  • Old trilogy: Best

Prequels: First was bad, second not that good, third was good enough

    Clone Wars: Shit

The Old Republic and Force Unleashed: As good as the original.

  • awesome!

  • He achieved better quality with a $10 mill movie than with a $100 mill one...

  • Why didn''t George stick to his original plan to make nine episodes???

  • @homemixer that wasn't his original plan, he made that up later

  • @Alistarwormwood Is that so?

  • Lot's of old people don't like the new trilogy, but personally I thought it was better than the old one. But maybe that's cuz i didn't live during the 70's and 80's lol..

  • @DrMeh3 trolioliolio

  • @DrMeh3 I personally love the premise for the prequel trilogy, it's what's expanded SW into how we know it today. It organized that universe. The problem with them is that the characters aren't as engaging, you don't feel for them like you do with the OT.

Prequel Trilogy, amazing premise that touches upon real social issues, but it was executed poorly.

Original Trilogy, engaging characters, but way to simple. Many praise the OT for it's fantasy element..I dont care much for that..

  • @KameinuFK Oh ok I see your point and semi-agree with you haha.

One of the main reasons I love the prequel trilogy is because it put all the pieces together All my questions were answered by watching Episodes I,II, and III.

And personally I thought most of the characters were pretty engaging and acted well. Maybe not as much so as the OT, but whatever.

  • do a kotor film using the cg from the old republic online game the intro for that is sum dam good shit

  • I know what im going to say may sound like the worst idea in the history of ideas but, Lucasfilm should make movies about KOTOR or Republic Commando er something like that. And I know all of you are like, "no that would suck ass", but I think it would be a good idea and very entertaining.

  • with the stormtropper in the background, he might as well be Darth Vader...

  • Why is George talking in such a shy way about his best masterpiece that changed the way of making movies forever? c´mon George, USE THE FORCE!

  • "Let's watch the movie."

As he walks away, he says to the troopers, "Let's see if we can sneak out the back before we need to watch this damn thing again."

  • Wish he'd taken his own advice about making bad movies like these last 3 Star Wars films... Still so hard to watch all the way through. Menace and Clones should've been 1 film and all the boring political nonsense stripped down. Worst of all he has a chance in Sith to being back Darth Vader, and he gets so little screen time???? Sorry, even worse was Hayden's mug at the end

Of ROTJ. Why??? Where is Ewan MacGregord face??? He totally blew it with effects and messed around way too much wit

  • To the username:

Userstupidman, this is the Dark Lord of the galaxy himself Darth Vader I find your lack of faith desturbing, you have insalted my creator & master George Lucas don't be so proud of this tecknecle terror you've constructed the ability to destroy a planet is insignificant next to the power of the force.

Btw it's nice to know that you love my master & creator George Lucas, May The Force Be With You, Always.

  • I loved george, today however his movies are very bad unfortunately.

  • boring as hell sci fi movies XD it made me laugh

  • Just in case you were all wondering, George Lucas did not direct Episode V or Episode VI.

  • @MikeDrumsIt We know that...

  • If he did what he intended to do, it would have been Flash Gordan. Han Solo would have been a Green Frog, C3PO would have had the voice of a used car salesman and Luke "Skykiller" and the rest of the cast would have been a dwarfs! It was a total fluke Star Wars was a hit, thats why all the prequals were jumped-up firework displays of toy adverts!

  • Where the hell did he get the sand crawler from? I wanna know!

  • Last **GOOD** movies from him: Original Star Wars, THX-1138 and American Graffiti.... That's a good record. For your information, V and VI weren't directed by him.

  • George lucas is awesome man, the crazy movies he made for its time, made peoples minds wander of the future ,

  • Lucas had a ginormous story he wanted to tell back then, but he was limited by the technology of his time along with being dragged down by big shot businessmen. Now that he had the technology he needed and complete control over the projects, he made the films he wanted to make. So what if not everyone liked it? He liked it.

  • "And after that they made about 500 special effects movies, that were boring as hell"

XD That is why George Lucas is cool

  • I love hearing George talk about the making of StarWars. Could listen to it all day. This is reaaly cool.

  • I wonder if at that screening they showed they new version or the old version of Episode 4

  • Lucas lols @ 0:11

  • The original trilogy may have been stunning at the time and based on mythology, but none of those words can describe the prequel trilogy. How ironic of him to say it wasn't about special effects when quite frankly that alone saved the prequels from utter disaster. How money can change a man...

  • take your own advice george!

  • Mr. Lucas, You're the man

  • ah Lucas talks about the era that made him one of my hero's...then he ends with the era were he has no clue what he is doing. 500 bad special effects movies? atleast 3 are from you Georgy!

5:30 he knows how a good movie works, how a story sould be. sadly his ego blinds him to see that he did the same thing as the 'dumb 500 special effect movie' what the prequels are.

Lucas: one of my role models of a good storyteller and at the same time a warning how not to do it. an enigma this guy

  • I am a great fan of George Lucas, he made 6 awesome movies ( of course the original trylogy is better, but the prequels are awesome too). He is the best movie director and rotterist of all the time.

  • @Darthrotvic take a walk, fanboy.

  • @SmokiSounds WHAT?

  • if i was george lucas i would have 2 stormtroopers with me at all times wherever i go

  • hes always talking about the money

  • The STAR WARS Saga is magnificent, beyond imagination. It gives not only entertainment, but also a different view on our own world, and it's ideas.

  • His genius ran out when Jar Jar entered the scene for the first time

  • has any1 elsed noticed that when ever he gives a speech or interview theres always a stormtrooper behind him i mean what is Sith gonna try and kill him hahaha

  • George Lucas is awesome , check out my version of star wars movie

*** ending is not the same ***

  • I wonder if he heard the irony in what he was saying...

  • What would I give for that Stormtrooper costume behind George Lucas.. >_>

  • @10laughungtears lol i used 2 luv those guys when i was younger ;) woulda killed to have 1 as a kid

  • @xlr8up As will you be, one day - God willing.

  • @xlr8up that tends to happen with age...

  • I watched "A New Hope" like 5 times... so now im gonna watch it 5 more times :)

  • He is also a Hungarian and allied Mickey Hargitay, Mariska Hargitay's daughter, etc.. I loved these movies. Hungarian Gabor Cress well, Tony Courtis, etc..

  • The man is a legend, and he only directed six films. A freaking genius.

  • *Yawn* ... I am sick of all the George Lucas hate. It is HIS saga, he can do what he wants with it.

  • yeah George, it's not about special effects. If that were true Jar jar would have never existed nor shitty clone troopers with fucked up looking heads.

  • It's really sort of disturbing how George Lucas walks on to gives speeches flanked by Stormtroopers

  • The prequels are nothing more than a bunch of Disney figures running around. The man created Star Wars, the best filmes around... To bad along the way he seemed to have lost his mind. And now with the banning of David Prowse from conventions etc.

  • @KonChul I think there's more to the Dave Prowse thing than his revealing Vader dies at the end of Jedi...

  • @Litshttam So does alot of fans. Including me. Unless Hayden Christensen is your Darth Vader.

  • @KonChul Didn't Lucas and his wife divorce around the time Jedi was made...?

  • @Litshttam I think he jerk off too much to porn. He became too human.

  • @KonChul LMAO!

  • @Litshttam yep

  • george has the best fucking hair ever...

  • GOD........

  • Where is the movie??

  • No matter what people say about George Lucas, he is the guy who made Star Wars.

People can say he ruined the series by making the prequels, but nobody could have done it better than him. I mean this guy had to go up against the expectations of an audience from the 70's and the audience from 1999-2005.

    But still: Han shot frst

  • George Lucas has his head up his ass.

  • Love the fu%$in hair George! Strongest hairline in the biz!

  • It's so easy for people to be critics - to sit in front of your computer and type in a comment (like I'm doing now)...but to actually create something and put your heart and commitment and follow through.

I grew up with the original trilogy and do like them better than the prequels, and Empire was my favorite, but you can't take away what George Lucas has done. StarWars - A New Hope - if that is all that he created, is a lot more than most, if not all, of you who are bitching and whining.

  • @m1grandprix yes, as me and my friend have always said, everyone's a critic these days. It's human nature, come down on everything. Hell, I do it all the time with things like Titanic!! But come on, that deserves it, doesn't it? But as you say, he funded them himself and he has created something totally unique. I personally think Episode III is as good as Empire. Such a great story, of such an awful tragedy.

  • @m1grandprix Agreed. It's incredibly disrespectful for a bunch of morons on the internet, who havent a fucking clue to the amount of work involved with making a film, to complain and berate George Lucas. He's immortal as a god of filmmaking, a god of the imagination, a god of fantasy and sci-fi... These assholes are only spotty teenagers who'll never amount to anything because they spend their time complaining about Lucas, and adult losers who are basically just failed and bitter filmmakers.

  • @hcvang Now tell me: HOW MUCH work and effort went into making the prequel trilogy? The answer is:none. The only people who were trying to do something were Ewan McGregor, Ian McDiarmid, JEJ, Christopher Lee, Samuel L. Jackson. Those are very talented actors and if it weren't for them nobody would watch these films. Everyone else( and I think you know who I'm talking about) were sitting in their big chairs, drinking coffee, counting their money and bitching about everything.ORIGINAL SW FTW!!!

  • @tomaspeverell actually, ive seen the doc of the making of E3 (ROTS) and everyone was sweating through at least 90% of that film

  • Lucas is responsible for most of the entertainment out ther today....the ideas the inspirations all come form what he gave the youth of yesterday. Poeple just like to talk crap when things don't always fit their SELECTIVE JADED view point AND they just follow the band wagon they have no true opinions of their own. It is sad really...but that is why you are the consumer and Lucas is the creator

  • George Lucas is a pedophile.

  • @MrGravewalker whaaaaaaaaaaa ?

  • George, I love you, but when you talk about 500 bad special effects movies that are boring as hell, just remember that three of those five hundred were made by you...

  • Hang your head in shame George. You destroyed anything of good will and creative imagination that the original (un-altered) trilogy was based around. FUCKING MIDICLORIANS ??? REALLY ? TRADE DISPUTES ? cus thats what all the kidsa like isnt it ? TRADE disputes and BLOCKADES.

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS Stop b ashing him you OWE him SO MUCH!

  • @maj1986 What the fuck do I owe George Lucas ? He owes me. Big fucking time, for puting up with his bullshit toy making products. Howard the "fucking" Duck ? Willow ? The Ewok movies ? Starwars musical special ? The prequal trilogy/Giant ass cartoons ? The fucking Ewoks in general ? Jar Jar ? Young cant act Anikin ? Teenage cant act Anikin ? The one thing that has kept George Lucas and the Starwars saga going, is the fucking lightsabre. Lucas owes us and Kershner.

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS YOU OWE him for how he changed pop culture into what is is TODAY. You most likely would not have any of the shit you love so much today in movies, TV or video games if it were not for the imagination of this man. PAY UP!!

  • @maj1986 George ruined what you love, and he did it for toys and the ranch. Go on, please, try to defend it ? I will laugh my ass off (hard) you are truly what Lucas must masterbate over. its people like you who made another trilogy possible. Hang thy head in shame. You dont deserve contempt..your the hardcore dress up like a stormtrooper and lets line Lucas`s pockets cash cows type. I OWE LUCAS SHIT. except a fucking kicking for explaining the force. Kershner made you lucas, FUCKING MADE YOU

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS You are just one of those "hate bandwagon" hoppers ...your just talking shit out of yer ass. You OWE LUCAS EVERYTHING he created what the entertainment world is today. Kershner did ONE film and brought character to what was ALREADY established I bet you don't know or care about anything else to do with Kershner so shut up

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS Kershner said if it were`nt for George he would'nt have done Empire. He stated that Lucas was the best producer he worked under.Jade sheeples like you just follow a uniformed opinion just like the clones along with the Jedi followed Palpatine. The whole irony is how the jaded fanbase have become part of Georges fiction.Whats even scarier is these same adult audience helps elect the future Emperors in the making by not having an opinion of their own.

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS Don't forget the Star Wars comedy that's coming up, if I'm correct about this information, Mr. Lucas wants to release the ot in 3d. Sigh. I'm done with the man. I'll learn from his original passion not the after prime time nothing special he, sadfully, became.

  • @TR0LL2R0CKS How DARE you!!? You know not of what you say you just spout insipid B.S.

  • Thanks George, much respect for you!

  • oh wow a storm trooper, LOL

  • star wars for life!!!

  • born in modesto like me lol

  • Comment removed

  • It's worth noting that Lucas never liked filmmaking and never cared for film. He never enjoyed the process, always wrote things he knew would be as broad and accessible as possible, and developed the technologies he did so that the craft and art of filmmaking would be as divorced from producing a movie product as possible, as he is a sickly weak business man who doesnt like challenge. Unfortunately his process has cannibalized the industry and handicapped the public sensorium.

  • kinda funny that he comments on the importance of simple but understandable characters. Thats exactly why the first 3 were so good, and the second 3 were bad special effects movies.

  • I have great respect for George Lucas. He made six highly successful movies and whether or not you like all of them, they will always be remembered in the film world. He made the movies the way he wanted, and left his mark. Sure the new trilogy wasn't as good, but their his movies and he seems to be happy with him.

  • @courtjesterstudio

Actually, he's made eleven highly successful movies (6 Star Wars, 4 Indiana Jones, American Graffiti).

  • @courtjesterstudio Amen, brother.

  • @courtjesterstudio He is going to make 7 highly successful movies

  • What I want to know is where in the world did he find the sandcrawler?

  • he did the same with his Willow story.

    wd Mr Lucas

  • He did direct Episodes I, II, and III... and this was a wrong move I think. I like the way he handled the original trilogy in allowing others to take position as director; as with The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi.

  • i wish he actually thought about what he said about "story" and "special effects" in SW episode 1 and 2

  • You had it once George, then you lost it.

  • True and he didnt even direct his movies, the ideas are what important. Its a shame he ran out of good ones, to be replaced with fart jokes and jar jar binks

  • one thing I;ve learned about lucas....he seems to hate talking shop about his movies....he'll talk about a movie overall...but ask him a tech question about say,the empire, he will just tune out.

  • Lucas overlooks everyones work to make sure that what their doing matches the things in his head. It isn't his job to learn 3D max, or how to do a matt painting, it's his job to tell them what he wants.

  • that's right.

    Lucas is a idea man.

    he comes up with ideas.

other people work to realized his idea.

problem is, Lucas ran out of good ideas.

  • remake them or sequel the shit out of em but please dont copy our movies, only we can lolol.

  • Lucas is badass.

  • He was.

  • What happened.

  • Episode I-III and Indy 4.

  • Oh come on dude..

Was it really that bad? Sure it was orthodox how he made them but at least he finished the saga.

  • Anyone can finish a saga. Not anyone can do it in convincing way, though.

  • Yet half the world loved the films.... Remember, George Lucas is not only a great filmmaker, but also someone with great commercial knowledge. The last three films were almost as succesfull as first 3.

  • A successful movie doesn't always mean it's good. Especially not in this case.

  • That's a matter of opinion. To the distributors and producers of a film it is the measure point of how good your film really is. And Star Wars has always been innovating. George Lucas pushes the boundries of filmmaking to a new level

  • The first three films were innovating for sure. The new ones, not so much. Just a bunch of bad CGI and bad characters. Like Jar Jar and Anakin Skywalker.

  • Like Transformers 2..

  • And the first one.

  • *in a convincing way

  • cool i too despise successful people!!!!!!

  • Are you serious? The guy is fucking 65! He isn't even shallow or superficial enough to bother with any nip and tuck, unlike yourself, I'd imagine. Give the guy a fucking break!

  • Ummm...

    Thanks for the attack....

I was refeering to his heart condition....Health-wise, you idiot!

  • Oh ok..sorry

  • lol at both of you, number one its shallow and lazy to let yourself go not to mention health wise, number two lucas is shallow and superficial twit for being one of the main influencers of anti-piracy in hollywood. remake great movies all we want but please dont copy them right guys? lmao.

  • yes it was so fun for george he forgot to mention he had a heart attack during the making of it lolol. the more money people make, the more detached they become from reality and the public. props for star wars, boo for lucas's politics in hollywood.

  • i feel like the celebrity that he got after a new hope might have done some damage to his creativity or at least focus on what got him the fame but i dont know for sure

  • @sumakaran if your saying the saga is 9 episodes then how could you develope a finished story????

  • George Lucas is a God

  • thats a bodyguard

  • hey ppl STARWARS 4EVAH!!!! thanks george from a fan.

  • STAR WARS KICKS ASS! YA! thankyou george lucas

  • He said it was low budget. What would $10 Million in 1977 equal to in today's currency?

  • Absolutely, I think he means by the standards he expected to achieve it was a low budget.

Rocky beats this by a long way though, that only cost 1 mill to make.

  • like 17 million or so

    still low for hollywood

  • STAR WARS!!! Greatest Saga ever, FUCK Twilight!

That douchebag Robert whoever the hell needs to properly comb his hair, he looks like a damn fool.

  • Woah, who even compared the two? No one would, no worries bro.

  • That goes without saying which makes me wonder why you said it

  • dont blame the actor, he was realy cool in Harry Potter, but yeh, twilight is rather gay, :P

    STAR WARS IS SO COOL,

  • @Ericbskywalker haha people have bin telling that robert pattison that for a long time but hes to distracted by all the other shirtless gay guys on twilight to notice it :) Fuck twilight! STAR WARS FTW

  • Thank you George Lucas, thank you so much!

  • @mousitsoula , Fuck you George Lucas, fuck you so much!

damn fat turd needs to stop altering movies, keep them the way they are, AWSOME, dont add some dumbass stuff in all the old star wars movies, you didnt improve them , you FUCKED THEM UP!!

  • @dedam85

You really need to grow up! If you dont like it gtfo of here and never come back!

  • @dedam85 It's his vision, so quit trolling. He's done a good job of keeping it awesome, and you should respect that.

  • i LOVE STAR WARS!!!!!!!!!! =)

  • Its so weird what he says at the end about special effects movies considering the new trilogy.

  • considering how much everyone focused on the special effects, maybe he was just like "hell lets give em what they like" and stopped caring to much about the story line

  • I rather disagree. Take away all your perceptions about the films in terms of dialogue, acting, visual effects (and Jar-Jar), and just map out what takes place over the course of the prequel trilogy.

It's actually a really good story. There's just so much SFX work, it tends to overwhelm the other aspects.

  • It seems to me that Lucas would have made episode 1-3 better as far as the acting is concerned but found that people were more into the effects. Guess he is not as dumb as I had originally thought.

  • yes, complete saga is 9 episodes, but last three would be a tv series.

  • wait, did he just say "9" movies?

  • he said not 9 movies

  • So...when he talks about the horrible special effects movies that came out after his original Star Wars films, I can only assume he's talking about the new trilogy, right? I mean...if you wanna talk about bad acting and bad dialogue and way too many special effects, look no further.

  • george lucas is his own writer right???srry if it sounds noobish. i want to be a director when i grow up. i'm 11 right now.

  • then do it! nobody stops you!!

  • "First, I'd like to inform you that I've only directed three movies ..."

  • I think it's funny that the stormtroopers were standing there like bodyguards..

  • Anyone who calls Lucas a sell-out or a hack needs to watch this video. Even though he has shifted from a directorial position to an entrepreneurial filmmaking position, he still regards art and story as primal and special effects as a means of achieving this.

  • KICK ASS, George! I love the last 2 min. of his speech.

  • george lucas ha no chin

  • correct, he looks just like a verry creative walking slug with a beard =)

  • thats right lucas. movies aren't about sfx, it's the story, emotion, balance to make the magic work. star wars is timeless, it works. todays stuff is generic, nonsensical and overthetop sfx, easilly forgotten.

  • Yeah I agree, have you seen these new Star Wars movies--oh shit, nevermind.

  • george lucas is awsom

  • george lucas is a legend!!!!

  • I think it would be nice if you guys could start putting up the year on your videos...just a thought.

  • This was AFI's 40th Anniversary in 2007. Thank you for the suggestion.
