  • Rockabilly at its VERY BEST!!!!!!!!

  • whats sad about this is losing such a musical talent.just think how far he would have gone in music if he hadn't passed away so quickly.he had incredible ideas for songs.

  • It was a less-than-fully-capable pilot trying to fly in snow - not an airplane pilot.

  • @dmperry100 Well said!

  • if buddy hadn't been killed there would have never been the Beatles or Hollies.its sad that we had to lose such a talent but look what he influenced.John lennon said that if it wasn't for Buddy Holly there would of never beeb the Beatles

  • @46Doug: hmmm. So you're saying if Buddy had not gotten on that airplane, he would somehow have prevented the Beatles from forming? I think you meant to say if Buddy had not made so much great music BEFORE he was killed there would have been no Beatles.

  • @46Doug they were already forming. they needed some buddy but they didnt need him to die

  • Its called "I'm gonna set my foot right down" it even says it at the beginning of the video....Its about my favorite Buddy Holley (note correct spelling) ever...

  • i hate my state beccause his airplane crashed here

  • @doublemagikarp im not angry ive always liked buddys music alot but elvis is My personal favorite singer

  • buddy was an awesome musician but i doubt he had the charisma elvis had.

  • @62Elvis that's true!! but have you ever heared elvis play a guitar like that? haha just kidding i love both!

  • when buddy sings it he says "gonna SET (not Put ) my foot ...."

  • cool song by the great buddy holly

  • For more music like this, check out TimeTunnelmusic.co.uk

  • Thoght Elvis was first.......,from Japan.

  • Comment removed

  • @62Elvis Bill Haley was the first one to do that. Gene Vincent, Dale Hawkins and Eddie Cochran too.

  • Why has this post only had 57,000 hits for this legend, and flash in the pan Britney Spears gets millions...... This is all wrong. Music has died and the internet is to blame - lol

    Mikey xx

  • pretty sure if he hadnt passed away he would have blew elvis out of the water

  • @mathewmissouri77 buddy was awesome but "blow elvis outta the water? get real!!

  • @62Elvis - to alot of muscians yea he does, elvis was more of a performer ie: looks and dance moves ,but he only wrote about 2 songs in his whole life where as buddy holly wrote most of his songs and was tall skinny lanky really curly hair and glasses and he still made it which was rare for that time period and im not putting elvis down i like him im just saying musically i think buddy blows him away but performer wise nobody ever will top elvis these are just my thoughts so dont get pissed off

  • Fantastic bopper!

  • GREAT RECORDINGS

  • boy could buddy rock

  • now that's music, folks!

  • Love it love it love it!

  • wow this great

  • some of the best stuff he ever did...

  • Thanks for posting, and it's I'm Gonna SET My Foot...

  • Thnaks for posting, and it's I'm Gonna Set My Foot...

  • Man this is my favorite Buddy Holly song! Its got a really good driving beat.

  • @bwd81977 One of, if not my favorite too! Just think if that plane crash never happened! I like "Think It Over" too, Buddy had the beat! ;)

  • @jvnicks One of my favorites as well, I love the first solo, I consider it one of his finest solos ever.

I think it over everyday Jvnicks, but it isn't important what I'd do, because Buddy Holly was sort of a modern Don Juan, when the days are blue and nights are black, stars appears and the shadows are falling, then I'm changing all of my changes. But that'll be the day when buddy won't fade away. I guess it doesn't matter any more, but you are my one desire, so let's Rock-a-Bye Rock!

  • Mcdick there was no saving that flight.....was stupid of them to fly in that weather.

  • Buddy had great recordings........

  • i like this song

  • How about this, Ooby Dooby and this song came out the same year, 1956, Roy born in 1936, think Buddy was born in '36 too. Buddy Holly, Lubbock West Texas, Roy Wink West Texas. You'd have to investigate the similarities in stead of just saying one of 'em came out first.

  • Ooobby Doobby hahahaha

  • R.I.P.

  • great song from the great buddy holly

  • Real good rabilly by the late great Buddy.

  • the real king of rock and roll.

  • Love that echo plex.Who would thought to do this but Buddy.Love all his songs...

  • @ndhudecz This is pre-Echoplex...they used to use two recorders / tape machines....recording the gap (delay) between the two machines and the resulting "echo" and mixing it...the reason it is so distinctive and consistent is because there was only one way to do it back in those days...and the delay time and single "slap" repeat was all ya had...other artists sometimes used natural room reverb or echo and put a mic in a large room or cavern....gotta love the early days!

  • awesome

  • crappy airlines pilots have killed more celbrities then AIDS and cocaine combined.

  • @McDicker96 Well your right there but i dont think it was the pilots fault completley more like 65% the other 35% was the bad weather.

  • Comment removed

  • @McDicker96 I bet you otherwise if we add heroin to the combo. Plus booze...then I win hands down.

  • @McDicker96 Buddy Holly, Ricky Nelson... so much talent wasted by those crappy pilots :'(

  • @McDicker96 seems that way, but there is 1 exception: the guy who took out Jim Croce and Maury Muehleisen. Apparently he was a competent, experienced flyer, and the weather was fine that day, but he was late and had to jog a few kilometers to the runway to pick up Jim and Maury for their next gig. The pilot had a heart attack in flight and lost control of the vehicle--the post-mortem showed he had blocked arteries.

  • @McDicker96 airline pilots had nothing to do with Holly's death.

  • @McDicker96 Wrong. Statistically, pilots of small -to-midsize planes have killed a greater percentage. I'm a pilot for 40 years now and I've never hurt anybody. I've even flown a few musicians now and then. I also play guitar myself. When a well-known singer/guitarist happens to die in a plane crash the news media goes wild with it --- guess it's more sensational than someone like Presley or Hendrix overdosing in some sleezy motel room. Next time check your facts.

  • Sure does sound like the origin to Orbison's "Ooby Dooby". Can you say copyright infringement?

  • No, not at all as there was no copy rights at this time.

  • How come your dog bites me instead of that other cat.

  • @heyzog that's the best line in this song! Buddy was the best :D

  • Love this song!

    R.I.P. Buddy

  • Great and wild. Thanks for posting. Greetings from Spain.

  • truly awesome, i bet this would of been a hit if it was release when he was alive...

  • Here it's Feb. 3,'09 ,50 years since the music died & I'm listening to Buddy Holly all day. I saw his last show in Milwaukee & a short time later he was dead. It devastated my whole class.

    R.I.P., Buddy.

  • Hey Ambush

That's exactly what i did. the man was a genious stolen from us. But if he didn't invent rockabilly, with this stuf, then who did (tongue frimly in cheek).

    Mikey xx

  • Mike, as much as I respect Holly I don't thing Rockabilly was invented but rather evolved . Bill Haley, Carl Perkins not to mention a few who had one time hits, Buddy Knox, & we can't forget the Big Bopper. All great in their own way, all combine to be the Rockabilly invasion which beats for all time the British Invasion, IMHO. Buddy is still da bomb, though.

  • Great track

I'm assuming this came out posthumously

I can see why the early Beatles were so taken

I'm assuming Buddy wrote this as well. Superb songwriter, really..

    RIP Buddy (Feb 3, 1959)

  • great tune !!! will learn this among many

  • BUDDY HOLLY FAN FOREVER. ALWAYS REMEMBER FEB 3th 1959. HIS SONGS ARE 50 EARS OLD BUT STILL SOUNDING AS RECORDED YESTERDAY. IF THERE IS A GOD THAN WHY BUDDY?? feb 3 2009 a sad day to come.... 50 years

  • Great Rockabilly? Buddy Rules RIP

  • Buddy Holly. The best.

  • great song from one of the greatest singer/songwriters that ever walked the earth. absolute raw rock n roll. god bless buddy holly

  • My dad loved Buddy Holly, but was not a record buyer, so he discovered a lot of unheard songs as I bought a lot of his records. I think his all time favourite was "True love ways"

  • Having a great singer is so damn important when it came to this kind of music.

  • A great rockabilly song with inimitable Buddy Holly vocal style... just love the slap on the upright bass.

  • @PeterOKER The upright bass sound is so amazing in early rock and roll music - We need more UPRIGHT BASS!
