That is really creative. You may consider using the electric typewriter instead of the manual ones. There aren't any manual typewriters in the market anymore. Even there is, the quality of the new manual typewriter is not built as strong as the old ones. I looked for a manual smith corona typewriter (50's) for long time. I finally bought one from ebay for $71.
Wow...I found this on google while searching for a vintage typewriter in the Boston area. Please don't ruin the antique typewriters that are being sought after by collectors or those who simply wish to have one nice old typewriter as home decor. I think it's kind of sad that they are being abused by constant pounding.
"Home decor" At least they're using them, when the old type writers give out, then the collectors can have them, since just going to let it sit there, hoping that no one will try to actually use it. I was with you until you said home decor, as for The Boston Typewriter Orchestra, they can just buy new manual typewriters from Amazon; Olivetti MS25 Typewriter and the Walterdrake Improved Manual Typewriter are in stock. I don't know if they're still being made, but they're in stock.
Awesome. Very creative. You're kind of like a punk band in that you started out making noises in a bar that annoyed people and then just expanded on that.
As usual, RocketBoom rolls out the unique stuff! Next thing you know, they'll be starring in a Fortune500 15 or 30 second TV ad as a metaphor for creativity and new possibilities. If so, I just hope they get a good pay in the process. :)
I like your stuff, and the good thing about your vids, if there is something interesting, I can find the link in the infobox. Not many do this that good.
@ROCKETBOOM would have been a lot better if people weren't talking over it the whole time. You would think that in a video about a typewritter orchestra it would show at least a few seconds of the orchestra playing with out someone talking over it.
i was washing dishes and wondered 'is there such thing as a typewriter orchestra' i went straight onto youtube and wow there is one!! ;D

Save the typewriters! I collect them, actually. Please don't destroy anything really nice! (That poor little green Smith Corona!)

Do they have an electric version as well as the acoustic ones?
bcgrote 1 year ago
Fantastic! You could use the big wooden cases from the 1950s to create acoustic echoes?

The typewriters they use are a dime a dozen.

We should save all 1st generation iPods for collectors and people who would like to have them for home decor.

I realize that the limits of human endeavor
are being expanded continually,
but I never woulda thought of taking typewriters
to the Unplugged Stage without a net.
You guys are nuts.
I think it's brilliant!

Sorry but that was kind of dumb. I'm open to new ideas, but that just seems like they're trying to hard to make something original.

When I read the title I thought they were going to use Tommy guns to make songs. Why is it a "Boston" typewriter?
