the 1970-1986 Citroen GS/GSA was assembled in Rennes , France Arica, Chile Jakarta, Indonesia Mozambique Mangualde, Portugal Vigo, Spain Port Elizabeth, South Africa Bangkok, Thailand Koper, Slovenia Mutare, Zimbabwe
without doubt the most advanced escort-class car of its era- only the alfasud came close, sadly the cit also shared the alfas woeful build quality (rust) and were pretty hard to work on compared to more conventional cars.
@MTUJeeper no accelerometers, it's all mechanical. There's just a valve on the anti-roll bar that lets more hydraulic fluid into the system if the car is sitting low, or lets it back out if it's sitting high. You can adjust the height of the car by setting the spring tension in the valve linkage. There are loads of articles out there explaining it all.
The Activa suspension on some Xantias actually used accelerometers to keep the car perfectly level in corners at any speed.
yeah you have a point but a car that bursts at 80 mph that weighs 4,000 pounds(over 2 tons)+ in american wouldn't go anywhere because its so heavy. also no offense to any of you Citroen lovers and europeans but i think this car is ugly. now don't go and call me a capitalist pig.
wow it can drive with 3 wheels who gives a shit. why would someone buy a car and then pop a tire just to drive it or even attempt to drive with 3. you'd look like a fucking retard.
What happens when a tyre bursts at speed? Not much, in one of those. Try it in a car with really stiff suspension some time, and when you get out of hospital let me know how you got on.
@TheLonelyLumberJack ever get a flat tire and your spare is bad? or maybe you don't have one? jesus, dude, think before you type and it's possible that you won't be the one who looks like a fucking retard.
@TheLonelyLumberJack Idiot... I was sitting in the back of my uncle's 1998 Ford Explorer when one of the tires bursted. He lost control and the car rolled over twice. Luckily we were driving on a highway with few other cars. we escaped it with only some bruses, but it could have been a lot worse!
These cars look like a 1989 Vauxhall Astra but the Citroen was designed 20 years earlier in 1969-Citroen had the best engineering brains before computers came along ! One of the true unsung great designs...

We had a 1974 GS club in acid yellow and took it all over Europe - we loved it to bits!

So this car would not have used any accelerometers to be able to handle that? I'm looking at designing a hydropneumatic setup for a monster truck.

I had a blowout (front tyre!!) on a GSA Pallas doing 130kph (highway) and didn't even notice it for about 1 kilometer.
...and don't say what a lousy driver I must be not to notice a blowout, drive one of these and then talk to me!

@xanado74 blowout siturations can vary and may lead to serious accidents in no time. Or might be harmless like yours.

So if you have a flat tire, and don't have a spare, you just take it off, and continue.
Brilliant!!!
