This is quite an entertaining clip and song, but I distinctly remember another version of this song that Big Bird sang when there were several other animals sleeping over with him in his nest one night. I remember him singing the line, "Let's do it, let's fall asleep." At the end of the song, he said to the audience, "It worked. Good night." That meant his song got everyone to fall asleep. Then, he went to sleep himself. Does anyone remember that one, and can somebody post it?
Can somebody tell me the name of those cute creatures at 1:03? I recognize them from my childhood but I'd like to know their original name, where I live they are called "anicetos". Really were a big part of my little me. Thanks!
Haha, I had this song in my head for some reason...I can't believe I found it on here! Must have been about 13 years ago when I heard this...even though I was 6, saying that makes me feel old
Since my replies usually don't show up where they're supposed to, I'm replying to abbe2578's comment, "WOW!!! litttle kids are going to start to get the wrong message"
Oh, I wouldn't worry, abbe2578 - unless they start getting inferiority complexes from their inability to lay eggs I don't think they're going to have any problems. :)
AMEN!!! I'm the first one to raise a stink about kids getting the wrong message & there's no need to w/this vid! If they pickup anything fishy from this clip then they know too much already ^_^
The first time I watched this song I was like... Oh my god! I can't beleive they said "do it"! My little cuz and I were watching it and he ask me " wat do animals do to lay eggs?" I was like OMG!
You know, the first part of the opening refrain to the original "Let's Do It" (as in "Let's Fall in Love") could probably be used here. It goes: birds do it, bees do it, even educated fleas do it." They all lay eggs, so they could have put it in here as well.
It seems like children's shows were just more intelligent back in my day. I grew up on Sesame Street. What are kids exposed to these days? All sorts of multi-colored, intellectual cream puffs. What hope is there for generations to follow without quality children's programming?
I loved this when I was little. It made me actually like the real song. I miss the days when childrens shows were actually educational and fun and didn't talk to the audience like they were stupid. Kids know more than you think they do, and dumbing down their shows isn't gonna stop that. It's just condesending. When I have children, I'm only gonna let them watch what I was able to watch as a child. None of that Dora the Explorer kind of dribble.
I could be him. Or it could be Steve Whitmire. This was first aired on Season 24. So it would not have Jim Henson or Richard Hunt because they have died.

I think they're saying "jungle denizens."
vcrjohn1984 3 years ago
I thought it was "jungled amazons" since some birds from that area are often casually referred to as amazons.

Denizens, meaning 'inhabitants'

I hear Fran Brill, Marty Robinson, Noel MacNeal and Joey Mazzarino
MarshalGrover 3 years ago
Specifically, which animals do each of them perform?
Garrettk41 3 years ago
Fran is the hawk & the crow
Marty Robinson is the snail
Joey Mazzarino is the aligator & the slug
Moel is the snake

Also, I think the dinosaur sounds like Carroll Spinney.

That doesn't sound like a female voice.
MarshalGrover 3 years ago
I'm not saying I know for certain. I just hear a trace of Grungetta's voice in there.
Garrettk41 3 years ago
I'd rename this to "Let's Lay an Egg" to avoid any perverted comments if I were you.
MarshalGrover 3 years ago 3
The original lyrics are "Let's do it, let's fall in love."
