@jimbrown257 Very true. I don't ever remember a Dead show for free but let's face it the Dead aren't the Stones. The Stones are truely an original always setting the trend. Everyone else plays for second place as far as I'm concerned.

You know what's so ironic about the Stones doing a free concert? Bands like The Byrds and The Dead were considered the peace and love guys doing it for the people and not the money whereas The Stones were considered the bad boys. But here we have Mick and Co. busting their sacks to put on this free show, completely unconcerned with making money, while the Dead wouldn't even get out of the bus until they had been paid in full.

I think what would be monumentally cool is that the Rollings Stones should go back to Altamont today and do ANOTHER free concert. But this time do it right. With state of the are staging, sound and lighting and broadcasted live over TV and the internet. Real concert security and organization. Then they should pay tribute on the big screen to the people who lost their lives there for whatever reason. I think this would give closure to the situation and just really be cool and well broadcasted.
