  • I was.. like obsessed with the song a year ago. and then I remember it. and eventually I found it :)

  • nice voice but the way they say "the battle of jericho" sounded so hard.

  • i miss this. =)

  • This is the true voice of the CSGC! Sana magawa rin nila 'to. =))

  • galing nyo tlga :) hahahah

  • anyone else gets the chills at 1:25?

  • i love the three part sapranoe harmoney thats hard to do lolz

  • Simply Amazing hahaha!!

  • i can barely hear the basses.

  • OMG!!!! Go filipino choir!!!! You guys are amazing

  • GRABE!!!!!!!!!!! verrrrryyy nice!!!!! walang ibang nakakagawa nito.....na taga ibang bansa.....Tanging pinoy lang.....

  • 1:37 - *chills*

Possibly the best performance i've ever heard of this piece. and a very decent recording.

    bravo!

  • I think the 2 sopranos should have sang the C at the same time cause the other one's entrance is kinda bad.

  • @superboi10 i think she probably just missed her entrance. but sounds amazing still :]

  • @superboi10 That's how it's supposed to be done. The 1st sop comes in and the 2nd soprano comes to support. That's how we do it too in our choir back in hs.

  • @superboi10 My guess is that she did came in later so that she would have enough air to support that high F! I agree, it sounded a little sloppy, though. Should could have snuck in better.

  • Bravo :) The alto ( sing bases) are strong...hardly to hear this kind of voice, a good one. Just that, I personally a little dislike the slanting back when the singers sing...especially when they reach the high notes :) No offence yea XD

  • Hi! Hope you can invite me to one of your performances in the near future!

  • its the best video in you tube you are really gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooodddddddd the sound of the sopranos is wonderwalf

  • Was that high note really 3rd F from middle C? If so, that was awesome!

  • my high school chamber chorus did this a few years ago, this song is amazing and you guys did an amazing job. seriously this is awesome

  • That high F gave me goose pimples!!!! WOW!

  • pwede po makahingi ng scoresheet po nyan.. kung ok lang po. salamat po

  • I love this rendition

  • This is a continuation for oblivionIIT:

...I believe these three are University-based (I'm not pretty sure about Liturgikon, though, but my classmate [from Science] tried to join and she was accepted) organizations, so you can try to join them even if you are enrolled in GradSchool. What are you majoring in GradSchool, by the way?

  • What a wonderful twist at the end with the whole choir sliding into that one note and the harmonized descants. Great job!

  • I'm currently a graduate student from the UST Graduate School. How can I join any choir at the University?

I wanted to join but I don't know what choir I am allowed to join..Hope you can help me. Thank you very much c".b

  • Hello oblivionIIT. I'm Philippe, I just graduated from the College of Science and am an alumnus of the College of Science Glee Club. There are certain choirs in the University, especially college/faculty-based choirs that allow people to join only if they're students of their respective college/faculty. You could try Coro Tomasino, Liturgikon (from the Conservatory of Music), or maybe the renowned UST Singers.

  • i adore the girL making the obLigato!

    super descant c ate!

    ahehe^^

song 2 ng UCCPCS nung Chamber choir comp

sa meraLco theater!.. tas bass aku!

  • I think overall this is good, but the guys sound much too technical and lacking the hair to give this the soul it needs... this is especially evident at the beginning. :S

  • that was amazing!

  • good two obligattos

  • the two sopranos at the latter was amazing.. we sang this in our choir too.. :)

  • love it.

  • wow My choir did this and Elijah rock and a few others They did Now i am impressed with my choir we'r ento as good as them but pretty clsoe

  • I literally creamed myself at 1:36... Awesome.

  • there's something wrong with your diction.. i think you should improve on it.. :)

  • Haha, I knew I wasn't crazy! LOL I was thinking they were filipino ;D

  • they are amazing

    and i love the accents

  • who id that hitting the hig note with the solo its ah may zing

  • 1:36 OMG

  • is it scary that i can hit that super high F# at the end of this piece...

    when i'm a 16 year old male?

  • whaaa.. i love it.. the first time i heard it sobrang kinilabutan ako.. ginamit din namin ang pieza,, ang ganda ganda!!!..

  • magaling!

  • haha i love the filipino accents

  • p.s that performance gave me freakin' goosebumps!!!!!! GREAT TJOB!

  • yea ur right the altos dont got the medloy but seriously alot ofsongs u can barely hear them! and in this they have a perfect sound to givee the song its spunk!! good job altos!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was AMAZING!!!!!

  • wow, wow.

  • The timing was perfect

  • A little fast but over all good:)

  • I've been watching this periodically as I look through my favorites off and on for about a year, and this still blows me away.

  • O-M-G

    what a performance!!!

    nice one...

got the notes, the dynamics, and the interpretations.....

    great job..

Nice sopranoes specifically in the part at 1:30-1:40..

  • that descant part was amazing... especially that one soprano that sang it an octave above where it was written... friggin' sweet!!!

  • @COALLSTATE07 it wasn't an octave above...it was only a fifth above the actual descant part. But I do agree it was pretty awesome. :)

  • i cant get over the fact that they're pronouncing 'battle' as the 'buttle'...i dunno, it just sounded that way. aside from that, i think this is marvelous!

  • YOUR ALTOS ARE GOOD!

  • i agree!!!

  • this is why I love being a soprano!

  • that's some awesome descant

  • ganda ng arrangement ng kanta! taas ng soprano ha! galing!

  • Thank you once again for all your comments! We really appreciate them! :-)

  • OH. MY. GAWD.

amazing job!! i sang this in grade 10 and i loved this song! the way UST CSGC sang it is.. amazing!! you can definitely hear all the parts, the emotion was GREAT... and holy, when THAT soprano hit the high F... it just sent shivers down my spine. this is the best version i've seen so far!

ang lupit, punyeta! ang galing ninyo! ♥

  • omfg @_@ I like it xD

  • I love this one. Very good choir, best version of the song Ive found so far, up to tempo, very good. congratz

  • binago ung descant na part. wise decision to add more bumps to the goosebumps. napatiptoe nga ung soloist sa sobrang taas!

  • the men's voice are horrible...so dry...

i admire the descant part..more power guys

  • Well, they can't really put that much power behind their voices. Especially the basses, because their notes are so low. I'm a bass in my school's choir, and we had the same problem.

I agree with you on the descant part though. Especially when she hit that high F; I was like OMG!

  • another thing.. magnda din yung dynamics.. heheh.. ciao.. see you guys..

  • i dont want to be the pauper of comments, i just felt that the tenor part was not that dark.. i mean hindi sya masyado tunog negro.. pero lupit ng sop descant..

  • amazing!!

    excellent soprano solo

    =D

  • props to the guys.. ang galing.. alto is a little too loud for me though

  • ah! TALK ABOUT GOOSE BUMPS!!!

  • ogad! that's some shrillery. one things for sure- i did get goosebumps >_>

  • brilliant rendition po! i just wonder where can i get the same satb arrangement of this piece...can any1 help me?

  • I think it's the Moses Hogan arrangement with an altered descant part at the end. At least, that's what it appears to be.

  • I'm so glad we are performing this piece in my choir. Singing bass for this song is amazing.

  • woah threw me at the end

  • That was absolutely amazing!! I played this for every one of my friends in our college choir and they are still amazed by that octave jump soprano part at the end!!!

  • so impressive, congratulations, love the sopranos they were perfectly in tune.

  • A-M-A-Z-I-N-G

  • the top was excellent!!!

  • the men were much better than those of the other choirs who usually attempt this piece (i perfer ravenboytx's men better) but the women were astounding! really the soloists were incedible, and it is very difficult to try to blend with a choir for the ending with notes like those because of how they carry- that was perfection girls!!

  • UNT Choir's (from ravenboytx's video) Basses are GREAT!!! Thanks for your comment, sisazul! :-)

  • I love this version. Truly world-class

  • WOW!! I miss to sing with the group... Sna hindi nmn tinatapat ung camera sa mukha ko di ba lalo na kapag mataas ung kinakanta! wahaha! GO Kuya Dennis!!!

  • This rendition of Battle of Jericho is truly the best, I love this piece and I've been listening to the different interpretations of the song, and truly, this is by far, the best interpretation of this song. Truly world-class!

  • wow, daming comments hehe! miss ko na kumanta kuya dennis... sana matuloy na yung alumni choir natin.

    burn

  • Put a smile on your faces... It's very important...

    But, I LOve your interpretation!!!!

  • The beginning of the first solo was a bit shaky, but overall, a wonderful solo.

Although, I did hear too much Alto 2 and little Soprano 2.

  • I guess there is a need for correcting the pronunciations more. Very powerful Alto (2) singers. More power is need for Bass 2. Sopranos be careful with hitting high notes. Nice obligato duet! All in all its a good performance. Keep going guys! :-)

  • not perfect, but better than most of the jericho's ive seen on youtube

  • Yes, you're right. They are still young but may be in the future they can be good singers.

  • GRABE!!!!

  • The dynamics of this performance is awesome (loved the high note, kick ass!), but for some reason....it didn't have that feeling (save the high note). But then again, when you aren't physically there to enjoy the performance, you kinda miss a wee bit of it.

  • Speechless(:

  • dadi mawky ko un...the guy in green..lol..galing...ahehe

  • i loved the tumble near the end when they sang, "and the ways came tumbling down".

  • dang i got goosebumps on the highest pitch. perfectly accurate.

  • Wow. Hah. That was amazing. It looks like that F about knocked the Soprano off her feet.

  • nice.. ^_^

  • i love this, we almost did this, haha, you can here their accents :D

  • Dear Doc,

I;ve been listenin to this peice all over you tube. And frankly, the comment that the males don't blend well. Well maybe its not really blend maybe its a function of the recording. Because from where I'm listening there is no clash between sections

  • grandioso!!! bravoo

soy de chile y si dios quiere = vamos a cantar este tema....

  • Wow, i was already thinking to myself that this is the best version "The battle of Jericho" that i've seen on youtube and then the high F came and i creamed my trousers.

  • yeah, the asian voice is suberb at least in tenors.

  • GREAT!!!

  • omg this is the best version of the song ive heard. good job soloist and choir. dont forget the director whatever his name

  • After that high F, the high C sounded like no big deal. Haha

  • i like the harmony part except for the first soprano seemed unsure and was sliding her way up to the note instead of just hitting it thats the only thing that ruined it and the vowels it sounded like english was the second language

  • Wow, they did a great job!!! Moses Hogan would be proud!

  • Yeah, I'm still watching it. I always loved the solo part and the song in general, but the adding to it made it more amazing than it already was. It still amazes me after listening to it like twenty times. Yeah, double post.

  • Hi! You know how you said you knew this song very well...umm, i was wonderin if I could ask you something.

You know near 1:04 and how the women sing "Right up to the walls of Jericho" and the men answer "Jericho", well, how come the men sound off key and dissonant? Is it written like that in the music?

    *_^LEI-onsay

  • Yes that's in the piece. When the men answer "Jericho" the chords are as follows: JE(Fm6) RI(Fm) CHO(Fm7). That's why maybe you hear it as dissonant. Thanks!

  • I was watching this, listening, etc, thinking, hey this was pretty good. Then there was the top soprano part. Now, I know this song, so I was expecting it. There was an extra part, a harmony on top of the regular part, and I just dropped my jaw. Wow.

  • haai, keep up the good work..

im proud to be a filipino

  • omg tht was awesome....

  • i think this is the groups interpretation of the song..

because Jericho of the Bible is an Hebrew or Israelite... that's why they emphasized with the letter R...

  • my choir is doing this song, it's awesome!

  • that was freakin awesome, especially the part where you added to the solo.

  • Very awesome. I sang this song in my Tenth year. It was great fun :}

It's kind of heard to understand, though. You might want to work on diction. That could easily be the recording, though.

    This was very well sung.

  • I go to a performing arts school and our choir did this for our Gala. I sing in the bass section and I never realized how little the low bass comes through. Excellent job to the tenors and sopranos though. that solo was wicked.

  • Hey, i'm from Canada, and its vids like these that make me proud to be a flip! YAY! and haha go tenors ;)

  • Thank you once again for all your comments! We'll take note of them so we can further improve our singing. You may also like to watch our other videos. Just type ust csgc choral music in the search bar & click search, then choose a video. Enjoy! GOD bless! :-)

  • that was really good.. but still found some errors...every thing was GREAT except... too many 1st sopranos... and the soloist was really good.. like the things u added...at the end the cord was for the word (IN) was off .. i heard 1 baratione on the wrong note.. but otha than that... that was great....

    98-Superior Rating

    Thanks....

  • too much first soprano

great control of rhythm and dynamics though. what can i say, that's how asians do. (i'm asian; that wasn't racist)

  • WOW.

  • what can i say the best

  • WOW I am a lover of choirs and choral music and I have yet to hear this Moses Hogan arr. done better!

  • wow, our school is doing this for our concert and we sound nothing like you guys. you guys absolutely sang that song so well. I can't believe the note she hit, and that note isnt on the version of the sheet music we have. just simply amazing

  • woohoo!go science!we sang that in our high school choir!woohoo that girl really hit that note.!!graduate na lahat sila malamang dahil wala nang pamilyar na mukha e.*;*

  • Go CSGC! =)

  • Sir, I have a choir in church though this kind of singing may not be for worship (it might be too much for people in the mood for prayer)I asked one of my members to watch this. I finally got a copy of this from another conductor and frankly, it is tempting. I watched another video of this peice from youtube and frankly, even the original (the one with moses hogan) is not as terse, well controlled nor as fantastic as yours. Thanks for sharing.

  • You're welcome! Thank you for your comment & good luck to your choir as well! :-)

  • AWESOME!! I am in TEARS right now!! that high note was...*shivers* DAAAAYYYUUUMM!!

thank you SOOO much for dis vid! i LUV IT!!

    *_^LEI-onsay

  • duuuude i got goosebumps. we are singin this is our choir this year and.. just.. wow. haha. i love this song.

  • i love this.

  • I love this song even more now because of this video. ou guys blew us away when they came two years ago, I'll never forget the powerof Clodburst. That's when I was introduced to whitacre. and this song.. Damnnnn

  • the beauty of choirs from the Philippines.

  • Thank you! May I know the name of your choir? Good luck with your performance!

  • Thank you very much for all your comments!

  • The basses need an individual clinic. The sopranos kick ass though and that high F kinda made me hard. LOL.

  • I've heard the Moses Hogan Choir and an all male rendition of the same song. UST sure made it more voluptous. Great show. And clear sounds too

    Bravo

  • Very Good! I'm amazed! I'm an alumni of the UST Singers this choir when Jingbee Mendaez was the president and I must say the choir came a long way and sound sooo good. Just wondering who's the musical director behind CSGC right now! Kudos to you sir!

  • Hi Chris! I'm the present conductor of the UST CSGC. Thanks for your comments! I remember watching your concerts before. I love the UST Singers! Ate Jingbee is in the U.S. now & they've formed a UST Singers Alumni Choir. Are you part of that? Anyway thanks again!

  • I love the song so much!

  • Bravo to the amazing soprano who did that , the amazing chorale, everything was stunning! The soprano stunned me at the end wow!

  • What an amazing performance from a world class chorale!!!! Amazing sopranos!!!! Awesome

  • What an amazing chorale performance! Simply world class

  • holy shit...

  • 3rd "F" from Middle C

  • WOW what note does that girl hit!!

  • Astig yung split ng descant `no?! ^_^

  • great performance UST CSGC!

miss ko rin ang annual UST Intercollegiate Songfest.

  • Superb! Nice diction! Great tone! Great obligato! Nice costume! Really round vowels! Great going guys! CSGC rules!

  • Grabe! I miss being with the UST CSGC! -tsuBen-
