How about a fresh pair of socks? Like some G.I. socks. Because if your stuck outside your most likely going to have something like boots or shoes, dirty socks can lead to fungal infection and incapacitate your ability to walk or run.
RADIOS-2WAY... CONDENSATION in "Water-Proof" Bags KILLS ELECTRONIC DEVICES ! ! ! --- DAMMED, Tell People to use "Moisture Absorbsion" Silica packs --- Cheap on Amazon.
I have a lot of what you have in your bag, I have got some things you might consider using though. Climbing rope, seat harness and absailing tool + caribinas. It takes a lot of room and the rope is heavy but I think it is worth it. You can get anywhere with it. Cooking pots are something you need too. A notepad and pen to take notes. I also got myself a solar panel to charge my iphone off that way I get GPS, compass and maps all rolled into one (I don't use it as a primary though)
I keep all my spare close in a dry bag. I also carry a boonie hat and many knifes. Also bug spray or even a thermacell. I also have survival bracelets on me when I'm out
An idea that just struck me as a signalling device:
I heard firefighters have a "panic button" device they carry before they go into a burning building. If they get trapped and cut off from radio, they can activate the device and it lets out an extremely loud siren noise, so that his buddies can find him. It could be good to have, if you need more volume than a whistle can provide.
If its really expensive and heavy though I wouldn't bother with it.
On the 100 mph tape, what I do with mine is set it under the corner of your desk or a file cabinet. You don't lose any adhesive by re-wrapping it around the credit card. After you mash it down you can take a box knife and cut the cardboard out and stick the inner portion together.
Awesome survival pack, very complete and thorough. Hey, hope you got a nail clipper! Long toe nails can be pretty uncomfortable. What's this bag model number and what its cubic space?? It's amazing the amount of stuff you hold in it.
nicely thought out. I would also add dental floss. It's 36 yds worth of cordage. If you take the floss out of the case then the spool is no bigger than a sewing bobber. Also I have a 12' X 18' plastic painters tarp in my kit, which in its package takes up very little space.
Great video, I would recommend some wire in your kit. Heck of a lot of uses for wire. You can pick a small roll at a hardware store. Usually called plumbers or carpenters wire.
carry one or more reflective vest's i do use two militairy uniforms when go out and survival and whit one of those reflective vest's you don't have to use a light or whatever to be found it 's lightweight and very handy
@1groenepanter why would you want to use your real kit ya you need to practice with everything and know how to use and know where it is but dont take ur real bob out in the woods and loose shit.. take ur every day use survival pack with with u
Lots of zip lock bags + garbage bags ....agree lots of uses. i like at least 3 of the large garbage bags. good for things like the obvious ie carrying water. but also make good emergency waterproof/windproof bivoucs/poncho/tent. staying dry = staying alive. i don't think u missed anything. nice video.
Have you tested this kit out yet. just your backpack asnd whats in it and nothing else/ i tried mine i got 8 days easily, Maybe throw a tent and/or sleeping bag on the side of it thats what i did.
I hope this doesn't sound like a stupid question but..... does no one bring a tent? Is a tent too big to carry or just not considered a must have? I would think a tent would be nice to stay out of the rain.
I either read or saw in one of his later videos that he uses his army issued poncho as a tent. Actually, it worked fairly well as a tent and served dual purposes. I would be more comfortable with a tent that has all 4 sides enclosed so rain or wind wont blow in from the ends but if that's all you have or space is paramount and there's just no room for a tent, his idea was a very good one. Now, I'd like to know where he got that canteen that is also a cooking stove!
No what is was is, a metal canteen, that slipped into a metal sleeve and they both slipped into a container with a collapsable handle that could be used to boil water in or whatever. The metal sleeve is called a windscreen ( I think ) and you just build your little fire inside that windscreen that surrounds it. Then, you place the metal container on top of the little windscreen and presto! you have a stove. I guess if you had to , you could fry something in it too. It was cool.
@kysmik a tarp or a poncho is weighs less and the poncho and tarp are both more compact depending on the size. and the bother have many more uses than just shelter.
A lot of good info there. Thanks. Only thing I would change is to ditch those AA Alkaline batteries you have and buy some Lithium ones. They weigh a fair share less, are more powerful, and the shelf life is upwards of a decade.
I love the nails though, I wouldn't have thought of that.
One thing that bothered me in the vid was Ur marine camo blouse, if Ur gunna roll the sleeves up, make sure u roll them up passed the elbow, ima soon to be marine and my dad was a sgt maj but great video it'll come in handy for my 2012 survival group supplies lol
all my emergency food are tasty (jerkey, vitamins, candy) so I deplete them every 2 weeks. This is a good idea to keep in mind because you'll refresh your food supply and keep them up to date. I can eat anything so no point in bringing "emergency" food that tastes awful.
my survival pack is packed in an ALICE rucksack and i (just my preference) carry a hatchet and just slide it down some of the anchor points along the side of my pack. with all those molle attatchment points im sure you could do the same. a hatchet (again in my opinion) is a more efficient way to cut down and split firewood while burning less calories and energy than a saw. great video. 5/5
One down fall I have seen in EVERY single video is LACK OF FOOD. Candy is not food. Energy bars are a mirage. Anything that has artificial sugar only gives a temporary boost followed by depletion. There are long term, high protein and carbohydrate solutions that are light weight, small and have a shelf life lasting years. Large Flake Oatmeal with dried fruit and nuts can sustain you for 10 days and take up the space of your medical bag. Lentils = high in protein, Rice = long term storage.
I'm surprised we didn't see any heavy metal fishing leader's ... great to fish with and use as snares as well. You may cover this in the next installments but I wold have expected something more on pack in food, like flour or some such pre-mix.
Great video, good review, I like most of your ideas...one thing I would add, and this is just my preference. I would take a lot of your little items and contain them in one bag. I saw you had some of your stuff in smaller bags, but I would put almost everything into smaller bags. It helps keep everything organized, easier to find, and easier to carry...again nice review.

The things like a sewing kit were things that I didn't think of, but I do have one suggestion. And that would be simply cardboard strips and some lubrication oil for the metalworks
Dude you forgot one major thing if i am correct, EXTRA CLOTHS. I think that a good heavy pair of pants and shirt should live in your bag. Keeping warm is imperative in the cold. I suggest this because you may not always have time to pack these things.
PS the nails were a great idea. I would never have thought of that!
First off GREAT video! Thank you for taking the time to make it. How about a mini can of WD40? It has many uses such as gun / blade care as well as fire starting fuel. It would be really helpful if you mentioned the brand names of all of your survival items as you pull them out of your pack. Example being the fish bait, some of the food items, large zip bags. Thanks again for the great tips!
you need bug spray and an axe and for the plastic bag you can make a water collection device and put it around a bush and after a wile you will get water its true i did it
Bravo! I'm a graduate of S.E.R.E. school and have been in survival situations. man, you are squared away. I have seen several of these vids of go to hell packs, and though it's personal preference, they pack a survival bag like a mission ruck. I like how you keep it light, have dedicated pockets, waterproof your kit, and you pack SOCKS...If you don't take care of your feet, you're as good as done. I like the "smoke grenade" as well in case you can't build a quick signal fire. All bases covered.
thank you for taking the time to make this video. you included several items that I have not consitered. I am a novice to the idea of survival packs and your video has been a great resource.
Question --- Right after the large Zip Locks You pulled out a box of military something, but I couldn’t make it out… I am a veteran (Army) as well, but could not recognize the military package or see the writing. Granted, I have been out for quite some time…
I just want you to know, I am taking notes on your video for help as I build my Bug-Out-Bag…
As I said on another video… Thank You For Your Service…
Thanx for posting! my suggestions = skin stapler (instead of sutures, way easier & faster) along with topicaine (so you cant feel the staples going in you) lightweight bungee cord (from ACE hardware) is a nice addition. Fine ground red pepper (incase your being tracked by dogs - gets in their nose and messes them up bad!) some extra ammo, mini tobasco sauce, "off" whipes. Vicoden, benedryl, & morphine. Peace brother!
in my pack i carry some pre ground coffee just in case i would need a boost in the mornings and it feels nice to have something else then water every now n then. i also cary some other pwdered drink mixes to add more calories to my meals
in my humble opinion, the zip ties you use might be too short in most situations, 2inches more would be more practical. i use them to atatch poles together or mount a tarp quickly in strong winds. i just use it when i'm in a hurry ;)
I love your videos!!! I wish you would do one on how to make a cheap or free kit for every one in the family... I dont think it would be so hard to make out of stuff you have like kitchen knives etc... could you PLEASE show us?
i personaly would have had at least two ramon noodle packages, and cook set a small one for your tab stove and a cheap walmart poncho for a ground cover or if your using the other one as shelter. thank you soo much for all your series and helpful info and keep em comin

Don't forget about protective glasses there, there's nothin more worse than a branch or foriegn debris in the eye when you're out in the bush,..No doc, so you're pretty much screwed !!! I know you have a great pack collection,I have a great collection myself,i'm modifying one of my CFP-90's to an external frame for more capabilities...Nice vid there Pack Rat 556 !!!
im "guessing" its because since these bags are for emergency, it might be hard to take a sleeping bag, and in an emergency, the space blankets will probaly suffice.
Ok I didn't see the part 5 video until after I posted, my mistake lol . That's a good survival kit you have. What are your views on the Henry survival rifle? It's fairly light 2.5lbs and is very colapsable would you include it in a pack like this?
What is that black handle on the right side? Is it his knife or machete? Because I was staring at that thing for all four of the videos wondering what it is.
I have watched alot of your videos really good and thorough. I noticed you don't have a hand crank radio or flashlight. You would be less dependent on the batteries and could have a flashlight for life
Well Done as Always!!! Water..? Didn't see any.. Knife..Is it a Glock? Have you considered a video on true "Bugging Out Gear"? Leaving home permanently-No vehicle..Boot Leather Only.. Maybe you'll give it thought. Its what I plan for with my "Go Bag". Best Always =)
can you make a video on everything that you have im trying to nake a really good pack of everything that i need and it would really help me out thanks
the way you store your batteries is prone to having them drain out their power by touching eachother. I'd suggest taping up at least the contacts, best would be to keep batteries in their original packaging if possible.
Thats no doubt the safest way to ensure that your pack items stay dry is to keep all of them in plactic bags. I know that fire lighting essentials is very important to protect. Have you ever just considered just using a pack rain cover when it does rain or in high humid areas, to put over your backpack, to simplify? Thanks for sharing your ideas. Your videos are well made above average. Thats why I subscribed.
sandals - I keep a pair of tevas in my bug out\hiking bag. They're light, cheap and most importantly they are what you need if you are going to cross water. Nothing is worse than humping in wet socks and boots.
dude i found out from one of the stockers that work in my store that if you take a knife to the cardboard in the center of the duct tape and remove it you can flatten the roll to a more compact size.
solar battery aa charger..oh ipod with all the best movies cause the camelot charger does usb...of course kodak zk1 with a hole lot of memory to record the disaster for youtube..if u make it..peace and good luck to us all...

All bases covered.

would you ever go for carrying an MRE on you when go ?

3. extra sunglasses.
4. light cooking pot.

Thanks for sharing. Another suggestion is to keep some bug spray in your pack just to keep the bugs off you so you're more comfortable.

I know you have a great pack collection,I have a great collection myself,i'm modifying one of my CFP-90's to an external frame for more capabilities...Nice vid there Pack Rat 556 !!!

how come no one ever has a sleeping bag!?
ninjapunk200 1 year ago
@ninjapunk200
im "guessing" its because since these bags are for emergency, it might be hard to take a sleeping bag, and in an emergency, the space blankets will probaly suffice.
but i bet someone out there has it like that

Ok I didn't see the part 5 video until after I posted, my mistake lol . That's a good survival kit you have. What are your views on the Henry survival rifle? It's fairly light 2.5lbs and is very colapsable would you include it in a pack like this?
135092 2 years ago
What is that black handle on the right side? Is it his knife or machete? Because I was staring at that thing for all four of the videos wondering what it is.

I have watched alot of your videos really good and thorough. I noticed you don't have a hand crank radio or flashlight. You would be less dependent on the batteries and could have a flashlight for life

the way you store your batteries is prone to having them drain out their power by touching eachother. I'd suggest taping up at least the contacts, best would be to keep batteries in their original packaging if possible.
Nice vid.
masterdurchgriff 2 years ago 5
Thats no doubt the safest way to ensure that your pack items stay dry is to keep all of them in plactic bags. I know that fire lighting essentials is very important to protect. Have you ever just considered just using a pack rain cover when it does rain or in high humid areas, to put over your backpack, to simplify? Thanks for sharing your ideas. Your videos are well made above average. Thats why I subscribed.

What also helps is a compact hammock- keeps you off the ground from the creepy crawlers and is comfortable to sleep in!
U2Bdewd 2 years ago
yeah, hammock+mosquito tent+tarp over top is the best/easiest/fastest way to make shelter in the summer.

sandals - I keep a pair of tevas in my bug out\hiking bag.
