@JayT851 Honestly, I can see the thrash elements, but pre-Roots, I always saw more of the death metal influence than the thrash. As for Big 4, I wouldn't include Sepultura based on the thrash elements anyway. I would say Destruction, Slayer, Testament, and Sodom.

@JayT851 Not necessarily opinions, but you can't tell me you don't see the influence Sepultura had on death metal, ESPECIALLY on Beneath the Remains, Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation. Yes, there were more elements of thrash thrown in on Arise and Chaos AD, and not discrediting the band by any means. To say Slayer is heavier is a matter of what is considered heavy to you anyway. Agree to disagree and just enjoy metal as a whole. Too many damn sub-genres anyway.

I'll never forget the time period that this album came out. It came out on the same day as Dream Theater's "Awake" album. Double whammy! I had my first job as a teen and my life was changing around me. Those two records made a great sound track for the fall of 1994 for me, good times. I still love both records till this day.
