I am one of the last crew members of HS KRITI (EX LST 1076). HS KRITI decommissioned and cannibalized, in order the SYROS to be repaired. Very Old (almost 80 y.o) "sailors" walked around of Souda bay in Greece lugging themselves, but approaching the ship they were reborn and started Jumping on the main deck. I remember an old sailor to explain me crying how a KAMIKAZE hit his ship and his best friend died on WW-II. Amazing people!!!
Thanks for preserving a part of history. I am retired military and do like seeing people like you keeping history alive for the next generation. I went by it several times when it was in St. Louis but I was driving 16 wheeler and couldn't stop.
Since I am fulfilling military service for ROC Navy on a 64th year old LST 230 (formally LST-578), though the details had been changed, now equipped with air conditioning, 3 layer lunch box beds, different engines, this is still a great video to show my friends how does it feel to live in a LST, the disquieting hammocks that scare me every night, the deck covered with my sweat where we convene and hammering every day etc. So much indelible memories come form there. thanks to the filmmaker.
