@rachm1991 This being visually impaired. haha dude I guess you've already found it but a video showing you what blind people see what be a black screen haha
@supah1337B Haha, yup I did, but thank you for answering still y'know! :)
With the help of this video and others I've been able to find (using the word simulator), I got 63/100 for the University presentation, woo! [a mark 40 or above is a pass] :D
@supah1337B ya it would be a black screen cuase i know cuase im visulyinpaired. I dont like you postig videos of vistoliyinpaired becuase gusse what.its not what it looks like! You oculd not see half the vistion as a reguler person could.it wount look like this if your in my eyes!but it sure will if i kick you in the nuts and nook you out!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thanks for makeing the poin that you a wrong person to be crisysing someone!
Interesting video and responses especially from someone who has RP. Please check out InsidersHealthTV channel for IHTV-60 on a new implant that supposedly works - still experimental I believe.
MOST VISUAL IMPAREMENTS ARE DISORDERS A BYPRODUCT OF MUTANT GENES , A DISABILITY IS A STATE OF MIND USUALY PUT UPON A PERSON BY OTHER PEOPLE , TREAT VISUALY IMPARED PEOPLE AS EQUALS AND INVOLVE THEM IN NORMAL HOBBIES AND INTERESTS YES YOU MIGHT HAVE TO GIVE A LITTLE ASSISTANCE FROM TIME TO TIME BUT IF YOU DON"T INVOLVE VISUALY IMPARED PEOPLE BECAUSE OF THEIR VISION THEN YOUR THE DISABILITY NOT THEM ...
Really its not like tunnel vision if you have it. If you could somehow take out the 'black' surrounding section and could somehow make a visual that would infer that your brain no longer interprets that data, somehow doesn't know how to display it, so therefor doesn't, then you'd have it down cold. If you have the disability you just simply don't see anything in the black zone.
@chadc0613 totally! I don't see blackness surrounding the "tunnel" actually a bright pulsating veil. The brain simply fills in the affected area by producing it's own imagery in the form of "gibberish" if you will. Thank you for pointing that out by the way. This video is kind of limited in it's ability to properly depict what we see looking out of our own eyeballs.
@rudyiking Der ter Der means something along the lines of DUH! It looks like rudyiking is a jerk/dumbass who has to pick on Half-blind kids for his own sanity.
P.S. If I can help with anything, I'll be happy too. I'm a genius. How many of you guys out here are half-blind and a genius(I really want to know.)
@mugenfan5 I'm sorry, but PLEASE tell me where I was "picking" on anyone?
Also IF you would have taken the time to read my other posts, you would have read that I am legally blind my self.
20/200 corrected. I merely stated that it looks like Tunnel Vision, however the title said "What's it's like to be visually impaired." This can be misleading to the average Joe.
Oh, and what Sanity are you talking about. I have none!
The only thing this video lacks is that it can't show the frustration we feel when you open a drawer of multiple objects and try to find the "ONE THING WE NEED"....
Just wanted to point out that visual impairment is not a disease, it's a disability. Two very different things. Amazing video, btw. Watching this made me extremely anxious. I used to work at the Bodies exhibit, which was side-by-side to the Dialog in the Dark exhibit. I really appreciate this small insight into my co-workers' world! Some of their behaviors begin to make a little more sense.
this is great however would have been more visually impressive is the sighted version was shown in a small box in the corner so the comparison of the journey could be fully realised.
close but with r,p i also have strobeing light sensation and floaters , and r,p people cant see shadow areas so only see illuminated faces , most people look like the phantom of the opera masks to me , r,p also takes all night vision , in the u,k the care structure for blind people sucks , we"re the most discriminated disability in the u,k ..
Hi, I am legally blind. I have Lebers, in which my vision is very distorted, like a very, very foggy day, and I can only see shapes, and everything is basically white and gray. Anyway, one frustrating thing about being legally blind is when local grocery stores or other major places put up these kiosks, and they are touch-screen operated only.
Hey cutseypoo although i cannot relate just yet...my eye doctor has said i have some kind retinal disease that is destroying my retina as i grow older.
In other words i will see less and less.
Eventually losing color perseption etc.
I hold on to the fact that they are very close to curing blindness many tests with stem cells show that blindness can be cured.
Hmmm... Sounds like you may be developing rhetinitis pigmentosis. Does that ring a bell? Well anyway, my eye doctor also told me about stem cell research and blindness, & one day, I may be eligible for a stem cell transplant. Right now, it's too early to tell. Anyway, if you have any questions about blindness, & how I cope with it, I'll be glad to answer them for you. Anyway, try to keep your head up & be strong.
Good job of giving an idea of tunnel vision. I too, have Retinitis Pigmentosa. To recreate the true visual reality is difficult as there is no blackness surrounding the little island of vision, but a nothingness, and also, much of the time in dimmer light, nothing to see at all. keep up the good work!
WOW,I feel very fortinate to have 20 20 vision,I'm very sorry for those of you with this kind of vision problems,it must be very hard.Hats off to you guys......
I also have retinitis pigmentosa and also macula degeneration. I am also training to become a rehabilitation officer for the visually impaired and thought this video was fantastic and gave a real view into a visually impaired persons life.
Would a person with vision like this be considered legally blind?

This is so helpful. I'm using this for a presentation on Visual Impairments, and I hope you don't mind. :)
Now I gotta try and find other similar videos to this, except for color blindness and cataracts.
