How old was your iggy when she laid them? What size was she also. And conditions that you did for her and them? I have 2 blue iguana's im trying to mate and stuff so I built a custom cage for them. you can see them and the cage on my video.
awh nice to see your iguana is a girl ^_^ and yes, they lay just like chickens, year round, and they aren't fertile unless a male has been in contact with her. have fun with your iguana ^_^
@LennyDelDuca animals who lay eggs don't have to mate to lay eggs. When an egg is unfertilized it will not turn into a baby but they can still lay eggs.
The eggs were thrown out, they do not hatch because they were not fertilized eggs.
She was about a year and a half or 2 years in this video. Yes, she was fairly young to be laying eggs.. She has since laid eggs again this spring and is healthy and well.
She is a small iggy, for 3+ years she is still rather small.
I will make a new video of her soon and post it so watch for it. :)
Curlytopsricoa im not making this up but ur baby iguana is gonna die thats how ma iguana waz she didnt want to eat for days i had to put food in her month than she eats it she waz weak
thanks man i love ur video,,i have a question about iguana my baby iguana maybe has an illness i just sold it yesterday and it wont eat any foods i try cabbage and other food that u gave but it wont open his mouth,,and he or she is allways asleep,i hope you can reply with this..
wow poor iguana, she must have been very stressed out your sooo very lucky she didnt become egg bound and die! cause alot of them do, plase think of saving up and finding a great reptile vet and getting her fixed before this happens again, she will live much longer and be happier too, check out my feeding, lighting and egg laying videos sometime and email me if you need anything
I have been told to let them lay eggs and it's natural and safe. She handled it fine and I have talked to lots of owners who have had theirs lay eggs too. . Ive never heard of them getting fixed? is that even possible with iguanas? wow.
well if they are kept very healthy they usuaally dont have a problem and if you had an egg box for them to use but it does risk their life every year cause its such a drain on them we have a vet school who can fix our males & females for free because we are a non-profit & it really helps with aggerssion & their health theres is also a small risk when reptiles are put under for an operation so i wouldn't let just any vet do it & theres a chance they can stop breathing up to 24 hours after
@MrBinty1440 hi how long do pregnant or nearing pregnancy igs go off food / eat less Pickle is 30 " and approx 2ys old and is eating less any help thanks
@mapexdad well my babygirl stopped eating about 2 weeks before she laid eggs, she was 5 feet long and had 42 eggs in her so she was packed! but she drank water afew times a day while i made her egg box up, sometimes when they have not be bred they will reabsorb the eggs sometimes not and get egg bound so then only an operation will save her so keep an eye on her & u might want to get an x-ray to see whats going on inside cause if 1 breaks inside she'll die from the infection
@MrBinty1440 hi did you get my message about Pickle ,she has minor health issues , im sorting out her temps; which are 80- 85 / a basking spot of 92 -6 now habistat controled1, 4 diff thermometers one is battery opperated, give diff readings at diff temps,. 2 different reptile ones in shop were readng 10 degrees different . Sitting in a temp of 92 how should she feel to the touch or could her temp be measured help ! thanks
@MrBinty1440 As i said i took Pickle to the vets (rep specialist)and as they said shes not gravid WRONG shes just spent 1.5 hrs and 12 eggs proving them wrong .Still shes rediscoverd lovely food , thanks Chris
nope indicasatitfa is right they only need to mate to make fertalized eggs, but can make eggs every year just because its egg season, watch my video of my Babygirl laying eggs and she was not mated but it does stress them out bad and it a huge strain on him and can kill them
these eggs were not fertile, I have no male iguanas around here so I don't have to worry about baby iggy's! I just threw the eggs out after she was done.

is it expensive to go to school to be a reptilian vet?
Xspork201X 3 years ago
yea alittle cause you goto a vet college for training but hey they make alot of money too! and people will always need vets for their pets
MrBinty1440 3 years ago
yes but its not worth the money just let them do it(though it does get un healthy after awhile(but it $300 to $700 to get one fixed)
