Hey you wont ever read this im guessing but i have been trying to learn some quick licks that I can tie together in this style and your videowas exactly what I needed to get over the hump i have been in.
So just know your helping other people immensely. Thanks
Cool. You say: "Im gonna use this software's slow motion feature". What software is that? I work as a guitar teacher as well, and is curious bout what You use? It looks great.
Great vid! It took me about 2 or 3 times of watchin' this video but i finally got it! Learning this lick opened a whole new door for me. I could do a lot more stuff on guitar after learning this! Thanks a lot!
P.S. Could you twll me what kind of guitar you're usin' for this vid? Thanks!
man, how do u get that tone?? that just makes my ears cum, what kind of pickups do u use? texas special? if i get them, i'll be able to sound like that?
Actually I was having a bad day and regretted the comment straight away. I liked your video and I had no right to be mean to someone who has gone the extra yard to help people with the gift of music. I apologize.
@ItsEvanful Biggest upgrades you can give to a mexican strat are some high-end pickups, and heavier strings (.11's), not to mention tuning down 1/2 step. Of those, high-end pickups (think Fralin's or equivalent) are probably the most noticeable upgrade.
For the left hand that lesson is awesome and thank you for that, but for the right hand, I have some trouble to undestand everything :(, is it all downpicking (except 2 or 3 times) ? thx
anythony man you should do a full lesson on this song, how to play it start to finish. Even make it a premium lesson if you want, id gladly buy it. its one of my favorites
Stevie never died. He just quit, got his voice changed, and started doing videos on youtube. Wanna know how I know? I'm watching him! Great lesson! Your tone is amazing and your playing is spot on! :)
Thanks for the lesson! That lick is insane!!! Is it true that .11 gauge strings put more pressure on the truss rod and can damage it, or the neck? And do you get more tone out of .11's than .10's? Thanks again!!
@B2Rockin Yes. That's why I tune down 1/2 step. But even still the truss rod should be adjusted to compensate for the extra tension. As for tone, I think .11s sound much more different than .10s compared to the difference between .11s and .12s.
@gr8bluesgtr woowww how could you possibly bend those strings they look like ropes !!! i realy can not play higher than .9's ! i have a question , do fenders sound better with higher gauges 10's , 11's (i play lead mostly) ? tanx .
Dude 11's have been killing my fingers! lol putting holes in them, but I have to admit my fingertips are getting hard as a rock, and when I switched to .10's they felt like fishing wire!
Do they give you a better tone? I've never researched string types and gauges, i've used ernie ball .11's and Daddario XL .10's, the .11's sounded good, but the .10's are more delightful to play ;)
I find the difference between .10 and .11 to be huge. Especially when you drop to Eb tuning with .11s. The difference between .11 and .12 is nice, but it comes at the expense of greater finger wear.
Great as always Anthony. What pickups are you using these days, and have you tried the Duncan Antiquities? I have heard great things about them. I am having a dilemma on my American Std with the pickups. I have Dimarzios Area 61, 67, 58 in it now, aned I don't like them at all. Not the SRV tone I am looking for.
Hey Anthony a little request can u teach the SRV style slides. like after the licks he does a wicked slide on the top three strings or at least that's what it looks like
I'm fortunate enough to be able to use a program called "Final Cut Pro" for editing these lessons now, and it has some audio effects that allow me to shift the pitch back up to the same tuning after slowing down the video. This is the reason I never used it before, because the audio would always get screwed up before I got the new software.
Hey Anothony great lesson! The slow motion feature is awesome too. Would you ever feel like doing a lesson on the rakes you do into some of those bends. I think it is a right hand technique but I either end up muting all the strings or have strings I dont want to ring ring out. Thanks
