  • What are the girls names from left to right, front row, back row. I found recent interviews of these beauties but can't determine who is who in this video; I know there is Babs, Flick Colby, Ruth? DeeDee, and I can't remember the other two.

  • Love the way the blonde bitch on our left gets the routine wrong but manages to catch up within a couple of bars. The outfits should be compulsory in offices and schools everywhere.

  • lol nice, i have a lot cleaner copy of that, must upload some day.

  • @thx1138X Please upload the mutha!

  • Best one they ever did. Like Alf Garnet said; "Bludy fairy elephants" To which Mrs Garnet replied......."Since when have you ben interested in Elephants?"

  • Great to see Flick Colby dancing, thanks for posting.

  • fantastic! I'm 15 again.

  • A little before my day really ,but I could watch this all day,Pity the pressure of time made them go all literal.

  • Perfect!

  • As said: clearly a rehearsal: normally the cameras would be threading their way through a sea of people.

Pan's in go-go mode are just too much for a faint heart (even in this resolution)!

  • @BobTheMunificent Yeah some of the young women nowadays should do this ,never mind Zumba dancing ,they were just great .

  • Yes --agreed definately the best-I have come back to it a few times as I remember seeing it as a wee girl. It is helped of course by the beat of this brilliant Creedance track. Yes the routines did get worse and more literal ,as someone has posted, with the passage of time. This one is rawer and the better for it.

  • Flick Colby was asked to choreograph interpretations of the songs.

Unlike the Solid Gold dancers [off Solid Gold, the Americans version of TOTP'S]. In other words, faggy Las Vegas style. Go watch any act on Solid Gold, the dancing is THE SAME FOR EVERY SONG!. Posturing, high kicking, schmaltzy, samey.

  • (cont) These women weren't objectified. They were just quite ordinary lovely women dancing. Later on in the 80's we had various less good versions such as legs and co but for the cameramen it seemed like a guilty pleasure. You'd find there were so many jump cuts you couldn't see the girls at all. You'd suddenly be looking at a mike stand or a lighting gantry. If i was standing in that room I wouldn't be looking at a lighting gantry. Thanks for putting this clip up!

  • This is my favourite too. The flick of the hip at 16 seconds in causes a complete mental system shutdown. I get the psychological equivalent of the blue screen of death. I grew up as a little boy watching this kind of thing on totp. The fact that such a simple pleasure as a watching a girl dance is no longer possible on the television shows how far we've come.

  • It's such a shame there isn't a better quality video of this pans People routine. Love the song and dancing from another era.

  • Excellent. This was actually rehearsal footage, which is why some of the girls loose the plot occasionally. And I believe the tape of the actual performance was one of the ones wiped by the Beeb,so this is all there is.Kind of bitter sweet too,as the routines became increasingly literal.A sort of wonderful "here's what you could have won" moment set against Flick Colby's hall of shame in later years that included Gilbert O'Sullivan's "Get Down",Bobby Pickett's "Monster Mash" amongst others. Sigh.
