You can trim the lower beak if it is over grown but you have to be more carefull on that. Trimming as small bits as possible at a time. Same techniques apply to lower beak as upper.
Thank you for sharing that video. I followed you instructions on how to trim a starlings beak and trimmed my starling Cleo's beak yesterday and now she can eat lots better.
I would also like to ask you a question and see if you can help me on it. Can you give starlings those vitamine drops in their food and water? The same kind you use for parakeets? I think my starling could use some Vitamine A. I don't think she is getting enough of it. What things will she eat that has lots of Vitamine A ?
If you are feeding a nutritionally complete diet, as the ones recommended on Starlingtalk. com, then you shouldn't need to give additional supplements. Look for the adult Starling diet recipe on starlingtalk. com
Yes. Monet is generally better about these things than my other Starling, Cheerio. At least she did put up some fuss. I don't wan't people to think that if their Starling complains that they are doing something wrong. It is normal for Starlings to complain about having their beaks trimmed.
Can you trim a starlings lower beak?
Our starlings upper beak is NOT overgrown, but I still think that both beaks are generally too long when you compare it to other starlings beaks.
If this is the case, should I trim her lower beak then her top beak to make them both shorter.
Thanks.
