@BlindleadintheBlind Don't want? No. We want proof so we CAN believe. So far, no proof has surfaced and I dare say proof never will. You don't understand atheism very well, do you?
@92spade The smugness of the entire planet should then make you vomit your intestines up.
Nobody, anywhere, with any belief, is NOT smug in some fashion.
As a human being you have a set of beliefs, indoctrinated or passively accepted, that give you an automatic sense of self-satisfied smugness, no matter how miniscule, that your beliefs are correct.
Nobody anywhere believes that everything they know is entirely, and completely wrong, and that everybody else is 100% correct.
@DeathsHood Thanks for that psychology lesson. I see now that I am wrong. The people in this video are obviously paragons of humility. My bad.
I see what you're saying. I do have a belief structure, but that doesn't mean that I get my jollies from publicly mocking folks who disagree with it. I'm not even saying these jerks are wrong; just that they're jerks.
@92spade I really couldn't care less if your opinion changes, because most people on YouTube are so ignorant that they'll never accept new information unless it's tattooed into their genetics.
The reason they 'publicly mock' as you put it, is because a) They find the beliefs illogical and irrational. and b) They, being Atheists, are entitled to return the potential YEARS of mocking they've put up with for their beliefs.
I was bullied for most of my school career for being Atheist.
It's not that the commenter thought those Christians were idiots. It's that they did not have all of the information learned. Think about it like this, there are professors out there who spent their whole lives dedicated to learning all there is to learn about math. But there are also 3rd graders who know that math exists, they just don't know everything about it yet. Which do you guys think debates better in terms of math?
I'm an atheist however, as is perhaps the wisest way of going about life, I constantly try and find a way to contradict my belief (or lack of it to put it better). However I haven't so far. There is a debate on Youtube between Christopher Hitchens and William Lane Craig in which WLC actually wins the debate. He was very intelligent however I believe Hitchens lost because he happened to be struggling with the questions at that time and the other guy avoided certain questions.
1. Atheism is a non-belief = a lack of belief . Ergo, I fail to see the "wisdom" in your statement "I constantly try and find a way to contradict my belief ".
2. I have grave doubts about the veracity of your statement that the half-wit Craig could win a "debate" with Hitchens - What video do you refer to ?
What I mean by winning the debate, I do not mean in a subjective sense, I mean in verdicts released by people, critiques and essays referring to the debate. Secondly the theist who I suggested won the debate against Hitchens is clearly more intelligent than the theists that call 'The Atheists Experience'. My point being is I personally think religion is ridiculous and filled with holes and flaws...however - just to point it out - there are intelligent theists out there.
Relatively, dare I say with self (IQ 160), he is a half-wit.
There is no such thing as an intelligent theist.
IQ is composed of a number of elements - individuals who cling to irrational beliefs may well be eloquently loquacious (and exude apparent intelligence), but they are far from intellectually endowed.
I have taken various IQ test via college or University and have recieved results of 150 and even as much as 170. Referencing the opinions of others and forming my own opinion isn't a "sin". Of course it would be preferrable to look into it yourself and form your own however, if a quantum physicist told me a fact about how the unverse works in terms of quantum mechanics, I will believe him/her since they are intellectually superior on that topic. That is wise, don't you agree?
By that I do not mean that I do not listen - it means that if I am uncertain (IE I do not already have sufficient knowledge to form my own opinion) I carefully evaluate and research before forming MY own conclusions.
I question EVERYTHING.
If you did not look at the debate in it's entirety, and this dialogue is based on your "hearsay" - that IS a "sin".
You did not disagree when I suggested you had not seen the entire debate ?
Referencing the opinions of others and forming your own opinion based on their opinion is forming an Opinion OF an Opinion - exactly as the bible was written - word of mouth passed down the line - with an undetermined and curious final outcome that bears no semblance of the original.
If a quantum physicist told me a fact about how the unverse works in terms of quantum mechanics, I would listen, then examine the actual evidence elsewhere - Wiser, don't you agree?
I do not value IQ tests, I only mentioned mine as I know others seem to. Lying on the internet is pointless. I think that a person's intelligence is too abstract to be simplified and generalised in one test.
Dawkins himself in video on here called 'The Four Horsesmen' (Watch it if you haven't already) said this: "I was having an argument with a very sophisticated biologist who’s a brilliant expositor of evolution, and he still believes in God. And I said how can you? What’s this all about? And he said I accept all your rational arguments, however it’s faith. And then he said this very significant phrase to me: “There’s a reason that it’s called faith!”. I am an athist btw.
Referencing the opinions of others - rather than viewing the debate in it's entirety - and forming your own - is a "sin" unworthy of comment. In fact, such would be "normal" behaviour for a godly individual - for such is the essence of their clingings.
Intelligent theists ??
How one views the intelligence of another is often relative rather than actual.
A moron with an IQ of 80 might view another moron with an IQ of 90 as being "intelligent".
Dear kind, loving and good Christian, I'm sure that, given the power, you would abolish vengeful, cruel & merciless Hell and replace it for a rational, useful, mending & pedagogical temporary premise.
@KeusFrench Strobel? Yes - wouldn't care to tangle with a guy that thinks "GOD" requires one to saw off the end of his penis. This "ritual" is called a covenent, you bob your apendage and "GOD" belly laughs at the gross stupidity of his greatest work.....(FYI - circumcison practiced in Egypt before the time of Abraham) Regards
@KeusFrench In simpler terms, Strobel is irrational, prefers the the tales told around the campfires at night by the bronze age Hebrew over the best scholarship of the present.
@KeusFrench Greetings - As skeptik, on occasion I am asked what if I am wrong (and I could be) by well meaning friends, their good intentions appreciated. The flip side of the coin - What if you are wrong (or Strobel etc.). No question, many both intelligent articulate are of faith, a mystery for me as it all boils down to a willingness to believe in magic. (virgin births, 800 yr. life spans, zombie saints, etc) Any chance Jews (for example) are right? And if you are wrong? Regards
And yeah of course there's a chance that I'm wrong. If I was to say God is 100% real because I say so, then that sounds kind of foolish, no? But the thing is, I don't think I'm wrong. Just like the majority of Atheists probably don't think they're wrong. It all falls back to what happens when we die and I truly believe that arguments will never cease until that day comes... :S
@KeusFrench Jews right? The bible tells us those that knew Jesus best (Jewish community including family) saw nothing extraordinary in him. Paul, his greatest promoter never met the man. Man has long demonstrated great imagination, worshipped hundreds of "GODS" now considered tribal folk lore. Maybe "GOD" spoke to Abraham, when that happens today we call it schizophrenia. A quote from Seneca - Religion is true to the common man, false to the wise man, useful to the politician. Regards
@1Skeptik1 I completely disagree. Jesus' own disciples thought the man was amazing. Paul advocated Jesus' authority and teachings everywhere. There were so many people who thought he was amazing. And people still think that today.
God can talk to people. It doesn't matter what quote you write down. It isn't a disease nor sickness.
@KeusFrench I enjoyed the exchange, always willing to hear an oposing position. That said it seems we are back to where we began, the question of a willingness to believe in magic, events (miracles) contrary to the world as we understand it today. In defending such a position a close friend once said, "Things were different back then", perhaps, but as for being probable? Regards
@1Skeptik1 Miracles happen. To doubt their validity is to be ignorant or to simply claim that it happened because of 'science' or 'the doctors' curing it. But there are cases where doctors have admitted to NOT knowing how the patient was cured.
And yes, you could also say that the persons body healed itself by natural causes. But those 'natural causes' were designed by a creator. If there isn't a creator then how could one say that humans heal naturally? Because nature has to begin somewhere.
@KeusFrench You are going in circles in an ignorant attempt to fit god in the gaps where science can't find absolute answers.
It's just absurd. There is 0 evidence of anything happening that doesn't follow natural order and the laws of reality, ever. Just because the laws of nature and universe are there, that is no reason to believe they had to be designed by intelligence, it's an assumption you make to justify unprovable claims from books written by people who did the exact same thing
@KeusFrench In the days of the first ideas about god they used deities to explain everything. What is the sun, what are the stars, what is the moon, why are they moving around the earth, why do bad things happen (cause we don't pray), why do good things happen (cause we prayed really hard), all of this stuff is attributable to explaining the unexplainable by injecting a god. Things don't work like that, we look at reality and form logical conclusions, this is how rational people think and learn.
Show me something that proves even one miracle happened. It can't be somebody getting better, people just get better.
When somebody dies, what do you say? You say that their death is a natural result of something that happened to them. But boom, when someone was sick and then it looks like they're healed, that's where you can claim that god intervened and saved someone. He didn't design us, why would he design things like HIV, parasitic worms, viruses, bacteria, if he loved humans? Truly evil.
@KeusFrench If god designed the universe then he created a truly screwed up and evil system.
He knows what you will do before you're born, he knows if you have the capacity to look at the evidence of holy books and accept them without thinking about their claims, he knows all of this. He creates us with free will, gives us the intelligence to reject absurd ideas without evidence, and then punishes us for eternity for not believing, while continuing to allow suffering and death on earth? WTF?!?!
@MrAgentGreeny He knows what you'll do before you're born. Yes. He gave us free will, yah. He gave us the intelligence we have to QUESTION things, and rightfully so, and to accept that which we deem to be best suited to our understanding.
If you truly understood even the smallest fraction of how loving Jesus was, you'd want to follow Him. The problem is that oftentimes people put God out of there minds because then they'd have to act a certain way. If you only gave Him a chance you'd WANT that.
You make all these assertions without providing any evidence for one.
This stuff is in your head, it's not based on reality, it's not based on actual facts about the world. The bibles are not divinely inspired, they are books full of myths that are being more disproven day by day as we learn more about the universe. The story of jesus is based on stories about sun gods from 3000bc like the egyptian god horus, you think he was god but books don't make it true.
@KeusFrench I believe the mutually incompatible religious doctrines, 2000 of which exist in the world, are causing more harm than good. I think it justifies some of the most unjust infringements on human rights across the world, and causes people to waste their lives believing in 1 of 2000 of these, assuming it's right, and deriving morality and behaviour from it. I know it's bad and I want to change at least the mind of SOMEONE. Even if god was there, he does nothing for us.
"Is God willing to prevent evil, but not able? Then He is not omnipotent. Is He able, but not willing? Then He is malevolent. Is He both able and willing? Then whence cometh evil? Is He neither able nor willing? Then why call Him God?" - Epicurus (c. 341 - c. 270 BC)
@KeusFrench Miracles/Ignorance? Such as the blessed virgin appearing to children in 3rd. world countries, or the angel Moroni visiting Joseph Smith (Mormon founder) in New York, or "GOD" cmmanding Abraham to bob off the end of his talliwacker? Such claims are common in virtually all religions. Do you honestly believe all magical assertions in religious context? How does one seperate great truth from great fiction if not by science? Miracles - I am open, but NEVER witnessd such. Regards
@1Skeptik1 I've never heard of the miracles you've mentioned but perhaps you have heard of the miracle of the Loretto Chapel Staircase.
Here is a video to explain it: The Loretto Chapel Staircase Miracle (on youtube).
And no I do not believe in every single 'acclaimed miracle'. That would be ignorance on my part. But there are a few that I cannot logically nor rationally deny, though the staircase breaks both those with its mystery.
@KeusFrench Spiral Stair Miracle? Interesting - "legend" has it a unknown carpenter built the stair in a church in N.M. You tube also states the nuns cimbed the unsfafe stair on hands and knees until a handrail was added 10 yrs later. My friend, in youth I was a Manufactiring Engineer, I agree a spiral stair is novel but insist it falls short of evidence of divine anything. I repeat, claims of the miraculous are common in all religions and fail to pass a rational "sniff" test. Regards
@1Skeptik1 It defies the law of gravity. How is that not miraculous? Or perhaps a better term for you, extraordinary? And it isn't only on youtube. It has tons of pages on Google about it. You can get information and all the facts on it.
@KeusFrench - Defies physics as we know it? Are you telling me this stair is suspended in mid air, no conection or support at either end? Have you seen this? Do engineers agree this defies explanation? James Randi has a million dollar prize waiting to be claimed for such a demonstration. Here a chance to become rich and famous my faithfull friend. Why not split the mllion with the church, I will be looking for the head line on the news. Until then, pardon the grin om my face. Regards
@1Skeptik1 Defies gravity - it should have fallen down by now and yet it hasn't. So yes, physics. Architects have agreed with that statement, as well.
I have not seen it for myself but others have. There is a whole congregation that inhabits that building daily, too. This 'James Randi', whom I know nothing of, by the way, cannot possibly accept this claim from anyone as technically no one made this happen except the mysterious carpenter who constructed this and then left.
@KeusFrench From your earlier post - 1Skeptik1 It defies the law of gravity. How is that not miraculous? I suggest if it should have fallen down it would have. The exchange was fun. I wish you well and close with a question for your consideration. I often wonder what possible use "GOD"( the all knowing, all power full, eternal being, creator of the universe) has for an American dollar? Think of this next time the collection plate goes by. Regards
@KeusFrench "The Epicurean lifestyle is a faulty one. Please don't use Epicurus as an example." You can't refute the logical argument, so you shift your attention to the philosophy and teachings of the one giving the argument? This is the very definition of an ad hominem. This is non-sequitur at it's finest. "Please don't use this argument"... Now that's a first.
@1Skeptik1 KeusFrench is correct when it comes to scripture, the Christian Gospels don't support what you are tryng to extrapolate from them. I'm not a Christian but speaking from an un-bias position I have to say the Jews were mad at yeshua for healing people on the Sabbath, they claimed he was a magician and worker of Magic, They also had problems with him raising people from the dead and casting out daemons by his own word, instead of the name of YHWH. The Orthodox Jews didn't approve of this
@HebrewTiger Thanks for sharing - My comment was based on John: 4/5. John 7:5 Greek Study Bible (Apostolic / Interlinear) Seems the claims of performing "supernatural" were rejected by some of the community.
KJV with Strong's
For neither did his brethren believe in him Regards
@1Skeptik1 I have a copy of the KJ analytical study bible, with concordance, I'm going to check it out, thanks for the ref, If I remember right, I think Thomas doubted him, thats why they called him doubting thomas. I'm going to have a read of it now.
sorry, you are mistake. ;Christians certainly have a concept of what constitutes truth, morality & the social good-just as you. These beliefs are expressed in all manner of good actions including feeding the hungry, aiding the poor, caring for widows and orphans, missions, opposing evil wars, social oppressions, and building hospitals and schools among many other endeavors. There is real good & evil & maybe it's your conscience bothered by certain behaviors. God rules our eternal destinies
basically all arguments made about religion boil down to faith. Its a yes or no question. Do you or do you not have faith that their is a God. there is no point in trying to prove anything. The human race is small in the likeness of the universe that this whole argument really is insignificant
Experts say 100,000,000,000 have lived on the planet, so basically 93,000,000,000 have died. If judgement day is real and the trials are conducted by the one and only god and it takes 2 hours per person then It would take 21,232,876 yrs to try all of them with no breaks or any time off. Keep in mind this is done at the same time god is watching and answering prayers for 7,000,000,000 people that populate the Earth as of today. THIS IS NONSENSE.
@Konicava You're saying John Lennox is intelectually inferior to you? or CS Lewis? I would hesitate before I claim all Christians are ignorant people. I am not a Christian myself but I agree with the person who sent in the email to this show. This show seems to take the most idiotic and absurd callers they can, It's like they set up stupid calls or something.
@HebrewTiger In the sense of a better knowledge of how we were formed, yes, I understand better how the universe and us were formed than a christian. And religious debate doesn't get much better than this, watch William Craig something, he's like their greatest debater alive, and you and I could easily win a debate over him. Religion after a while shows its true face, disgust for questioning minds, faith as base for their crappy religion, and of course, persisting and irritating dogma.
@Konicava I am fully aware of William Lane Craig, He beat Sam Harris in a debate so I'm assuming you are superior to Sam Harris when it comes to debating. You cannot say that you are less ignorant compared to William Lane Craig because he is not a young earth creationist, he uses every scientific study that you use, he does not reject evolution either. the only point where you and him differ is in your evidence based speculations. What data are you aware of that he is unnaware of?
@HebrewTiger Beat Sam Harris on a debate? Who decided that, catholic nuns? I don't agree with any argument that fucktard uses, at all. To me religion can be refuted by using jokes, simple jokes. You heard that one about the missionary and the eskimos? Its great.
I tought I was debating an atheist, which clearly you're not just by noticing your conservative views on it, pretend its all a lie and watch that same fucking debate again, you'll see Craig never won a debate in his life.
@Konicava No the amount of arguments conceded decides who won the debate, Sam Harris refused to engage Craigs case arguments therefore conceded the points. Tally up the overall arguments and you will find craig engaged all points harris made that were on the debate topic, Then tally up all of Craigs arguments that Harris refused to engage and you have your result. Clear victory to Craig. do you not know how to judge a debate?
@Konicava Mhm Harris did talk alot of that I agree with you, he conceded every premise and conclusion craig stood by, refused to challenge his arguments and lost the debate.
@HebrewTiger He is right and Craig is wrong. It makes no difference how many points Craig asserted, he was basing it off a fundamentally flawed view of the world, faith. His faith and your faith are the excuse people give each other to believe things without evidence. Atheism is just the noises reasonable people make when confronted with the patently ridiculous claims made by theists. Every one is different, and do you honestly believe that every other belief on earth is wrong except for yours?
@MrAgentGreeny My evidence based faith is nothing like william lane craigs 'reasonable faith'. I am not a christian nor do I belong to any religion. Atheists have just as much faith in the universe as Theists. you have faith that logic is sound, you have faith that you are not plugged into a fabricated matrix of reality, you have faith that people love you like your girlfriend and family, you have faith that the food is not poisoned when eating out, faith that your 5 senses are accurate.
@MrAgentGreeny There is nothing you know that isn't faith based apart from the fact that "Things" exist, that you can be absolute in. everything else is based off of your sensory perception of logic, every single thing you think you know about the universe is based on degrees of evidence based faith, mathematics is the only field of absolutes and that is an abstract field. The conclusions I have come to are based on reducing fallacy within philosophical reasoning, yet i still know it's all faith
@HebrewTiger So show me some evidence to support god existing and I will consider it.
I will demand the same degree of evidence as the leprechaun claim, not a book that says god exists, not someone who says they saw god. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and if you have to take it on "faith", that's why you believe things that you have no evidence for. You can add all the philosophical reasoning you want, but there's no reason to believe in god apart from old books.
@MrAgentGreeny What books? Who said I belong to any religion, I was an Atheist longer than you have been alive, I came to believe in a creator strictly through philosophical reasoning, and scientific study of the universe. If you do not come to the same conclusions as I did, that's not my problem, 2 people can view the same thing, and then come up with 2 completely different conclusions. All of the evidence points towards an eternal creative source, in my conclusions.
@HebrewTiger OK just explain how you came to that conclusion, why there has to be a creator, and why the creator doesn't need to be created. I don't think you will be able to explain either.
@MrAgentGreeny Of course I can explain otherwise I wouldn't believe it, You believe in something eternal aswell, otherwise you believe something can come from absolutely nothing, unless you reach the eternal apex you are stuck in an infinite loop of chicken and the egg philosophy. the reason why I see this creator as intelligent is because of how fine tuned to the exact decimal everything is, the universe runs on a program of laws, Laws and detailed coding does not appear by chance.
Saying what created the creator will just resort in further regression which will still result in an eternal loop regardless, I do not believe in a created, Creator, I will give you some advice that will help you, stop playing chicken and the egg, you will get nowhere and be stuck in an infinite fallacy and never progress, there is only 2 options it is very simple, either something came from nothing, or something is eternal, take your pick between the 2.
God is a spirit, an immaterial conscious being. All things in the universe consists of matter and/or energy, so if God isn't matter, is energy by definition. Energy is the capacity to do work, is eternal, omnipresent, wasn't created and can't be destroyed, can create matter, was the only thing present before the BB, and the energy required to make the universe must had been powerful. All these match Biblical descriptions of God. Therefore is plausible that God exists.
the first time that God says anything about practicing under false Gods. It made me feel like God is insecure, I am not impressed by an insecure God........you are GOD, if you are truly God then obviously people will know of you and praise you without question right, so where is this insecurity coming from? Esspecially if you don't seem to bare any other "negative" attributes that "ale" humans...so I'm just not impressed.
I can answer your question! Its because somebody who truly believes in God and has a brain larger than a tennis ball isn't going to watch a show that offends what they believe in. Only people who want to start a fight will call in and say some random stupid stuff that misrepresents Jesus Christ. I'm a 19 yr old Christian and I love Jesus. ps I came across this by accident
Please visit my channel for the unpopular truth about homosexuality.
A person does not need religion, hatred or any kind of phobia in order to acknowledge important, qualitative differences between heterosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption and homosexual attraction / behavior / marriage / adoption.
Homosexual activists, with complete support from the media, have succeeded at framing themselves as noble victims and martyrs; it's an effective way to push a social agenda.
Catholics and even mainline Protestants can believe in evolution. The Catholic Church has never been opposed to evolution, even in Darwin's lifetime. There's actually a pretty solid documentary by the BBC "Did Darwin Kill God?" (link's on my channell) which goes into this topic.
When people say silly things that promote a false dichotomy between religion and science, I always laugh and remember that it was a Catholic priest/physicist who developed the Big Bang theory..
@Koostbraaksel peaceful jews? say that to Jesus! The only true religion of peace is pastafarianism... now worship his flying spegettiness or spend eternity in boiling Neapolitan sauce!
@over18irish The CIA, FBI, ATF are completely under Jesuit control. The Jonestown massacre, the Waco massacre and other massacres(including the Twin Towers) were all orchestrated to cause worldwide abhorrence and demonization of any group that seeks to get out from under the control of the worldwide Jesuit influence, domination, subversion and infiltration.
I'd really be curious to see what the majority of Xians would do if they actually studied their religion, discovering that Judaism was polytheistic until they decided to covertly reconstruct Judaism to be monotheistic, claiming that it had always been so! Their deception concerning this fact of history, explains volumes to me, but would Xians get really honest with themselves & deconvert, or would they continue to deceive themselves?
You need to ask that? They're ALREADY deceiving themselves pretty damn bad. It's not a giant leap for them to do so concerning the history of the religion.
@mrmonnet fuck your prayers, they won't get answered because the man in the cloud is an asshole who loves to torture people and make good people suffer
@mrmonnet dude, i just want to live a good life and leave a legacy for others to follow, nothin major. I don't feel like i need a God to live a good and life and be scared into being a good person.
I hope christians will see the truth one day, and stop blindly following this religious cult
@mrmonnet Same as everyone else's; that people will stop killing each other, that my children live long happy peaceful lives, that my sister defeats her difficulties, that I am a good father, that my wife knows how much I love her. Stuff like that. Not believing in god is, I feel, irrelevant. My belief that there is no afterlife has meaning only in that it adds to the joy of being alive. You don't need to believe in a god to have hope in life.
@itsallepidemicrodney Sad life bro. My uncle used to tell me that he is 50 years old and hes amazed at how fast those 50 went. Life is short and it goes fast. I'm so glad I have a hope for something after this life is over. I'll pray for you bro.
@mrmonnet Why on earth would you think I need praying for? I'm sure you mean well, but I assure you that there is nothing sad about my life, and I certainly do not need you to pray for me. In doing so, you will be forcing your opinion on me. Do you think that's acceptable? Personally, I believe that it is the religious who live sad lives, promised an afterlife that does not exist. Do you think it's acceptable for me to force that opinion on you? I doubt it. So, please, don't pray for me.
@itsallepidemicrodney That's what you don't understand!! I'm not talking about religion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm talking about a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe!
I'm commanded to pray not only for you but for all those that don't know the truth. And the truth is there is one God and one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus!
@mrmonnet There are four critical words missing from the beginning of your last post, mrmonnet. They are "in my personal opinion". I don't believe in the christian concept of sin. So what you're really doing here is forcing your views on me. Again.
You have just as much of a personal relationship with god as teenage girls have a personal relationship with justin bieber. No, even less actually, at least teenage girls can prove justin bieber exists.
@mrmonnet ....wait, you're serious? you think god needs your prayers to know who needs saving? get out of here! You make god seem so small it's insulting.
@mrmonnet I once saw a baby getting eaten by a crazy wild dog. Isn't the idea that the baby is neither in heaven or hell hilarious? I mock your god and his love of baby-eating dogs.
@mrmonnet I love you too and wish we could meet one day and perhaps, if I'm lucky, we would fall in love. I hope you don't mind that I'm a sexy man with lots of muscle.
As for atheists being hurt, some of them have been but not me. And those who've been hurt because of their stance of non-belief were more than likely persecuted by people preaching the word of the (cunt-like) lord.
@mrmonnet most christians are delusional and want to think they are soo special a god pays special attention to them. If that god had even been th emoral god they claim him to be, but he apparantyl condone of murder, genocide, rape, child sacrifice, bashing infants heads against rocks, cutting open pregnant womens wombs to kill their unborn babies, and more.
@ExcaliburClan Yes sir.. Well Paul actually wrote that but I believe it. He's not concerned with the earthly, 60-70 years at best is the human lifespan, hes concerned with eternity. If your drawn to him it becomes very clear that this life and everything in it is temporal. God bless
@mrmonnet ofc if he doesnt exists, he would also not be concerned with the earthly.
But imagine this, when you die you will rot in your grave and earthworms will eat your corpse clean, and your only life will have been wasted imagining things that turned out to be false. Wouldnt that be a waste ?
@ExcaliburClan Ahhh, but imagine I'm right and you burn, as well as all your loved ones, forever because you rejected the gospel. And they look at you and you regret FOREVER that you didn't accept Christ.
I on the other hand if I'm wrong bc I lived for Christ i don't become a drunk, i don't get AIDS,i have a wonderful marriage bc me and my spouse serve Christ, i don't end up in prison (unless its for Christ sake) and I die and its over, yet i still lived a pretty great life.
@mrmonnet then provide the evidence for you being right - the bible itself is not valid evidence, because frankly it sucks, there is no test to see there even is a god, even less so that he provides a heaven after you die where you can spend an eternity counting perals at the gate. Mental patient make claims of similar magnitute as you do.
Christians are overrepresented in jail, did you know this? And that applies for pretty much every country in the whole world.
@ExcaliburClan You really need to read a Bible bro. Most unbelievers have this view of christianity thats totally ridiculous. But wout Christ you wont read it. I challenge you to read the New testament,
@mrmonnet i did read it, did you ? Do you believe the following is morally good ? (Deuteronomy 22:28-29 NLT) If a man is caught in the act of raping a young woman who is not engaged, he must pay fifty pieces of silver to her father. Then he must marry the young woman because he violated her, and he will never be allowed to divorce her.
Poor girl, raped and forced to marry her rapist...
@mrmonnet what if the correct god is Allah ? Then you are screwed aswell. How do you select wich of all gods are the true one ? Is it Zeus, Thor, Odin, Zuhl, Bahl, Mithra, Kahli. How do you determine what imagination is true ?
Not all religions can be right, but they can all be wrong. And since the evidence for all of them is lacking, it is likely they are also all wrong.
@ExcaliburClan One word: JESUS, find out who he is, his purpose, his character, his mission. I was just like you a few years ago, but I met Jesus. All I ask is you study his life.
@mrmonnet one word: REALITY. Find out about it, why it is better than delusion and religion, and why god is an immoral asshole who should be shot, if he hadnt been the invention of humans.
And for gods sake (pun intended) read all of your own bible, not only the parts that you like...
@mrmonnet Jesus saves us by sacrificing himself for man's sins.
I don't know about you, but I believe that scapegoating, or transferring your sins onto someone else, is a completely immoral concept. No court in any civilized nation would allow scapegoating,

92spade 3 weeks ago
@92spade The smugness of the entire planet should then make you vomit your intestines up.
Nobody, anywhere, with any belief, is NOT smug in some fashion.
As a human being you have a set of beliefs, indoctrinated or passively accepted, that give you an automatic sense of self-satisfied smugness, no matter how miniscule, that your beliefs are correct.
Nobody anywhere believes that everything they know is entirely, and completely wrong, and that everybody else is 100% correct.
DeathsHood 2 weeks ago
@DeathsHood Thanks for that psychology lesson. I see now that I am wrong. The people in this video are obviously paragons of humility. My bad.
I see what you're saying. I do have a belief structure, but that doesn't mean that I get my jollies from publicly mocking folks who disagree with it. I'm not even saying these jerks are wrong; just that they're jerks.
92spade 1 week ago

All faith-based beliefs have ignorance as a prerequisite.

@tellnet

2. I have grave doubts about the veracity of your statement that the half-wit Craig could win a "debate" with Hitchens - What video do you refer to ?
tellnet 1 month ago
@danutcase66
... Continued from previous response..
Perhaps you refer to the debate as shown in full at v=4KBx4vvlbZ8.
Which was CLEARLY won by Hitch.
Or perhaps you refer to the dumb fuck biased yank synopsis at v=u5_gnXrnrRI.
Watch the full 2 Hours and 12 minutes before doing as the religious do - forming rash irrational conclusions !!
tellnet 1 month ago
@tellnet
What I mean by winning the debate, I do not mean in a subjective sense, I mean in verdicts released by people, critiques and essays referring to the debate. Secondly the theist who I suggested won the debate against Hitchens is clearly more intelligent than the theists that call 'The Atheists Experience'. My point being is I personally think religion is ridiculous and filled with holes and flaws...however - just to point it out - there are intelligent theists out there.
danutcase66 1 month ago
... continuation...
W. L. Craig is not intelligent, in actuality.
Relatively, dare I say with self (IQ 160), he is a half-wit.
There is no such thing as an intelligent theist.
IQ is composed of a number of elements - individuals who cling to irrational beliefs may well be eloquently loquacious (and exude apparent intelligence), but they are far from intellectually endowed.
tellnet 1 month ago
@tellnet
That is wise, don't you agree?
danutcase66 4 weeks ago
@danutcase66
Not necessarily.
I value no-one's opinion ..

Dawkins himself in video on here called 'The Four Horsesmen' (Watch it if you haven't already) said this: "I was having an argument with a very sophisticated biologist who’s a brilliant expositor of evolution, and he still believes in God. And I said how can you? What’s this all about? And he said I accept all your rational arguments, however it’s faith. And then he said this very significant phrase to me: “There’s a reason that it’s called faith!”. I am an athist btw.
danutcase66 4 weeks ago
@danutcase66
Yes, I know of the individual Dawkins refers to.
Dawkins quite correctly stated that such was an abhorrent waste of a good intellect, and that the individual concerned is an IDIOT.
(Look that up - don't believe me without questioning !)
tellnet 4 weeks ago

Referencing the opinions of others - rather than viewing the debate in it's entirety - and forming your own - is a "sin" unworthy of comment. In fact, such would be "normal" behaviour for a godly individual - for such is the essence of their clingings.
Intelligent theists ??
How one views the intelligence of another is often relative rather than actual.
A moron with an IQ of 80 might view another moron with an IQ of 90 as being "intelligent".

Regards
1Skeptik1 2 months ago
@1Skeptik1 The Jews are right in which way?
And yeah of course there's a chance that I'm wrong. If I was to say God is 100% real because I say so, then that sounds kind of foolish, no? But the thing is, I don't think I'm wrong. Just like the majority of Atheists probably don't think they're wrong. It all falls back to what happens when we die and I truly believe that arguments will never cease until that day comes... :S
KeusFrench 2 months ago
@KeusFrench Jews right? The bible tells us those that knew Jesus best (Jewish community including family) saw nothing extraordinary in him. Paul, his greatest promoter never met the man. Man has long demonstrated great imagination, worshipped hundreds of "GODS" now considered tribal folk lore. Maybe "GOD" spoke to Abraham, when that happens today we call it schizophrenia. A quote from Seneca - Religion is true to the common man, false to the wise man, useful to the politician. Regards
1Skeptik1 2 months ago
@1Skeptik1 I completely disagree. Jesus' own disciples thought the man was amazing. Paul advocated Jesus' authority and teachings everywhere. There were so many people who thought he was amazing. And people still think that today.
God can talk to people. It doesn't matter what quote you write down. It isn't a disease nor sickness.
KeusFrench 2 months ago
@KeusFrench I enjoyed the exchange, always willing to hear an oposing position. That said it seems we are back to where we began, the question of a willingness to believe in magic, events (miracles) contrary to the world as we understand it today. In defending such a position a close friend once said, "Things were different back then", perhaps, but as for being probable? Regards
1Skeptik1 2 months ago
@1Skeptik1 Miracles happen. To doubt their validity is to be ignorant or to simply claim that it happened because of 'science' or 'the doctors' curing it. But there are cases where doctors have admitted to NOT knowing how the patient was cured.
And yes, you could also say that the persons body healed itself by natural causes. But those 'natural causes' were designed by a creator. If there isn't a creator then how could one say that humans heal naturally? Because nature has to begin somewhere.
KeusFrench 2 months ago
@KeusFrench You are going in circles in an ignorant attempt to fit god in the gaps where science can't find absolute answers.
It's just absurd. There is 0 evidence of anything happening that doesn't follow natural order and the laws of reality, ever. Just because the laws of nature and universe are there, that is no reason to believe they had to be designed by intelligence, it's an assumption you make to justify unprovable claims from books written by people who did the exact same thing
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
@KeusFrench In the days of the first ideas about god they used deities to explain everything. What is the sun, what are the stars, what is the moon, why are they moving around the earth, why do bad things happen (cause we don't pray), why do good things happen (cause we prayed really hard), all of this stuff is attributable to explaining the unexplainable by injecting a god. Things don't work like that, we look at reality and form logical conclusions, this is how rational people think and learn.
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
Show me something that proves even one miracle happened. It can't be somebody getting better, people just get better.
When somebody dies, what do you say? You say that their death is a natural result of something that happened to them. But boom, when someone was sick and then it looks like they're healed, that's where you can claim that god intervened and saved someone. He didn't design us, why would he design things like HIV, parasitic worms, viruses, bacteria, if he loved humans? Truly evil.
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
@KeusFrench If god designed the universe then he created a truly screwed up and evil system.
He knows what you will do before you're born, he knows if you have the capacity to look at the evidence of holy books and accept them without thinking about their claims, he knows all of this. He creates us with free will, gives us the intelligence to reject absurd ideas without evidence, and then punishes us for eternity for not believing, while continuing to allow suffering and death on earth? WTF?!?!
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
@MrAgentGreeny He knows what you'll do before you're born. Yes. He gave us free will, yah. He gave us the intelligence we have to QUESTION things, and rightfully so, and to accept that which we deem to be best suited to our understanding.
If you truly understood even the smallest fraction of how loving Jesus was, you'd want to follow Him. The problem is that oftentimes people put God out of there minds because then they'd have to act a certain way. If you only gave Him a chance you'd WANT that.

@1Skeptik1 I've never heard of the miracles you've mentioned but perhaps you have heard of the miracle of the Loretto Chapel Staircase.

And no I do not believe in every single 'acclaimed miracle'. That would be ignorance on my part. But there are a few that I cannot logically nor rationally deny, though the staircase breaks both those with its mystery.
KeusFrench 2 months ago

KeusFrench 2 months ago

This 'James Randi', whom I know nothing of, by the way, cannot possibly accept this claim from anyone as technically no one made this happen except the mysterious carpenter who constructed this and then left.

so I agree, you have an example of a miracle, worthy of head lines world

not to mention every physics professor in the world) If not you are sold

@1Skeptik1 KeusFrench is correct when it comes to scripture, the Christian Gospels don't support what you are tryng to extrapolate from them.
Konicava 3 months ago
@Konicava I am fully aware of William Lane Craig, He beat Sam Harris in a debate so I'm assuming you are superior to Sam Harris when it comes to debating. You cannot say that you are less ignorant compared to William Lane Craig because he is not a young earth creationist, he uses every scientific study that you use, he does not reject evolution either. the only point where you and him differ is in your evidence based speculations. What data are you aware of that he is unnaware of?
HebrewTiger 3 months ago
@HebrewTiger Beat Sam Harris on a debate? Who decided that, catholic nuns? I don't agree with any argument that fucktard uses, at all. To me religion can be refuted by using jokes, simple jokes. You heard that one about the missionary and the eskimos? Its great.
I tought I was debating an atheist, which clearly you're not just by noticing your conservative views on it, pretend its all a lie and watch that same fucking debate again, you'll see Craig never won a debate in his life.
Konicava 3 months ago
@Konicava No the amount of arguments conceded decides who won the debate, Sam Harris refused to engage Craigs case arguments therefore conceded the points. Tally up the overall arguments and you will find craig engaged all points harris made that were on the debate topic, Then tally up all of Craigs arguments that Harris refused to engage and you have your result. Clear victory to Craig. do you not know how to judge a debate?
HebrewTiger 3 months ago
@HebrewTiger Not when you talk a lot of bullCRAP, then you lose.
Konicava 3 months ago
@Konicava Mhm Harris did talk alot of that I agree with you, he conceded every premise and conclusion craig stood by, refused to challenge his arguments and lost the debate.
HebrewTiger 3 months ago
@HebrewTiger He is right and Craig is wrong. It makes no difference how many points Craig asserted, he was basing it off a fundamentally flawed view of the world, faith. His faith and your faith are the excuse people give each other to believe things without evidence. Atheism is just the noises reasonable people make when confronted with the patently ridiculous claims made by theists. Every one is different, and do you honestly believe that every other belief on earth is wrong except for yours?
MrAgentGreeny 3 months ago
@MrAgentGreeny My evidence based faith is nothing like william lane craigs 'reasonable faith'. I am not a christian nor do I belong to any religion. Atheists have just as much faith in the universe as Theists. you have faith that logic is sound, you have faith that you are not plugged into a fabricated matrix of reality, you have faith that people love you like your girlfriend and family, you have faith that the food is not poisoned when eating out, faith that your 5 senses are accurate.
HebrewTiger 2 months ago
@MrAgentGreeny There is nothing you know that isn't faith based apart from the fact that "Things" exist, that you can be absolute in. everything else is based off of your sensory perception of logic, every single thing you think you know about the universe is based on degrees of evidence based faith, mathematics is the only field of absolutes and that is an abstract field. The conclusions I have come to are based on reducing fallacy within philosophical reasoning, yet i still know it's all faith
HebrewTiger 2 months ago
@HebrewTiger Do you believe in leprechauns? Do you have faith they exist?
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
@MrAgentGreeny Show me some evidence to support them existing and I will consider it.
HebrewTiger 2 months ago
@HebrewTiger So show me some evidence to support god existing and I will consider it.
I will demand the same degree of evidence as the leprechaun claim, not a book that says god exists, not someone who says they saw god. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence, and if you have to take it on "faith", that's why you believe things that you have no evidence for. You can add all the philosophical reasoning you want, but there's no reason to believe in god apart from old books.
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago
@MrAgentGreeny What books? Who said I belong to any religion, I was an Atheist longer than you have been alive, I came to believe in a creator strictly through philosophical reasoning, and scientific study of the universe. If you do not come to the same conclusions as I did, that's not my problem, 2 people can view the same thing, and then come up with 2 completely different conclusions. All of the evidence points towards an eternal creative source, in my conclusions.
HebrewTiger 2 months ago
@HebrewTiger OK just explain how you came to that conclusion, why there has to be a creator, and why the creator doesn't need to be created. I don't think you will be able to explain either.
MrAgentGreeny 2 months ago

To be fair, she says that the person said "ignorant Theists"; not "ignorant Christians", and then she goes on to focus on ignorant Christians.
It would be fun if they occasionally took some time to focus on ignorant Muslims as well.
SinnFein4ever 3 months ago
@SinnFein4ever Maybe that's because they live a an overwhelmingly Christian country, where Muslims are unlikely to call in?
Also, nice username, plastic paddy. I suppose it's easy to support terrorism when you don't have to deal with it.

the first time that God says anything about practicing under false Gods. It made me feel like God is insecure, I am not impressed by an insecure God........you are GOD, if you are truly God then obviously people will know of you and praise you without question right, so where is this insecurity coming from? Esspecially if you don't seem to bare any other "negative" attributes that "ale" humans...so I'm just not impressed.
devileye669 4 months ago

Maybe that's pretty much what's out there!
Cootabux 5 months ago
@Cootabux
You need to ask that? They're ALREADY deceiving themselves pretty damn bad. It's not a giant leap for them to do so concerning the history of the religion.

That hardly constitutes a loving relationship in my book.
His attitude is indistinguishable from that of a complete stranger,
one that I have never seen at that.
One would expect more from a supernatural being.
One would expect much more from god.

@mrmonnet You don't need to believe in a god to have hope in life.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney So what's your hope?
mrmonnet 5 months ago
@mrmonnet Same as everyone else's; that people will stop killing each other, that my children live long happy peaceful lives, that my sister defeats her difficulties, that I am a good father, that my wife knows how much I love her. Stuff like that. Not believing in god is, I feel, irrelevant. My belief that there is no afterlife has meaning only in that it adds to the joy of being alive. You don't need to believe in a god to have hope in life.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney Sad life bro. My uncle used to tell me that he is 50 years old and hes amazed at how fast those 50 went. Life is short and it goes fast. I'm so glad I have a hope for something after this life is over. I'll pray for you bro.
mrmonnet 5 months ago
@mrmonnet Why on earth would you think I need praying for? I'm sure you mean well, but I assure you that there is nothing sad about my life, and I certainly do not need you to pray for me. In doing so, you will be forcing your opinion on me. Do you think that's acceptable? Personally, I believe that it is the religious who live sad lives, promised an afterlife that does not exist. Do you think it's acceptable for me to force that opinion on you? I doubt it. So, please, don't pray for me.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney That's what you don't understand!! I'm not talking about religion!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm talking about a personal relationship with the Creator of the universe!
I'm commanded to pray not only for you but for all those that don't know the truth. And the truth is there is one God and one Mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus!
mrmonnet 5 months ago
@mrmonnet You're not talking about truth mrmonnet; you're talking about belief. I'm sure it seems true to you, but that doesn't make it so.

mrmonnet 5 months ago
@mrmonnet There are four critical words missing from the beginning of your last post, mrmonnet. They are "in my personal opinion". I don't believe in the christian concept of sin. So what you're really doing here is forcing your views on me. Again.
itsallepidemicrodney 5 months ago
@itsallepidemicrodney Not forcing them, just asking you to consider them. Just like these guys are doing with atheism. Fall back!

@mrmonnet you mean the guy who tells slaves to honor their masters, especially if their masters are christian ?
To be honest, there is no reason to believe this man ever existed, and certainly not in the form written in the NT.
ExcaliburClan 4 months ago
@ExcaliburClan Yes sir.. Well Paul actually wrote that but I believe it. He's not concerned with the earthly, 60-70 years at best is the human lifespan, hes concerned with eternity. If your drawn to him it becomes very clear that this life and everything in it is temporal. God bless
mrmonnet 4 months ago
@mrmonnet ofc if he doesnt exists, he would also not be concerned with the earthly.
But imagine this, when you die you will rot in your grave and earthworms will eat your corpse clean, and your only life will have been wasted imagining things that turned out to be false. Wouldnt that be a waste ?
ExcaliburClan 4 months ago
@ExcaliburClan Ahhh, but imagine I'm right and you burn, as well as all your loved ones, forever because you rejected the gospel. And they look at you and you regret FOREVER that you didn't accept Christ.
I on the other hand if I'm wrong bc I lived for Christ i don't become a drunk, i don't get AIDS,i have a wonderful marriage bc me and my spouse serve Christ, i don't end up in prison (unless its for Christ sake) and I die and its over, yet i still lived a pretty great life.
mrmonnet 4 months ago
@mrmonnet then provide the evidence for you being right - the bible itself is not valid evidence, because frankly it sucks, there is no test to see there even is a god, even less so that he provides a heaven after you die where you can spend an eternity counting perals at the gate. Mental patient make claims of similar magnitute as you do.
Christians are overrepresented in jail, did you know this? And that applies for pretty much every country in the whole world.
ExcaliburClan 4 months ago

ExcaliburClan 4 months ago
Yet if you're wrong you really screwed up. Think about it.
mrmonnet 4 months ago
@mrmonnet what if the correct god is Allah ? Then you are screwed aswell. How do you select wich of all gods are the true one ? Is it Zeus, Thor, Odin, Zuhl, Bahl, Mithra, Kahli. How do you determine what imagination is true ?
Not all religions can be right, but they can all be wrong. And since the evidence for all of them is lacking, it is likely they are also all wrong.

@mrmonnet one word: REALITY. Find out about it, why it is better than delusion and religion, and why god is an immoral asshole who should be shot, if he hadnt been the invention of humans.

@mrmonnet Jesus saves us by sacrificing himself for man's sins.
I don't know about you, but I believe that scapegoating, or transferring your sins onto someone else, is a completely immoral concept. No court in any civilized nation would allow scapegoating,
