  • Thank you for the video! Great idea - presented well

  • @openupfresh As it gets older you eat it and replace it with new stock.

  • That's a great idea! I made emergency kits for our family in BPA-free water bottles. And several people asked me to make them for their family. I wonder about the shelf life of the items in the kit. But that could be modified based on my family. I'll have to think it over. I'm going to share this on twitter. I'm @careKits.

  • Awesome idea!

  • Omg this is by far the most brilliant idea EVER!!!! Thank you oh so very much for posting this video. I am definitedly on the right path to preparedness (don't know if this is a word jijijiji)

  • Great idea (and web site) - thanks.

My contents would be a bit different ... thats a whole lot of MSG ("natural flavoring") your packing in there. MSG is an excito-toxin that negatively affects your brain cells. Glutamate and MSG are the very LAST things you need in a stressful situation. So, you better pack a bottle of some type of pain killer in there to counter the toxic MSG and aspartame headache your going to get under stress.

  • Hello and thank you for giving the rest of us a great idea. Most people do not have a concept of 72 hour kit and so they go through life in a fog. Inner contents are up to personal taste, the main idea is food stuffs that take up little space and are easy to carry. I like the idea of the milk jug, it is something that everyone has and has a handle for carrying. I use a back pack for my kit but this is another great idea and most people would keep it in their car. Thank you.

  • not to rain on the parade but great value brand kinda taste nasty and im not a picky eater lol but i bought some the while back it was pretty gross just saying im all about ppinching pennys but there are a few things you just cant skimp on lol but any way thats my two cents great video thumbs up :)

  • Thank you for helping us on a school project

  • i would't wanna put too much tape on becasue it would be really hard to get off if you didn't have a knife or something..

  • nice video, but you might want to consider not putting the can and stove and pellets at the bottom, because then you have to take everything out to be able to cook something

  • That was a really good idea --- putting items in an empty plastic jug for easy storage and carrying. I re-use my water jugs by refilling them at the water store however they eventually get old and I have to toss them out ... now I have a new use for them. Thanks for posting and I will take a look at your website for more ideas!

  • Thank you for making this video, i've just started doing food storage for my family. I was a little confused on what to do for the 72hr kit, thank you so much.

  • This one works for me to have in my trunk; since my backpack is already full with clothes and other necessities.

    good idea, the milk jug

  • Good effort, 72 hour kit is a good start, sure you might need more than 72 hours, this is one layer of many needed.

Often cans are lined with plastic chemicals that break down with heat, no idea if that's healthy.

Me, i'll stick to coast guard rated rations, less space, no time spent cooking, no effort, less chance of food going bad (5 yr shelf) holds up in vehicles (up to 350F), and is hardcore sealed until use with more than just tape and a prayer.

Still, good concept for the masses.

  • thats too improvised for my taste !

and there are missing several needed items !

who says u stay at home in case of disater?

better pack it all in a backpack with extra cloves and tools etc.

ohh and btw way do u realy think this is all gonna and after 3 days? i dont think so better plan for 3 months thats more likely !!!

  • One nice thing about this set up is that even if YOU don't need the kit, you CAN give it away as charity, either to a local homeless mission or other soup kitchen...OR in an actual emergency, if you're at your home and have your full pantry, you can give it to your not so prepared neighbors and hopefully they'll get the message to "prepare better next time, knuckle-head!" :) Or, you can feed the contents to your family over a period of time before it goes entirely bad.

  • i would not recommend giving anything away !!!

first u dont know if its realy ovr after 3 days ! i doubt it!

and the risk getting robbed skyrockets after everyone knows u r prepared this is endangering u and ur family !!!

  • Great Video. I cant find the wing tip stove. Any suggestions? (I did try emergency essentials and I didnt see it on the website)

  • The reason I find this an excellent solution is; Each person can carry, child or adult in a pinch, and nothing except prior planning is required and a clean, empty milk jug. Thanks.

Let's hope we don't need em.

    peace :)

  • You are very good in your videos , you are passing the message to my wife that emergency preperness is not just a man's to take care thing ..

  • why don't you just put all that stuff into a backpack instead of a milk jug? if the pack is big enough you could also put in other stuff you need, like extra clothes, and probably havr room for that water bottle. And you'd have your hands free whle carrying a backpack. thats important for me since I have dogs.

  • I think it's a great vid, but don't think a whole pack of soup intended for 3 cups of watter, would be edible with only 8 ounces of water. That said you can buy single cup servings.

Thank you for taking the time to teach the rest of us.

  • Nice catch. I noticed after I filmed the video that I said it wrong. It's actually supposed to be one packet of soup split into two meals. So it would normally be 1 1/2 c. for that amount of soup and we'd just cut it down to 1. Not AS disgusting that way ;)

  • u put this vid up on my birthday

  • you are very smart!

i would not have thought i could pack all of that food in one jug.

amazing, and its easier and smaller than carrying it in a back pack or fannypack, thank a lot!!!!! 5/5

  • she does a good job of getting a lot in a little space.

  • yeah, i thought it was cool.

if there was extra room you could add like matches, a emergency blanket and flashlight w/ batterys and you`d be set for 3 days!

  • Nice!

You are packing a surprising amount of sugar, but it's not atypical for our American diet.

    Have a good time!

  • sorry to go off topic, but you are incredibly cute!!

  • Great idea also for a safe room - if you think nuclear fall out is a possibility in your area. Thanks so much!

  • Ya did not pack anything that requires cooking so who needs a stove JK But you need to ad 3 more jugs full of water 1gal per person per day minimum I do like the jug Idea though. I am going to do that with some of those clear gallon water bottles so I can see contents better

  • Great video! First time I have seen the milk jug used. Thanks for the info!

  • What if I like old , nasty , rotten milk in side my 72 hour kit??? lol Only kidding. lol

  • Would love to watch but have been unable to for 2 days now. Hopefully some one will fix this, what I saw on the website looks like this would be useful

  • I'm not sure why the video was being blocked or unavailable. That's very weird. It looks like it's up and running again though.

  • hey! wheres the video? I watched it an hr ago and wanted to rewatch it & take notes???

  • why is youtube blocking this video

I just watched it and now it says its unavailable

    wtf?

  • Very good video. Informative and simple to do. Some good tips are presented here.

But why would anyone dislike grape Jolly Ranchers? They're the best kind!

  • thanks!

  • Ingenious. I'm thinking about adapting this for camping.

  • Yeah , really creative using the milk jug.

  • These are some really different ideas...

    Thanks..

  • Nice vid - good info!
