If hes using two Kontrol X1s with traktor why are they in MIDI mode? (the green light is on signifying this) is there an advantage? Traktor works perfect with the x1 and im pretty sure you can map your own things to it without midi mode (may be wrong though)

Ho Guys I feel so bad sometime, I was a DJ from 1978 to 1994, work my ass of in clubs in Italy and Los Angeles from 83 on, I can honestly say that I was a great DJ, read the crowd make them dance from 9 to 3 am no stop and you have to change style and sound continuously to make sure that people dance all night, you are just considered an employee of the club. Now a days DJ are having so much more fun but they are not better that the ones that now have a regular job.

Im so lucky. I was clubbing back in late 80s early 90s in London and you couldn't even see the DJ. So what is great about that? Well the focus and energy goes into the crowd and it feeds into a creative club vibe with lots of mini groups grooving to each other. But then super star DJs appeared and set up with the crowd focus on them. It really isnt the same, you might as well be at a U2 concert.

It's sad to me to see most of the people looking at the dj or just standing there with a cellph in their hand. Luckily there is many people who just dance. And drugs are a good additive but just that. I love the music and dancing with it. That's all. I can go by miself with nothing on me (you know what I mean) and just enjoy dancing to good music and have a great time :)

Instead of "lots of mini groups" the crowd becomes one big group grooving together. It's still all about the music! Interaction with the crowd is a big, if not the biggest part of being a good DJ.

The name of that tracks are "Why the hell they used the videocam mic instead of properly plug a cable on the mixer?" and "Saturated ambient sound is way cooler than clear sound for a N.I. presentation". Come on!! And btw, that controllers are too big to fit on a laptop bag, the same as the 1D. It turns out to be a little stupid to use digital Dj soft and a laptop to avoid moving tons of 12" and then load yourself with a ton of controllers. That's why I love the Stanton SCS 3 series.

If you look at it, you'd see that the controllers are slightly under the level of the Xone mixer, wich is quite high. Maybe the pieces under the controllers (with the NI logo) are just detachable risers, so in that case the units won't be so big as I thought. I hope so!

Recently bought the Xone4D mainly for Studio n maybe a few gigs (don't intend to bring it everywhere) so I still use the Faderfox. Now these controllers look freaking hot. Pause the video at 19" and see all the rotary/buttons. Wouldn't mind upgrading the faderfox to one of these things. They look amazing!

NI is doing more than a simple midi controller. it has a big software underneath it that makes integration much more complex and versatile than CC#64 -> volume1. (i hope so)

If you dont believe me, compare the NI maschine with a m-audio trigger fingers.

hopefully this one will cost the same or less than the xone 1d, and yet i'll be more powerfull.

(anyways that 1d really rocks, how i wish i could have one)

Anyway what I meant was if you need a Macbook Pro + Traktor + Ableton + MIDI controllers + 8 channel soundcard + mixer, it's expensive, especially since many digital DJ's use timecodes so they still have SL1200's or CDJ's anyway. But yeah if someone just wants Traktor Pro + a midi controller, the costs are reasonable
