Hello,,,Was the bridge doctor hard to fit ? any tips ? did you use a bridge pin instead of drilling the bridge ?.....fantastic playing BTW lovely sound ....keep posting the instructional vids a great way to pass it all on IMHO
@eightpans i had a luthier do this, i wasn't into building yet, he used a single bridge pin( only charged for one) I think he liked the idea, he'd never seen it before, it is easy, especailly with the pin setup....I will definitely post some more how to play stuff, i have been helped a lot by other people's stuff, so indeed a good way to pass on the benefits!!!!! happy playing and thinaks for watching!!!!
After playing Martin, Taylor, Takamine and Ovation 12 strings.....The 500 Dollar Seagull handily took them back to school and confiscated their lunch money.
Why don't you post a lesson for this song? I'm sure it would be appreciated by all those players out there, trying to learn this song properly,( like me!) go on.......
@staygee1 thanks for watching, you know I keep watching and watching Leo Kottke, and I wonder how can I be like him!!! LOL!!!! only Leo is Leo.......he is still my all time FAVORITE guitarist...it is nice to try and get a bit of that Leo sound going, I actually thought of posting a video on how to learn this one or get close anyway...
I have a strange feeling in my stomach...oh yeah, it's JEALOUSY!!! The sound of that guitar with the heavy gauge strings and YOUR playing is an intoxicating combination. Jaw-droppingly good. I'm going upstairs to practice - see you in about 200 years time!
That, my friend, was a really neat performance of the Kottke song, like your style, can I ask you what Open tuning you are using? I bought a Seagull 12, back in early 90's, lovely sounding guitar, had to sell it, hard times, now use Tak 12, picking on a 12, really takes practice, I've been doing it for 8-9 years now, and I really think you have to avoid a six-string to do it!
Really well done! Klottke's stuff is not easy to pull off and you did this great! I have a seagull 12 string too and they are just great guitars. I was trying to tune down low like this with slightly lighter strings (starting with 12s on the high e) and I had some problems with buzzing strings and the intonation up the neck was not quite right. Did you have to adjust the truss rod a lot to get your guitar to play well with the heavy strings in low tuning?
@MultiMarktwain , sorry for the delayed response I had a luthier set this up, so I'm unsure how much adjustment was required, I am trying to learn as I start building instruments.....i'd say it is definitely worth it to have one set up by a pro for heavy strings...!!! thanks for watching
not sure, but into thin air they went, it does seem impossible to contact youtube, even though I tried, I could never get a comment posted on the help page.
I'm just grateful I didn't lose my fav's, subscriptions, etc...all the stuff that has really made this effort worth while....
by the way do you have tab to " Part Two"? I really loved it. thanks
Part Two tab can be bought from Stropes Editions Ltd. or there's a free tab at the Tab Pigs website. I can't vouch for the accuracy of the latter but their stuff is usually good.
Esplendid! Strong songs! Greetings form Brasil

heavy gauge on a 12 string? yeesh! how were your fingers after that?
Sounds really good though
InnuendoXP 6 months ago
@InnuendoXP actually the heavy gauge strings are not really bad, I had the action set by a pro, and remember I'm tuned way down......

Excellent playing. I'm looking to purchase a Seagull 12 string. Is that the cedar top model?
