@flapane This was the College Park stop on the Green Line. I have a longer version of this video showing the green line from Greenbelt to Prince George's Plaza, it's in the "Video Response" section - If you are interested.
That is the updated door chime and announcement on DC metro trains. I like both the new updated announcement and the old-school *Doors closing... *ding-dong* noise.
how would you like to ride it every day, like some of my family members have to do? They hate it. Plus, you get some operators who abuse the announcements too, and play them a million times
That sounds frustrating. I've never had the opportunity to ditch my car for the subway/train for extended periods of time. I wish Orlando had a system like this - all we have is plenty of toll roads, some buses, and TONS of aggressive drivers - Orlando is the most dangerous city in the US for pedestrians too (so crossing a street on foot is like gambling). So, from my point of view, it would be nice to at least have the option of a large subway system.
i love going to DC and riding the metro. After about a week of hearing "Doors opening, step back to allow passengers to exit. When boarding, please move to the center of the car" and "Step back, doors closing" and "Step back to allow the doors to close", you get used to it haha
LOL that'd get VERRRRY annoying after a couple times haha I feel sorry for those DC commuters, better bring the iPod LOL!! I was in Frisco this past week and whenever they close the doors on the buses a voice says "Please hold on" at the perfect time because half a second later you practically fall over as the driver floors it to the next stop LOL!! Not nearly as annoying though, but it's hilarious (especially for locals watching tourists get on for the first time!!) :D
Awww, kind of miss the DC metro :)

Love this set of announcements! A strange choice to use of step back though, never heard it anywhere but this metro.

This used to not be like this...I remember in the '90's when the subways just had a chime! I miss those days.
ineedabuspass 1 year ago
@ineedabuspass Yeah I remember when they had the old "bing-bong" sound. Simple and effective.
FormerWMDriver 1 year ago
That would annoy the shit out of me. Glad I live in Toronto.

@ttcsubway209 Yeah I don't have that problem in Orlando... there's no trains period.

Everytime I ride the Metro, the chime makes me think of the NBC chime, minus the last note.

Yeah I love going to DC too! I just don't have the luxury to do it very often... so when I do go, the chime sticks in my mind for the first day. =)
