Thank you for putting this up. I used to listen to this as a student and was always blown away both by the piece itself and by Eastman's amazing performance. It's a while since I heard it but I'm no less impressed.
Is this guy taking the piss? I think he is, he's trying to make pretentious people celebrate what is essentially a similar noise to a factory at full capacity playing Cheryl Cole on the radio. I mean, I know he say's that if you don't like his music it's because you're too thick to understand the melody but come on, it's not pleasant to listen to.
Great!

Just awful. Peter Maxwell Davies has no talent whatsoever.

I like how a bunch of people came here expecting "Songs for a MAD king" to sound nice and pleasant....
Cmon people, it's supposed to be expressive...that doesnt necessarily mean beautiful.

I wanted to hear this based solely on Eastman's performance and got quite the pleasant surprise! Thank you for sharing it!

I enjoyed this a lot.
Thanks so much for uploading it.
I did not know British classical music was as close to British rock music as that back in 1969 !
In my channel you can find the JAZZ FUNERAL SYMPHONY video conducted by JOHN CAREWE, longtime collaborator of SIR PETER and his FIRES OF LONDON.
Thumbed-up and favorited !
