  • tbh, i wish some people, especially those in a certain position that shall remain nameless had this mindset rather then using those powers this whole war were for would start attacking those who they KNOW alot will not return the attacks out of dignity, respect, and they slowly use that to bend to thier will, as they are... somehow innately better :/

  • @AigisFan Wow! I'm certainly happy that I'm not smoking what you are smoking! Although I recognize each word you typed, you managed to put them together in a totally insensible fashion. Are you practicing to be a politician? If so, you are well on your way.

  • i can take neither side by rights. as i served both. served at the heart of the rebellion, then turned union by succedding into a union state.

  • Herroh!

  • @bnewmanish

You said, "Each of the confederate states wished to succeed from the union". True to a certain point. They did want to "succeed" in their efforts, but once they lost the slave labor, they failed. But what I think you meant to say is "secede from the nation", which means to withdraw from it. My apologies, not trying to make this a spelling lesson, just wished to clarify things.

  • Where is the Love Button on this song? <3

  • Y'all yankees are jealous ... we would've had more men we would've kicked y'alls sorry behinds.

  • its: I SAW GENRAL LEE THERES A SABER IN HIS HAND....not: I aaw you in the lead theres a sabre in his hand

  • you know what i hate???? all the people that are bringing poltics comments to this vid!!! JUST LISTEN TO THE DAMN SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! seriously johnny must be rolling over in his grave at all this shit.

  • first terrorrists were the settlers who stole land from native americans - let's call a spade a spade

  • @bennysgurl6995 lol there we go some one i agree with

  • johnny horton not a dick

  • No matter your stance on the Civil War, i think we can all agree that Horton was a great singer and storyteller.

  • Some of these comments make southerners look like idiots. Each of the confederate states wished to succeed from the union, which they were entitled to do. We as a nation left british control during the Revolutionary War. That was their right as colonies governed by the crown. The south lost the civil war, and Abraham Lincoln united America as one nation. Overall, I think America turned out great! Oh, and I'm born and raised a proud southerner, would'nt change it for the world.

  • @bnewmanish People are always trying to make southerners looks like idiots. and aggreed

  • I need to rewrite my post, now here it is where it can be understood,My State of TEXAS was once the Republic of Texas ,our own nation.well when Texas became a state in 1845.Texas put the right to seced in our state constitution.that was violated in 1861 and especially in 1865 to the present day, secession is a right of all free ppl,it is our right throw any union anytime we want too,if we dont have that right,we have no rights ,which we havent since 1865.the true death of our forefathers govt

  • I humbly disagree with Ryuu501,about once a state agrees to uphold the constitution ,that its bound to the union, My state of Texas ,was once a Nation of its own,The republic of Texas. as a condition of statehood, Texas put the right to secede ,that in essence was contract, which was violated when Texas along with other southern states was forced back in the union,we have been living with violation for 150 years.besides that Read our forefathers views on seceding ,you might be surprised

  • Johnny Horton stuff is brilliant.

  • DAMN LEAST GET THE DAMN LYRICS RIGHT!!!!!!!

EVEN THOUGH YOU LOST THE SWEET HEART OF YOUR NAME?????????? COME ON!!!!11 ITS THEY SPEAK HIGHLY OF YOUR NAME!!!!!!!!!!

    CSA FOR LIFE

  • Love Johnny Horton!!! The line is "even though you lost they speak highly of your name".

  • "History is written by the victors." -Winston Churchill

  • if you're gonna put the lyrics, at least put the right ones ( even though you lost they speak highly of your name) not sweet heart of your name

  • Does anyone know if there is a video of Horton singing to the last surviving Conf soldier. I have seen a photo of him singing Johnny Reb to him in his bed in the 50's and wondered if anyone filmed it . IF not what a waste . Nice for the vets to see we knew they were right and support them regardless of lies .

  • Love this song.

And all that it stands for.

  • People seem to misunderstand the point of this song. It's not to celebrate the confederacy but to respect the confenderate troops who fought hard as long as they could under horrible conditions.

I'm a northerner and a Yankee all the way. I believe the South was wrong in both slavery and secession and clearly deserved to lose. But I still like this song and can respect concept of paying tribute to troops who did indeed "fight all the way", even though their cause was wrong.

  • And when the south broke from the north Abraham Lincoln didnt want to loose the southern land.

  • The Civil war started over the north tryin' to tell the south how to live. It was not about slavery or race brush up on you history.

  • @17Jesterman

The north trying to tell the south to NOT OWN SLAVES

At the time new states were being split into free states and slave states, the war was inevitable.

You cannot have a society where in half of it everyone is free, at least to some extent; and in the other half people own other people. You are destined to fight over this idea. THE CIVIL WAR WAS ABOUT SLAVERY!

  • Read the damn history books. The north tried to make slavery illegal IN THE SOUTH ONLY! They did this to try to use strongarm tactics to make the south tow the line. Later they were forced to make slavery illegal in the north as well when they realized that they had ready made cannon fodder in the blacks who would fight for freedom. I reitterate: read the damn history books.

  • america just sucks -_- :|

  • The civil war was about slavery, anyone who says it wasnt doesnt understand their american history.

This is not saying that the young men who fought and died for the confederacy fought and died for slavery in their own hearts, they died to protect their homeland.

But the powers behind the war knew they needed slavery for the southern economy, and the economy is all that matters, even today.

  • @fiveoclockpunk slavery wasnt even thought about until half way through the war. it was a political move to make the north look morally superior. the emancipation proclamation did nothing, the united states president had no authority over the confederate states of america (they had thier own president). Again, it was just a political move to gather sympathizers.

  • @TehManicMechanic 100% right, most people think that the Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves, that is totally wrong...it did nothing.

  • @ovdoballer87 Actually it established slavery in the border states . The problem is asking the common man to think . He wants everything explained to him which the winner is always happy to do .

  • You are 100% right, most people think (wrongly might I add) that the Emancipation Proclamation freed the slaves when in fact it did nothing at all.

  • At 0:34 think the lyrics say "Even tough you lost they, Speak highly of your name"

  • I said its a good time for the south to rise again if u ask me

  • it is " even though you lost we speak highly of your name"

  • @budzilla1987 you do realize the North Carolina, South Carolina, Virginia and Georgia part of the revolutionaries right? and if I'm not mistaken they were part of the Confederacy

  • the south wont rise again.

  • @williamlbarberjr excuses. south lost the war. doesnt matter the reasons.

  • @SKSowner1 it just may.. never say never... and there are no excuses... just facts... big difference.. esp. as it applies to war..

  • @SKSowner1 booooo

  • @williamlbarberjr my great great granpaw fought under stone wall jackson

  • Holy heck, if you are going to post the lyrics, please get them right. It is NOT "sweetheart of your name". It is "Even though you lost they speak highly of your name". And it's not "I saw you in the lead" it is "I saw General Lee with a sabre in his hand."

  • @dwtaylor666 I saw the mistakes too.

  • @dwtaylor666

yeah, I notice that too. Its not that hard to figure out these lyrics.

  • @dwtaylor666 To myself. When correcting someone's mistaken lyrics, make sure that you type the right words. It's actually "I saw General Lee RAISE a sabre, etc., not "with a sabre in his hand." Humble pie gladly eaten.

  • Comment removed

  • funny, everyones bitchin about us union bastards but yet u wouldnt have half of ur freedoms if it wasnt for us. we were here first and WE chased out those british bastards b4 the south was even formed..... if ya ask me u should be thanking us "yankees" that ur not still under british rule and that ur not making urself look like an ass beating slaves....

  • I have two ancestors that fought for the Union, and one or two that fought for the Confederacy and am proud of the courage they all showed.

  • Feelings run deep when it comes to this subject. Don't refight that terrible war where so many brothers lost their lives. The South fought for it freedom, something we have too little of today in this country. The North fought to keep the Union united. Why, oh why, they could not sit at a table and negotiate it, I will never know. Too much blood shed, on both sides!

  • @DianeAtch

The south fought for the freedom of the white man to rule over the negro

  • @fiveoclockpunk Yet the first man in the US to own another man was...guess what, a black man, not a white man. Hmm, history is different when you start digging into it.

  • @DianeAtch

Let us suppose your claim is true, this says nothing about the morality of the slave system at all. Slavery is immoral, whether it is the egyptians, romans, greeks, or the united states.

(there were many white slaves in the history of humanity, this is not about race)

  • A small clarification to the lyrics you have posted. At 1:14 you have 'I saw you in the lead you had a saber in your hand', the lyrics are actually 'I saw General Lee raise a saber in his hand'. :) <3

  • Another lyrics error is: "I saw you in the lead with a saber in his hands", it is supposed to be "I saw General Lee raise a saber in his hand"

  • @Ryuu501st why would you fight for the yankee nation blasphemy in this here past war of northern aggression yankees were the FIRST terrorist in america we of the south fought with honor for freedom while yall were butchers

  • @resistandoppose Actually, the first terrorist's in America were the American forces during the Revolutionary War. And I'd fight for the Union because I believe in the Union, and I believe that once a state agrees to uphold the constitution and the government, said state is bound to the country.

  • @Ryuu501st hey moron the states created the country hahaha and the federal government

  • @Ryuu501st Back then your loyalty was first to your state then to your country. the southern states were following their constitutional right to secede.

  • @TehManicMechanic

There was no constitutional right to secede, and there certainly was no right to force millions of slaves to secede with them whether they wanted too or not.

Secession was an attempt to win with violence what they lost in a peaceful election. Though I like this song and agree confederate soldiers can be respected for "fighting all the way", the fact remains that the confederacy deserved to lose.

  • @TheStapleGunKid Regardless of con rights or not sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do . Sure it was against all kinds of agreements to leave British control . If not there would of been no fear of ''hanging seperately '' The slaves are not an issue . They were blessed to be slaves and to be here. The election was not peaceful . Boy you need to do some reading and writing and rethmetic . The South deserved to win but the Lord had other reasons for the war so that it how it had to end .

  • @TheStapleGunKid Sure there are some NVA saying the same thing .

  • @Ryuu501st A state is made up of people it can't make agreements . The same argument could be made for staying part of the British Empire. And regardless if someone decides to leave killing them to get them to come back is counter productive for both sides as we found out .

  • @Ryuu501st The states had the right to leave the Union, just like our constitution said.

If it were not for the American colony's fighting against the tyrannical Brits, we would have never had the great United States.

But our own Union became like the Brits, and the Union put an end to states rights for good.

Everything went down hill after the War of Northern Aggression, it was no longer about freedom, or truth or even what was right.

    But only for the Union.

  • @Ryuu501st Then what do you say about going to war with King George III? We were bound to England too. hahaha

  • @Ryuu501st That would mean the colonies were bound to Britian. Sorry, but that's a stupid reason. lol

  • @Ryuu501st So you fight for a Union that went against their own constitution during the civil war? So you believe in fighting for people that break the constitution... damn yankees

  • @resistandoppose

The south lost, get over it.

  • @jhawkrugby HALLELUJAH Ladies and Gentlemen,,,,,,,,,,, Wisdom

  • @resistandoppose if thats what you believe then your a fing dumb azzass!

  • @resistandoppose hell yea

  • @resistandoppose Check your history dickhead....

  • @resistandoppose Fought for freedom in the south ay? Freedom of ALL people? Another blight on American history, called slavery

  • @guitargold77 Hey Yankee boy, the whole war wasn't about stupid slavery, it was bout the yankees taxin the south, read up on ya history boy. :)

  • @1861RebelBoy To buy into taxes and states rights is to be sold a Yugo with a Lexus title. For 200 years humans were owned, rhetoric and spin involving anything other than slavery is a diservice to what it still means, it means money over lives. You can be a card carrying member of the KKK and still u have to hate what they did since it means money is it. big bizness will frac your well water, sell u a deadly pill. let asbetos into the air, ruin the environment, until stopped

  • @guitargold77 Hey partner i don't agree AT all with slavery ... i'm just saying.

  • The lyrics are "even though you lost, they speak highly of your name". Not lost the sweet heart of your name. xD

  • @AshtaraSilunar

Yeah. Very surprised that, even though it is slow and easy to listen to, that someone cannot be bothered to write the right words to the song.

  • How come the great artists are so often the ones to die so early? :(

  • I fight for the union. I'm a member of a Federal Artillery Battery. I don't like them southerners for seceding. But, I don't hate them. They are American after all. I have friends on both sides. I'm sure this whole conflict will be over soon and both sides will be back to being friends again! (speaking in my 1st person 1861 impression because im a civil war reenactor who fights for the union)

  • So many people dont understand this is to be from the eyes of a union man

  • @williamlbarberjr It matter's not how many battle's Lee won in the Eastern Theater, as he lost when it counted most (Gettysburg) and in the West, and Southern Theater's the Union had a clear advantage.

  • stupid yankee.

  • The lyrics are "Even though you lost WE'LL SPEAK HIGHLY OF YOUR NAME" "I SAW GENERAL LEE PLACE A SABER IN HIS HAND" "but he asked the band to play the song Dixie, for you Johnny Reb, AND ALL THE JUBILEE". Other than that everything is fine.

  • @Describingthelost

Actually, you're darn close, but it's "I saw General Lee raise the saber in his hand", and "Even though you lost they'll speak highly of your name"

  • @heretilimnot Its "place a saber in his hand." Robert E. Lee surrendered his Saber to U.S. Grant in the last battle of the Civil War. Which is why Horton mentioned, "Heard the cannons roar as you made your last stand." And I meant "they'll" i just confused myself because they, from their point of view, is we from ours. but thanks for the feedback! :)

  • @Describingthelost I will have to respectfully disagree. You are correct about Lee handing his saber over to Grant, but he is singing in this song about Lee raising the saber in his hand for "their last stand", not the actual surrender to Grant. If you have any access to some high quality studio equipment you can clearly hear him sing "raise the saber". Regardless of the small details in this song, it is another great song by Horton, who knew how to conect with regular folks :-)

  • Here's the facts ! We in Blue won,get over it!

  • The lyrics in this video are horribly wrong. You have done a disservice to Mr. Horton.

  • im a proud rebel thats goin into the marines een tho im 15 i have the stars and bars on my wall and proud fer it bein there robert e lee is one of my heros let the stars and bars rise and the south will rise again[><]

  • im proud to be a rebel

  • I'm a proud Southerner. I don't care what you Yankees think of us.

  • Yes the lyrics are wrong at 1:14 to 1:17, It should be "I saw General Lee raise a saber in his hand".

  • You got some of the lyrics wrong

  • This is a song about the common man.The man who fought for what he thought was right. Not about the elite who owned slaves. The ones who invented the Rebel Yell. And was whipping a vastly superior army for 3 years.

If you just have hate in your heart....and cannot see past what people tell you( all southerners did not own slaves, people)....then you are a sad sad person.

  • if ur a union fighter WHY MAKE THE FREAKIN VID?

  • @Pg7901 Maybe because it's a good song?

  • @Pg7901 Because there's a beautiful thing called honor. They fought for a noble cause, they fought hard, and they gave it 100%. The song isn't about being a rebel, its saying, you did your best. I'm not sure if you understand it, but the South would've won if they had more money and resources. They won most of the battles in the Civil War and the only reason they lost is because the Union had more money, and people. The two vital keys to winning a war.

  • i may be canadian but i love the southern states

  • They fought all the way, like all the wars before and all the wars since. We the peasants, the cannon fodder, when are we ever going to wake up. they keep us dumb and we keep them in power and like lambs to the slaughter we get the medals for bravery. NOT ME, THEY CAN STICK THERE MEDALS RIGHT UP THERE ASSES.

  • Great

    one!!

  • i wish the confederate would have one i didnt agree with slavery but i agree our nation is far worse with all these minorities and their rights.....

  • Great sound quality but you kinda spell couldn't wrong

  • You kinda fucked the lyrics up, but nice sound quality. Oops. Sorry. I cussed, didn't I?

  • like history of the Confederates.i am a good old rebel!!now play dixie for me to!!

  • Víte jaka je nej valka? Americka občanská umiraj totiž jenom amici

  • 2 people are yankee bastards

  • @aj1986917 Excuse me, but I fight for the Union, with respect for the Confederacy. Do not cuss on my videos, and show respect to all sides who fought and died in war.

  • @Ryuu501st dude, i was born in Boston. I had family on both sides. it was meant as more of a joke than a serious comment. calm down

  • @Ryuu501st FUCK U YANKEE. umad bro?

  • @ConfederatePride1861 I'm a Union fighter, with respect to the Confederacy. No cussing on my vids.

  • @Ryuu501st how can u be confederate pride if u was a Yankee?!?!?!?!?! yeah u got respect but dude ur tag dnt fit at yall.....cant ya change it to something closer to the truth??????

  • @Ryuu501st Dude, you did NOT fight for the Union. Pretty sure you're not 160 years old.

  • @BishopHatto No frigging duh you moron, did you need a College Degree to figure that one out? I'm fairly sure it's obvious that my point is that I support the Union, you have heard of symbolic language right?

  • @Ryuu501st Well your use of "symbolic language," whatever the fuck THAT is, really sucks! You're the one that sounds like a moron. "Duh I fought for da Union." Retard.

  • @aj1986917 yea ur right we should have won

  • @aj1986917 yea i agree 2 ppl are yankee bastards

rebel forever the south will rise again!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @aj1986917 Im a die hard rebal but the mat says welcome

  • @aj1986917 hell make that 3 of em

  • Unfortunately Ryuu501st is not the best at citing lyrics. As in their post of "The battle of New Orleans" some mistakes were made. In this song at 1:14 it should be, "I saw General Lee raise a saber in his hand", not "I saw ya in the lead, theres a saber in his hand". Just saying. But very good song by one of the greatest

  • @ohp540

and I also hear different lyrics in the section you fought for your folks, but you did not die in vain. I think that correct text is: you fought for your folks but you did not die in vain, even though you lost they speak highly of your name.

  • Is English your second language? No offense but these lyrics are all messed up.

  • Respect it, listen to it, understand it, love it. I'm Native and I imbraced it.

  • Imagine how much courage and strength it took to stand for what you believed.

  • If you do a song with lyrics, get them rite, come on, its bs, if you dont know, dont try to act like you do.

  • i realy Johnny Horton's songs

  • this song is from the 50s or 60 so this obviously isnt a civil war song. its about it but not from it

  • That's okay folks...lol... STAND BY FOR "PART 2", LMAOFFFF.

  • Comment removed

  • (cont...) Gah, first 0:30 messed up , now 1:13 too. Get the lyrics RIGHT!

The song says, "I saw General Lee raise a saber in his hand," NOT I saw ya in the lead.

  • At 0:30 it should say, "even though you lost, they speak highly of your name," NOT sweet heart of your name. Gah, I hate it when people make a video only to completely mess up the lyrics!!

  • Johnny Yuma was a Rebel

  • A classic song of the civil war

  • im sorry it was my fault

  • Of course, now that the SEC is mostly too afraid to even schedule Boise State (Georgia being the only brave one), the lyrics should be changed to reflect they "hid and shook under their desks all the way." For Gawd's sake, man up. This is embarrassing.

  • The lyrics are wrong, it is "even though you lost they speak highly of your name" Not "even though you lost the sweet heart of your name"

  • I need to write a little about these lyrics that are totally wrong. I'll simply write the correct lyrics instead. :-) held your head a high (creative allowance when it was written) Even thought you lost they speak highly of your name! Cause you fought all the way Johnny Reb Johnny Reb, You fought all the way Johnny Reb.

  • I did thesis paper on the Civil War and Ryuu501st has the facts straight. and on this song i hate to point it out but the lyrics are wrong on some slides. just saying

  • It wasn't the Civil War......it was The War of Northern Aggression, never mind that Ft. Sumpter was fired upon first.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 I'm sorry to say, but it was the Civil War. Both the North and the South were being stubborn, and both had ideas that simply would not work in cohesion with the other. Both sides are to blame equally. But remember who fired the first shot...

  • @Ryuu501st it was the norths fault dont try to tell me otherewise

  • @MrElftastic It was BOTH the fault of BOTH the North AND the South. Years of compromises simply shielded the fact that neither side was willing to deal with the problems that were slowly ripping the nation apart, and this therefore lead to the ignorance of BOTH the North AND the South erupting into a Civil War.

  • @MrElftastic

the north did not have a 'peculiar institution!"

  • @Ryuu501st A "Civil War" is unrest within one country, but this was a war between two separate countries, as the south had seceded (which the Constitution gave the right to do).

So, no it was not a "civil war." If any war we've been in could be called a "civil war," it would be the Revolutionary War, and if we had lost, it may have very well been called one.

  • @ClassicCartoonsGuy This war was brought about by years of CIVIL unrest in the United States (which I'm fairly certain is one nation) before the Mexican-American War. When the Constitution was being adopted, ALL of the states accepted it, meaning that ALL of the states AGREED to be governed by the laws of the UNITED STATES. This agreement thus meant that no, separate states DID NOT, in fact, have the right to go back on their vows. It was one nation, part of it thinking they could leave.

  • @Ryuu501st You have a very small understanding of the Constitution and the history of the United States. The States created the Federal Government, not the other way around, and the Federal Government was only given VERY LIMITED powers. The rights, according to the Constitution, are vested in the STATES. Just read the Bill of Rights, specifically, the 10th Amendment, which shows that "implied powers" of the federal government are unconstitutional.

  • @Ryuu501st but the constitution states that if a state want to leave it can so the whole war was unconstitutional

  • @Ryuu501st

They could leave and they did. And then they got taken back. Don't think that a centuries old piece of paper (or any piece of paper) defines what rights someone has. Might makes right, always has, always will.

  • @Ryuu501st

' The future inhabitants of [both] the Atlantic and Mississippi states will be our sons. We think we see their happiness in their union, and we wish it. Events may prove otherwise; and if they see their interest in separating why should we take sides? God bless them both, and keep them in union if it be for their good, but separate them if it be better.' – Thomas Jefferson

  • @Ryuu501st Actually, it is the united States of America, a union of INDEPENDANT states/nations. the POV u r proceeding from is erronious. Each state had to ratify, or agree with, the Constitution in order to join this union, but it was made very clear, that ceding their authority to a central or national gov. they still retained the right to recover their authority over themselves anytime they wished. By a vote of the people or their representatives in the state legislatures they had the right

  • @Ryuu501st to leave the union at any time. Again, you need to re read the Constitution, pay particular attention to the 10th Amendment. NO agreement is irrevocable, especially when one party directly and intentionally violates that agreement and the rights of another party. The north violated the rights of the south and there is no way around that fact. Even now, each and every state has the right to leave the union if they wish to do so. As a Texan I have one thing to say, SECEDE NOW!!!!

  • @blakops1 Each state, upon becoming a state, agreed to rule under the constitution. Since they AGREED to rule under the constitution, they do not have the right to simply leave. Also, we have been through one Civil War, over 600,000 Americans DEAD, and you want to secede and have another American Civil War? Not only are you wrong in our argument, but you are dead wrong in thinking that any section of this nation will secede again, or that it is wise to do so.

  • @Ryuu501st Any agreement may be altered or cancelled at the desire or descretion of any party to the agreement. Following the logic you just laid out, the uSA is a rogue nation and has been since 1776, as the COLONIES had no right to SECEDE from the British Empire.....Re read the Declaration of Independance and the entire constitution again. "Federal" Government power is VERY limited to ONLY what the Constitution Lists. All other powers are given to the States, or the People.

  • @Ryuu501st Now, I DO NOT want another War between the States, but I will fight for my inalienable rights against any and all who threaten them, whether in the courts or elsewhere. The Founding fathers believed we had the right to alter or even abolish an abusive government, sounds to me like support for the idea of secession, as that would abolish the government. Abe Lincoln was wrong, and the "CIVIL" war was about states rights, not slavery. Slavery is wrong and evil, but it wasnt the real caus

  • @Ryuu501st

It was not a civil war.

By definition a civil war is a war between two factions vying for power over the government.

The War for Southern Independence was not so.

It was what the name suggests:

That is, a war for Southern independence.

  • @SpeedyNeutrino43 You must listen to Mike Church, and I agree with you. Northern aggression.

  • LINCOLN: HE ASKED THE BAND TO PLAY THE SONG DIXIE

    GOD: ENTER THE KINGDOM JOHNNY

    US: AMEN

  • IT IS ABSOLUTELY IMPOSSIBLE FOR A HUMAN BEING TO SING THIS GOOD

  • Crap... I feel like an idiot. I loved Johnny Horton as a kid, then hated him during my highschool/college years. Now, just on a random chance I decided to look him up again, I see the err of my past. He's one of the most patriotic musicians we've ever had. He has a bias for the South, of course, but a complete sense of respect for the North.

  • @Jisawbam High School was where I found out about him and bought some CDs. I'm 21 years old and now a Sophomore in college and I love his music... And, he sang during the 50s. Time is what determines how good a singer or band is, and he has definitely stood the test of time. :)

  • @ClassicCartoonsGuy ididnt mean to give you a thumbs down sorry :)

  • @Jisawbam cont... on a side note, I don't think Johnny Horton was bias against either the South or the North, as he has this song about the South, but he also sang, "Battle of Bull Run," which is about the North.

  • my stepdads band did a cover of this, /watch?v=QF9qtJS-hpA

  • you fought well, johnny reb. you're a maryter now

  • fuk u
