my rating for bioshock (and i am a little late to the party) is a 10. any hitches with the game are completely minor to me, and i may be completely insane for liking the game this much. but i'm a big fan of movies, and that's what this game was to me, an interactive movie. so in particular i enjoyed the story, the voice acting, and all the well developed characters. the gameplay took a back seat for me. now would you kindly agree with my opinion...
i don't regret buying it at all. i bought it with the expectation of an amazing immersive world, and an amazing immersive story to back it up. i got both and then some, so i don't know what you went into the game expecting, but my personal opinion is this game deserves every bit of praise it has gotten.
I think the endings could have been done better as well, but they did their job. Amazing game, but over hyped. Systemshock 2 was a bit better, but Bioshock does a good job succesing it for sure. 9 is what I say because I didn't have any qualms with the plasmids, I just saw them as a chance to play the game differently my next run through.
i agree on most of the aspects except the overall rateing, the ending, and the use of plasmids i think it made the game unique and original and i was beging for something fresh and the ending could not have ben any different the plasmids did not fit but they were realy fun to use so my overall rateing is 9.5
fantastic game, really good review, i agree with you on most counts (i played PC version). i did notice some elements borrowed from other games as you mentioned in the comments, but nevertheless i feel this is an important if slightly overhyped milestone towards the future of FPS gaming. and needless to say, this is the best looking game out as of yet.
nice review. i would agree its a high 8. lots of great stuff in the game, but its almost tragic that its so close to being one of best ever, and theres just a few things that screw it up; like too many hacking puzzles, too many upgrades, weak bosses, terrible endings, and lots of little glitches. ive not had the game freeze, but ive had times where the analog stick would suddenly stop working and many times when the guns/plasmids would fire themselves.
Your review was fine except you were wrong about one thing. YOu said you didn't like the trap bolts. For the record, the crossbow is the best weapon type and all of its ammo is useful.

Who says a game can't be perfect? It's all a matter of how you look at things. I could sit down and play this game and think it's perfect, while another person may not think that way. It's all a matter of opnion.

In my opinion a game shouldnt ever get a ten because of the fact that it can always be improved. So as a gamer (and im guessing you are) never though "this game is a 10 but it could have this in it" ?
when game is as original and fun as this game is with the flaws it has it should get no less than 10 if we dont have originality and fun what do we have

I could sit here and list a ton of other games that do what this game does in other areas. Its a good game and no game should ever get a ten because all games can be improved upon.

i can understand y u should rent it cause of no multiplayer but it does take a while to beat, id still say buy it and its not overrated

nah nah halo 3 was wayyyyy too short. i didnt even get to try out all the vehicles and weapons by the end of the game.
