was my speaker cab. I didn't have access to my usual cab so I had been using a Marshall MF400 cab for a few months with Celestion G12k-100's in it and I had forgotten how much raunchier my Vintage 30 cab was. So when I went back to the vintage 30's, I had to turn my gain down to like 3 or so because I had a lot more than I needed. Who would've thought...

  • @shelbyfanss

    oh okey thats good

  • I have used my Bugeras all over the world for live and studio gigs a like and I can say without a doubt they are some of the best at any price. I have kicked the shit out of them and never had an issue. My 1990 and 6262 are my babies! Next will be the 333XL! It's great to see the look on someones face when they complement your tone with desire in their eyes and then watch their smile fade when they see that your $600 head just kicked their $3500 head's ass in the mud! Priceless!

  • @kromekrush Have you had any durability issues with any Bugera amps? I've been thinking of getting a 6262; they sound damn nice! But I don't want to have to buy another amp in two years or less.

  • @tenhundredkills Personally I have not had any durability issues with them. Like any technology their new products have bugs and they get worked out. Having said that, I have never had any problem with them. I think many of the reviews in which people have had issues are either because they had purchased said product when it first came out. Also because of the price point of Bugera amps often they go to first time tube amp owners who tend to mishandle them. There are exceptions I'm sure.

  • @kromekrush Thanks for the insight. This will be my first tube amp if I decide to buy it. I'm still a little leery of buying a Chinese amp though...

  • @tenhundredkills There is no reason something made in china is not made as good as it is in America, or Europe. Why would a Chinese employee be less competent than a American one? This used to be so, but now there is rarely a difference. I'm not defending the bugera, but i'm just saying this. My amp is the 6505+112 model by peavey also made in china

  • @JustSomeRandomNewb I've had some problems in the past with Chinese made gear. Combining my past experiences, I'm just a bit hesitant. I'd rather pay more to have American, German, or even Japanese gear (all of which I've never had any problems).

  • @tenhundredkills I understand. To be honest I fought with the idea for a while myself. For me personally I had a lot of outdated points of view on chinese made music gear. Anymore though I find that the Chinese/Korean/Japanese stuff is often made with really good quality now a days. Ultimately its your sound and your gear. There are a lot of really great brands of gear out there. All you can really do is play as much as possible and make your choice from there. I wish you happy hunting. :-)

  • @kromekrush and what $600 head might that be?

  • @FletcherHabit the 6262 new is about $550. I didn't order it online so naturally there was tax with it. It came out to about 600 bucks.

  • lmfao arnold!

  • @Scrabs96 Machine Head - Old

  • Someone can tell me the name of the song?

  • bugeras are just incredible close to the mercedeces , they will go up in prize for sure within the next years for sure

  • Bugera!!!!!!!

  • I was considering buying a Bugera 6262 amp as the cheap alternative to the 5150 or 6505 today, it is. But then i got an offer on a Peavey valveking 100 with a 412 SLANT for the same price that a Bugera top costs.

  • @MetalHagstrom The Valveking isn't a 5150 or 6505, I almost got one too but then I realized that just because it says Peavey doesn't make it sound better. The Bugera sounds better than the Valveking, although as far as money goes it was a good deal with the cab and all.

  • @PPPatrickWWW

Just bought it and i am really satisfied. For the price it has a marvelous tone and a nice clean channel. The only thing i could ask for is that the gain channel could be a bit beefed up, but for the price i paid (barely 400 bucks including the cab) it sounds awesome. Maybe i'll get a new cab or amp in the future.

  • @MetalHagstrom I'm pretty sure there are a lot of really easy mods that people do to make them sound better, especially on the gain channel, one that comes to mind is people jump the effects loop. Also, the amp would probably work well with a tubescreamer type pedal (if you're on a budget, a digitech bad monkey or a boss sd-1 would word), to give it some more balls. Good luck with your new amp!

  • @PPPatrickWWW

I read on some forums about that thing with a jumper cable in the effects loop and it really works, it adds a lot more clarity and mid to the tone. I'm going to use my fathers old boss ds-1 and crank up the gain just a little bit. And thx for all the advice, really needed!

  • Bugera 6262 lows sounds better .. so it wins for me , but both are brutal amps

  • You may hate me for asking, but what song is this?

  • @Mayflyification Machine Head - Old :)

  • @cichowina

    Thanks alot, mate.

  • Hello Ola ! Witch amp do you think sounds best . For me it is pretty much a draw , in sound ! but i know that buggera has some issues with there amps so i am skeptic about them but they sound amasing in your hands .

  • @Rangnardur The issues are not valid on the newer bugera amps, belive me they are amazing. I own a 6262, did a shout out between Peavey 6506+ and mine and the tone is way better. Louder, clearer and tighter. For example I had the volume on 5 on both amps and the 6262 was way louder.

  • It's definately the Bugera for me...cause i can't afford the 5150

  • I don't think the Bugera sounds scooped. I think the Peavey has more definition, but the Bugera has more low end and more punch. It's the Bugera for me!

  • peavey or bugera a better fit for genre such as posthardcore hardcore metalcore? bands such as ofmiceandmen thedevilwearsprada ofmachines confide? amphead

  • @joshcravesheartcore most of those bands play peavey 6505

  • Honestly identical. Bugera is one hell of a company man.

  • I don't really play metal anymore... but one amp I wish I didn't let go of (kinda had to) was my original 5150. That was a relentless amp.

  • SWEDEN !!!!!!!!

  • some of these comments make me laugh, 'the Peavey sounds more fluffy while the Bugera sounds more squiggy'.

It's funny how snobby some guys are, they are so butthurt that a cheap amp can hold its own against the Peavey.

If Ola changed the video so it showed the wrong amp, you guys would be praising the Bugera and slating the Peavey. They are both sick amps, deal with it!

  • @6EELZE6U6666 The main difference, is the bugera isnt made internally as well. Things are more likely to break, and if you look online, its almost mandatory to retube these things. BUT I will say, Theres a slight difference in tone, but they both sound great, and for cost the bugera is mighty tough to beat! :p

  • Many thanx to Ola, now I can choose which amp could provide the characters that I need, even fer lead/solo, clean and crunchy rhythm. Especially as I only have a limited budget. Hehehe...

  • Is it just me, or is the 5150 II just really spectacular in your demos? It seems to sound better than many of the amps three times its price. I really love the sound of it. Both of these amps sound great by the way! For the price, the 6262 is definitely a cool amp.

  • Random people will hate me for doing this comparison. Your a frikkin genious :d

  • song?????(nice playing Ola)

  • I like the tone of the 6262 better. This video helped me pick my next amp. :) for the price I can live with a 6262.

  • Maybe I'm sounding like an asshole but.. What is the song you play on this video? :)

  • what would you guys suggest for a combo amp under 1000?

  • @MrLewisMovies 6505+112 if your into metal. try a VOX AC30 (the full tube one) if you like cleans and slight overdrive. I have both (use the Vox for cleans and some bluesy licks) and they are both incredible quality for their price.

  • @JustSomeRandomNewb i am a huge metalhead. I have the 112, but i dont like it for some reason. it sounds very bland (unlike the half stack version) Im looking for amps with great metal tone like this guy but without paying more than 1000

  • @MrLewisMovies I would suggest going to a guitar store and ask if you may test the 112 with an external cab, that could make a lot of difference, and cost less than this. (try a 2*12mesa, they are amazing)

  • @JustSomeRandomNewb thank you, im going to school right next to the boston GC so i will try that soon!

  • @MrLewisMovies Try it with an EQ-pedal in the loop, and different speakers and maybe an overdrive pedal. Original the 6505+ 112 is very boring, I know...

  • @userapan what are your suggestions for speakers?

  • @MrLewisMovies I have only tested it with Celestion V30:s, but they're the most popular metal/rock speakers today. Mesa, Engl, Marshall, Orange and Ola Englund uses them so... I like them anyway!

  • @MrLewisMovies bugera 333 xl combo or bugera magician when its out.

  • 2:09 hahhahahhahahahahah

  • MACHINE HEAD!! yes!!

  • I have owned my Bugera for over 8 months now, no problems at all, sounds great etc etc. But the peavey does sound better, but in saying that i couldn't justify the massive price difference (especially being in Australia)

  • 58,000 veiws exact..

    WIN.

  • i think we can all agree that ola has better tone then machine head

  • @TrippyTro thank you man, but I disagree... :)

  • @fearedse its just that your tone is a lot fuller with that bottom end.... maybe the whole produced album of theirs is throwing me off but ill know for sure when i see them live in February

  • @TrippyTro Ola is the shit no doubt about it, but Ive seen machine head 5 times live and their tone is always fuckin great. They're pro's.

  • @bellingerga ill have to confirm when i see them in feb!

  • @TrippyTro

Agree, by Bugera .. MH!? Whos that? :)

  • "people will hate me for doing this comparison" LOL!

maybe you should post the pre-edit version. raw guitars..

  • @UltiMogr A raw guitar comparison would be awesome. Could help people like myself continue to judge which of these two would be best for our personal tastes

  • Damn fine comparison. Obviously the amps sound VERY similiar but I think the 5150 sounds just a hair warmer.

  • Actually the Bugera sounds more mid-ish to me... Too close to call, both are great. Which is a great praise to the Bugera.

  • both amps very similar. Peavey sounds a little better, but not by hundreds of dollars...

  • great demo, nice touch at 2:09

  • Bugera sounds thin

  • I bought Peavey 6505+ Combo amp in this summer and i like it very much! suits for my playing style

  • hey ola can you do a comparision with the bugera trirec and the triple rectifier ? cheers

  • Too close man The Peavey has more mids. Im a Peavey guy but man for the money the Bugera cant be beat. By the way incredible video man I broke out the headphones for this one. Great Song also to play for comparison. One thing is for sure the Bugera is a 5150II Clone.

  • I don't know about you guys, but the Bugera sounds more scooped to me.

I love fucking love my mids, so it's the 5150 for me!

  • @justintfs93 Isn't it weird, you chose the 5150 becouse you don't like scooped mids, I chose it becouse I like scooped mids! XD A bit ironic but still metal so it doesn't matters! :)

  • @justintfs93 i love my mids, but i love my money too, so i'd go for the bugera. their pirce is absolutely incredible. but i don't need an amp now.

  • @justintfs93 so what? just add some mids. the thing is: does the 5150 worth the extra cash?

  • @justintfs93

I think the mids on the Bugera are more mushy so they don't stand out as much.. not necessarily scoopier. The Peavey is much more defined.

  • @justintfs93 It does sound a bit more scooped but, They are super close in tone. I bet you could ad more mids to the bugera. Great video comparison by the way.

  • 5150 II for sure!

  • the bugera sounds better imo

  • I've had 2 bugeras, both broke within the 1st year. If you buy an amp, and are planning not to move it out of your bedroom, or wherever you play, bugera is ok, they just feel cheap. But if you are going to tour, they wont last long. That is why bugeras are so cheap.

  • @JustSomeRandomNewb

well i cannot say that. i play on my bugera for like 2 years now, never had any problems. i was on tour with it and i was at home.... i carried it through could n hot weather AND played it outside. what i may admit is, that the quality of bugera is not always that high. if you are lucky, like me, and some other users on youtube, you may get a very good one... but it could break in 3 months.... but thats life.

  • hey ola is there any chance you have this tabbed out somewhere?

  • I KNOW THIS SONG!!!

but i dont get its name >_<

  • @suxxxez It's Old by Machine Head

  • 303 likes, and only 3 dislikes.

dude, now you got 304 likes.

thanks for the good vid! \m/

  • how high do you have your gain on the bugera?

  • Awesome video, awesome playing, awesome song. So yeah... Frankly the differences are almost too small to really matter. Both amps would be perfectly usable. Personally I liked the 5150 clips a little better because the tone had more grit to it.

  • what's song?

  • @123dayma machine head - old ....

  • they sound similar but the 5150 has more balls IMO.

  • BEST METAL RIFF EVER !!!

  • This is like choosing between a Porsche and a Ferrari. You literally cannot make a bad choice with these 2 amps.

  • is your lead gain on the 6262 on 4/10?? how much gain is there loll?? enough for any metal:)?

  • @bibiranger Okay, from a (very happy) bugera owner (that only plays metal)... YES there is enough gain!!!! I usually run my gain on 3 with a tube screamer, or about 5 without it (changes the attack/eq/feel, not really for hte amount of gain), above 5 on the gain really just makes it less tight, although good for some styles of metal. But, I don't know of ANYTHING that it doesn't have enough gain for. Invest in a noise gate though ;).

  • hahahhaha arnold schwarzernegger at 1:14 ? lmao why!?

  • @SUPitsDave Why not?

  • @pooluke41 well played, sir

  • Bugera sounds a little fleshier.

  • HOW HAVE I NOT SEEN THIS. FUCKING MACHINE HEAD

  • @GrandRiffAuto73 MACHINE FUCKING HEAD*

  • @MrSharpenis i knew someone would correct me lmfao

  • @GrandRiffAuto73 Put you in yo place foo' XD

i dont think it really matters where you put the fucking in machine and head. as long as there is one XD

    for instance

    "MACHINE FUCKING HEAD"

    "FUCKING MACHINE HEAD"

    "MACHINE HEAD, FUCK!"
