Was inspired to try this climb after seeing this vid. The starting sequence is so cool coming out of the cave. The kneebar break is not as easy as you make it look in the vid, I felt like the rock was trying to rip my knee out. Just when you think it's over, the pump test starts with the crack lay back into a brutal crux finish. Not an easy climb and well worth coming back to Jtree for. TAPE UP people! I saw so much blood on this climb, you would think a UFC fight was held there.

love the sound of a pretty woman struggling on the rock and letting out primal Oooo's and Ahhh's. Too many edits. WOuld have been nice to watch you in one fluid clip from afar. Nice job though.

When we were climbing my buddy kept making references to some girl having sex with this rock on youtube. I was told to look it up. Today I saw the video.

are v4s on natural rocks a lot harder than ones in gyms because of the texture of the rocks and stuff? because that looked way harder than most of the v4 routes at the gym i used to go to.
@CaffeinatedThoughts oh heck yea, outdoor climbing is way harder outdoors if you just climb in the gym all the time.. but there are three factors why this looks harder than the grade.
1. its outdoors
2. its joshua tree - gradings tend to be harder here
3. its a crack problem, not just a boulder problem. different style

For some reason, I read the title as "Bouldering -- Big Pen V4" I was like, woahhh. You went to Penasquitos to boulder? I knew there was one popular spot around PQ, but I didn't think it was all that well known.
Then I realized you were definitely in Joshua Tree.

@sparkysports usually for bouldering you dont wear a helmet. one of the main reasons for wearing a helmet while climbing is on multipitch when your partner can pull down loose rocks or drop gear that can fall on your head. and its hard to avoid that if your on a hanging belay and cant walk to the side to avoid the falling object. but yes its also for safety on sport routes in case of a bad wipper
@STFUjay yea, its unsafe to climb by yourself but this problem was fairly low to the ground for 75% of the climb... and the other 15% zone covered with a crashpad lol
