the Swiss are great at inventing and engineering, but i believe that only the Japanese can take over that concept and make an affordable product out of it while still maintaining decent quality. they will be copying this, for sure.
Its a lovely bit of kit. I would never consider buying one because of its prohibitive cost.
.
Those who commented on here saying its not as safe as a car. Please go away and die of boredom. We are not interested in your Honda Civic. The people who will have a monotracer will most likely have a chuffing great Merc, an A8, M5. Ferrari or Porshe Maybe even a couple of other motorcycles too. £50,000 says why.
.
Lastly, those drop down bogey wheels are semi-automatic. A 20yr g'tee fixes any ills.
1st : the support wheel system just does not fail!
That's a swiss precision mecanic, works like a swiss watch.
2nd: if the vehicle would fall, it would fall to the support wheel. No scratch!!
Push buttom lift it up again!
3. if the support mecanic really would fail, You can wind the vehicle up by hand and let the suport system on the road. speed in this mode is limited to 80km/h
Would love to see mass produced affordable cabin motorcycles, the fuel economy gains are amazing.A removable or sliding canopy could be a option,I prefer the hardtop.
The fact that it consumes only 3 liters per 100Km it`s a blast. a top speed of almost 300 km per hour and a BMW engine. What else?! of course. the price thing. But imagine if they were produced in mass worlwide, I`m more than sure prices would go low.
theres wheels on the side to prevent the body from even touching the ground. theres a vid on here of one wiping out. the driver picked it back up and drove off. and if u fell off a bike at speed, i doubt you would be able to get up and out of the way anyway
Ok Yamaha, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki,... Make one, but better (automate the stabilizer laser and speed sensitive with manual option. Ready Y.H.K.S. On your your mark get set go! America will buy most anything!---I flippen love innovation!!! God does to man Im tellin ya. lol
it can't filter through traffic efficiently. going up and down sidewalks also might be a problem; driving on a gridlock in a highly chambered turn with stabilizers (not sure). Making very tight chambered corners at slow speed; Not the ideal position to check the asphalt for dirt or other slippery stuff. On the good side, you don't get wet, it has lots of potential for passive security vs conventional bikes. it has lots of potential for further automation of some driving aspects. Nice
haha i was thinking the same thing.. and i think the video showed the side wheels coming down being manual so what happens if you forget to put the wheels down.. you fall over? haha
That's like forgetting to put your leg out. Drivers simply change the legs-out movement to the thumb-flick one.
In addition, Peraves make sure all owners receive a thorough training in their vehicles before using them; and after 30 years of experience not one of them has had problems with the stabilizers.
The monotracer comes with a 25-years warranty (except for the powerplant, which is sourced from BMW and haves a 2 years warranty) That is quite a big commitment to build quality!
future motorcycles look lame, the reason people ride is because they dont like the coffin feel of cars, all this is an estention of a car, with only 2 wheels, and some training wheels for the novice lol
you know i wish i could buy this car, but its not economic in any way. 50,000 pounds is not a little amount of money. i definately agree with what you said glomerol

From the site:
"The Peraves MonoTracer features a self-supporting composite-monocoque chassis thats made of kevlar and carbon fiber, bonded with epoxy-resin and reinforced with aluminum crash and roll bars."
It looks better than the original design, but still looks ugly, especially the nose and the tail. But it is an awesome idea, i would definitely buy one.
i want to know the prize of this thing and if they are only going to make 100 every year in which place are they going to sell it europe, U.S.A., U.K where?
there is the car belt, but still you're right about breaking your scull. One will still need a helmet to ride this thing, since you will most probably hit your head in the side, although it's a lot more safe.
I want this... I've always wanted a motorcycle but my parents tell me its so unsafe and stuff like that... I'm curious, whats the safety like for this? What about the price tag? I don't expect to afford this for like another 30 years... by then though there will be something better.
Im surprised the major motorcycle companies haven't produced a affordable enclosed, cabin motorcycle, the timing is right. The stabilization wheels should be speed activated, speed sensor, etc, with a manual overide when circuit is open, shorted etc.

Death-trap. And I don't care what they say to the contrary.
Imagine dropping one at speed in a right-hand corner. That sleek
skin means you keep sliding until you hit something immovable -
an SUV, etc. Unlike a conventional bike, you can't even get up and
run out of the way of a second impact. No thanks.
Plus, I saw a guy in a similar thing riding around in Chatham Co.,
and every stop sign was a near-disaster til those outriggers
deployed.
You want practical, buy a Honda Civic.

SoldierCyfix 2 years ago
That depends on how you define 'car' or 'motorcycle'.
I think the monotracer hits the hybrid sweet spot between the two.
You can lean it, and probably open some windows, and AFAIK, it has a lower center of gravity so it's more stable and possibly more manouverable.
Because it's enclosed, it's also safer than a bike and more comfortable, aerodanamic and economic than either a bike or, in some ways, a car.
Post a video here of the results if you ever get one and take the training-wheels off. ;)
Glomerol 2 years ago
you know i wish i could buy this car, but its not economic in any way. 50,000 pounds is not a little amount of money. i definately agree with what you said glomerol
ripazhakgggdkp 2 years ago
This thing? I don't believe it's any safer than a motorcycle in a crash; it looks too fragile to offer any real protection.
All of the enclosed feeling of a car with the safety of a motorcycle... I don't know.

Glomerol 2 years ago
I still prefer my motorcycle. Frankly speaking, in a wreck? I don't want to be trapped with the bike (and hard-candy shell aside, this is a bike).
Also, I can't imagine how the center of gravity on this could be "lower" than a motorcycle. Way more weight top-side.
Kaltros 2 years ago
I think there's also info on the center of gravity compared with typical bikes. I'll let you look for it. :)
Apparently it's effectively a recumbent and AFAIK, recumbents have lower centers of gravity.
