  • Absolutely light years ahead of any other DJ at the time. Groundbreaking would be an understatement. No-one came close to this guy's style or technique.

  • Weird thing, Steve told me that they didn't even place him in the top 3 this battle !!??

  • TO THE CAT THAT SAID Q-BERT MADE STEVE SWEAT BOMBS-U SHOULD HAVE WATCHED THE BATTLESOUNDS DOCUMENTARY-Q-BERT SAID SOMETHING DIFFERENT.FROM WHAT I KNOW HE HAD HIM SWEATING AND THOUGHT STEVE HAD WON IT.GET THE BATTLESOUNDS DOCUMENTARY AND WATCH!!!

  • So many styles in one set.

  • the truth,pioneer..

  • OMG!

  • wow steve d is still so good !

    he changed things

where s the dmc of him doing his blind alleys though???

  • THIS DUDE I CAN SAY REALLY FLIPPED THE DJ WORLD ON ITS EAR-HE REALLY MADE U LISTEN TO THE MUSIC.THIS IS LITERALLY REMIXING A RECORD RITE BEFORE YOUR EYES.HONESTLY HE SHOULD HAVE WON THIS!!!! THE SET WAS FLAWLESS-WHO THE HECK WAS JUDGING THAT NITE?????

  • haha that routine could still kill it today!

  • 2010... still dope juggle

  • off the hook!

  • Steve would win the DMC in 2010 with this set

  • epic !!!

    big up for D !!!

  • this was 1990, dudes been copying this style for the last 19 years

  • considering the fact that this is 1990 no one has ever reached him. this is outstanding!

  • word! dope

  • this can NOT be done on Serato! RESPECT!!!

  • why not?

  • sorry to break it to you buddy, but yes, this can be recreated on serato.

  • @Scofopolis I will wait to see your video responce!

I have played on Serato for over 5 years. Though it is small there is too much of a delay to keep the rythem when it gets to the beat juggling! I would love to see YOU prove me wrong.

  • @djtechsupport if there is to much delay, then you either have a slow processor or your check your settings in serato...

    good luck

  • Classic moment in hip hop. Serious milestone.

  • this was a pioneering performance at that moment... a classic

  • OMG!!! here 1:00 n goin on~~~~!~!~!~!~

  • HEZ A PLAYA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Damn, that was really clean. Really clean. Motivates me big time.

  • ye wanny invest in some lynx man:L!

  • so cool

  • you sweatin me LOL

  • who said he was dead?

  • he was most def ahead of his time!

  • Yeah...that contest he had EVERYONE SHOOK!!!! Not one of the DJs in the contest knew what the fck just happened.

  • Someone please tell me what song this is!!!!

  • come on now...."i know you got soul"...erib b and rakim......basic hip-hop record.....

  • dope

  • i know he had SO much fun with the 2 live crew back in the days. good stuff

  • whats more amazing is that he doesnt have the tables setup up battle style

  • !st thing i noticed mate.. how the fuck those needles arent flying everywhere is beyond me : )

Top vid, Cheers for the up!

  • @tableturns77 exactly, I tried and hit the arm every time LOL

  • Thank you Thank you. Thank god for Youtube. I've been looking for this for 16 years. Seriously. i remember seeing this. Back in like 92. I used to have this hole battle on vhs. Diz-ope!

  • lol look at the head movement and his face from 01 to 02 mad funny, but he killed this routine

  • ---dope--

  • fuck yeah thats tight

  • Fuckin history in the makin right there

  • Steve Dee is one of the greatest to ever do it with two turntables and a mixer... Period, There should be no more discussions.

  • This is a classic but can someone please put the whole routine up on here, this aint even half of it ! Also has anyone got the 1990 us finals vid ? He's on that aswell still cant work out why he lost to baby g IN 1990 he quite rightly deserved to win! fuck all the body tricks everyone was doing back then !!!!

  • yeah body tricks was funny. The funniest "trick" I saw was a dude using a pool stick to scratch lol.

  • THE BEST.

  • again . . . ISP won this one! QBert made this guy sweat mad bombs.

  • ^^^ wtf are you talking about.....stereve dee didnt even compete against ISP!! YOUR A FOOL HOMEY!!

  • Actualy, he did. You see, both him and Q-bert are founders of their teams so eventually, you can say it was X-Men vs. Invinsibl Skratch Piklz.

  • but at that time Raider was leading the X Men

  • How was Raida leading the X-Men when he would always be at Steve's crib practicing on Steve's decks!?! Steve was the leader because everyone meet up with him since he was the hottest back then. Not to mention the first to win a World title. Raida was looked at because people wanted to see a Teen get busy like the heavy hitters.

  • load Q bert's '90 routine so everyone can see him making Steve "sweat bombs"

  • hahahahahahahahahaha!

  • Talk about being light years ahead of your time and innovative. When everyone was doing body tricks and flashing as fast as possible this dude was analytical enough to step back and think, why don't i make real music on beat? This was back in 1991! Steve Dee doesn't get enough props.

  • agree

  • ^^FOOL!

  • i was replying to djbiskit FOOL!

  • DUDE, I WAS TALKING TO xmensuckballs

  • Yeah he was the best beat juggler and inventor

  • prolly one of the best juggles of all time.. this is just ridiculous!! steve d for president!

  • man,

    mad props to STEVE-D!

    that's just plain sick.

  • ALL house dj's should watch thins video. It should come free with every pair of decks. The world would be a better place.

  • you are looking at the innovator and master of beat juggling. this man is the father of beat juggling as we know it today. this technique used to be called flippin'. fear the master.

  • someone put up the blind alley routine he did !!!!pleaseeeee!!!

  • If DJ MAGIC MIKE would've entered, He would've been world champion. I wish he had the video when he was crossing the fader "blindfolded". I'm sure Dj Craze would've remembered.

  • Have you seen the video? The way he just stopped was weird. I don't hink he's even fucked up. He just stopped, as if it was planned.

  • bugstrut you are a fuckin moron

  • I think he stopped with two or three minutes still to go. I don't know why this was. Maybe he didn't have anymore tricks, and had planned to stop. An appearance on a DMC video is pretty valuable to a DJ, so maybe he'd decided to turn up anyway, just to get on the video for a second year in a row.

  • i was always puzzled why Steve D didn't place in that battle! his routines were flawless and innovative.

  • Steve-D was the original

  • shit was mad sick

  • That title might actually belong to DJ Aladdin. Check the vid of him at the New Music Seminar, back in '89, here on Youtube.

  • no it was steve d

  • The father of beatjuggling

  • Was this taken from the actual 1991 DMC U.S. Final vid? If so, when did you get it? DMC U.K. haven't sold it for at least the last 10 years, so I've never actually seen it.

  • The best beat juggler of his time!

  • Steve D's the shit

  • aiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight nice dope shit
