Unfortunately, that was the closest "shelter" we found. Didn't realize we were in a tornado warning until the moment that siren went off. We were not in the city when the first set of sirens went off 20 minutes prior. We did the best we could given the situation.
we heard it was unsafe to be in a car so we stood outside. now where going to flash our lights at an ambulance even though were not hurt and dont need emergency service.........yes, missouri women are that smart.
I've never seen a tornado, and the sound of the sirens send chills through my body. I cannot imagine hearing that and staring down a mile wide tornado.
Wow. So your friend was in the red car? And then later her house/car port was obliterated? Well... Dang. While it's dangerous to be in a car it's even worse to be outside, you should've went into the building, and if you couldn't make it in you should go in a ditch, but sitting next to the building outside is a terrible idea. Tons of debris could hit you, and you could be carried away, especially with a powerful storm like this one was.
@mrconradhoppe Get out of here with that fake garbage please and while you're at it take some scientific courses and higher your 1st-level education...
We did ride it out crouched down next to the building. All of the experts say it is actually safer to get out of the car and in the end we were safe. The carport where my friend was parked under moments before she moved to me was obliterated during the tornado. Lots of "what ifs" but I really don't want to think about those since we're all fine.
@Scruffins07 Didn't you see the power flashes (lightning in the form of brief blimp shaped flashes)?!?!! It was right after you said I'm kind of scared, I would of pooped!!!!!
