Each artiste has got their own style & the most important is their efforts in delivery a good performance to the audiences. Rain is the original & we can't deny the fact. HJ had also praticed hard together wz Artmatic to give a very suave performance wz a bad boy image for this special stage. Happy to see him challenging the different dancing styles for all his songs after his solo debut and he keeps improving himself. He is trying his best to give something new each time so we shud just enjoy.
Props to KHJ for choosing such a tough dance and doing well. Only difference is that Rain managed to sell 'sex' and 'badass-ness' with this dance, and KHJ's version was almost angelic next to the original. Different vibe, but still cool.
Both have a perfect version. Rain's version is perfect, of course, he's a good singer, dancer, i love him. ^^ And we have leader's version. Yeah, is perfect also, but in your style. Rain have your own style and leader too. Hyunjoong don't want be Rain. Hyunjoong want to be Hyunjoong, just that.

yeyeyeyey.....its soo great to see my favourite celebrity of all time doing a cover of one of my other favourites....rain does an amazing job on stage but kim hyun joong also smashed it and i am so proud of how much his dancing and image has improved since his solo debut..(don`t get me wrong, i loved and still love SS501 to bits). but i think kim hyun joong is doing even better for himself as solo...he just exudes a lot of confidence and 'bad ass' charm which make him look even hotter...*sigh*
I don't get some of these comments. KHJ is not trying to outdo Rain or even trying to dance exactly like Rain. He's just showing his appreciation to a respected artist by doing a cover of his song. This is a KHJ video so sure some KHJ fans are going to praise him & think he did it better just as Rain fans might think he did ok but never as good as Rain. No one can truly be right or wrong because it's all just opinion anyway. So just relax & enjoy. No need to take offense to anyone's comment.

Considering it's three minutes of full choreography (Rain's song, too!), in the end-of-year awards season, when he must be so busily flying from place to place... this is a great performance. I heart his dance team as well, they're so professional; their timing is exactly the same with each other and with Hyun Joong.

I will just mention the year end performances...In MAMA, he added an unforgetable tango number after performing Lucky Guy with Suzy from Miss A including her to make a different twist. In SBS Gayo there's a police story with 2 AfterSchool girls then followed by Breakdown original then another remix version. So here in KBS Song Festival at KBS Theater, he added this then performed Breakdown & Lucky Guy too. He was almost like flying in one photo of LG.He always fulfills his promises to his fans.
In every song Kim Hyun Joong always wants to create a different concept,show a diff person. In Breakdown he wants to show his manly side, in Kiss Kiss like a boy next door type, in Lucky Guy, a man who can win in everything & get whatever he wants. I prefer now the Japanese version. hehe He wants his performances to be always different even if they are the same song so he adds a different touch always. In every show he always wears something different.
All the people who worked with Kim Hyun Joong have very good words for him and we can see it too in all his performances. All his hardwork paid off. I am looking forward to watching all vidoes of his fanmeeting last 21 Jan and the latest one in Yokohama 05 Feb.

Comparing two great person will lead you to nothing. Be happy, be proud. Both of them are successful now. We all know that KHJ is a huge fan of Rain and he wants to become like Rain. You can't seriously say that KHJ is better. I freaking love him and he does the choregraphy well but there is that speacial rainismus feeling that is misssing. If you had to explain Rain with a song it would be Rainsims, those to thing are one. Yeah KHJ version may be clearer but I somehow feel that he is just doing the dance steps (perfect) and not really giving of the feeling of being the hottest man of the word, which makes Rains version so awesome. And I am not a hardcore rain fan^^

providing some clarification here... kim hyun joong IS doing the vocals, but not really live. some parts he is singing into the mic, but here's how they work it. the artist doing a cover of a song PRE-RECORD the vocals over the music. so yeah, you aren't hearing rain's vocals on this track, it is KHJ, but he is lip syncing to focus on the choreo. the same goes for most other performances by groups performed for shows. they pre-record their vocals, then they lip sync as they dance.
I bet if Leader speaks English well he'll be in Hollywood too. hahahahaha. I know, I know it wouldn't happen soon. And honestly, I want Leader to slow down. Rest for a while.
Rain and KHJ were not on the same level... its like an idol and a fan relationship only because for KHJ he really admire and look up to Rain as his senior and he really admitted that he idolizes Rain!!! i like both of them but honestly speaking RAIN is RAIN no matter what!!! I am a fan of both KHJ and Rain, looking at both of the videos I think KHJ did a very good job dancing but Rain gives it that extra spice. I like Rains better, but KHJ was good too.

He purposely lip synced because he wanted to show to his audience that he can dance too. Since he's 25 now or something. It was in an interview. What he's doing is for his fans and audience:)

I reviewed the original version of Rainism from Rain. Well original remains original. But as far as choreography is concern, Hyun Joong's version is clearer than Rain. KHJ learned to isolate movements and that's good. I like this version KHJ better, he had brought the sophistication for Rainism. Rain can sometimes go beyond controlled routine so it appears choreo is somewhat a bit messy. I don't care weather he sings live or not. Movement is mt concern. thanks for sharing

Considering it's three minutes of full choreography (Rain's song, too!), in the end-of-year awards season, when he must be so busily flying from place to place... this is a great performance. I heart his dance team as well, they're so professional; their timing is exactly the same with each other and with Hyun Joong.

I will just mention the year end performances...In MAMA, he added an unforgetable tango number after performing Lucky Guy with Suzy from Miss A including her to make a different twist. In SBS Gayo there's a police story with 2 AfterSchool girls then followed by Breakdown original then another remix version. So here in KBS Song Festival at KBS Theater, he added this then performed Breakdown & Lucky Guy too. He was almost like flying in one photo of LG.He always fulfills his promises to his fans.

In every song Kim Hyun Joong always wants to create a different concept,show a diff person. In Breakdown he wants to show his manly side, in Kiss Kiss like a boy next door type, in Lucky Guy, a man who can win in everything & get whatever he wants. I prefer now the Japanese version. hehe He wants his performances to be always different even if they are the same song so he adds a different touch always. In every show he always wears something different.

All of KHJ's diehard fans will love him forever for what he was, what he is & what he will become. We all have to also thank Lyle Beniga for helping KHJ for his choreography of Breakdown, Please, Lucky Guy DYLT, Keon Madrid for Kiss Kiss & Ellen too who helped. It was becoz of his hardwork, generosity, humility, LOVE for his fans that it will be Kim Hyun Joong forever. There is still so much to say but he is so awesome. We have to take all the words of all the people who worked with him.

You can't seriously say that KHJ is better. I freaking love him and he does the choregraphy well but there is that speacial rainismus feeling that is misssing. If you had to explain Rain with a song it would be Rainsims, those to thing are one. Yeah KHJ version may be clearer but I somehow feel that he is just doing the dance steps (perfect) and not really giving of the feeling of being the hottest man of the word, which makes Rains version so awesome. And I am not a hardcore rain fan^^

It's just that if rainsimus wasn't sang by rain it wouldn't have been such a sucsess. It's the way he moves, the way he sticks his toung out, etc. It's not just rainism it's RAINism. Just learnt one thing.. Never try to cover any artist in Korea even as a tribute to them.. Its too sensitive of an issue.. One day when our fanclub becomes sunbaes, I do hope many people cover Kim Hyun Joong.. whether it is good or bad, I will be grateful to them for respecting my idol..

providing some clarification here... kim hyun joong IS doing the vocals, but not really live. some parts he is singing into the mic, but here's how they work it. the artist doing a cover of a song PRE-RECORD the vocals over the music. so yeah, you aren't hearing rain's vocals on this track, it is KHJ, but he is lip syncing to focus on the choreo. the same goes for most other performances by groups performed for shows. they pre-record their vocals, then they lip sync as they dance.

I am a fan of both KHJ and Rain, looking at both of the videos I think KHJ did a very good job dancing but Rain gives it that extra spice. I like Rains better, but KHJ was good too.

I reviewed the original version of Rainism from Rain. Well original remains original. But as far as choreography is concern, Hyun Joong's version is clearer than Rain. KHJ learned to isolate movements and that's good. I like this version KHJ better, he had brought the sophistication for Rainism. Rain can sometimes go beyond controlled routine so it appears choreo is somewhat a bit messy. I don't care weather he sings live or not. Movement is mt concern. thanks for sharing

@jayajayaful Are you sure you reviewed Rainism of Rain's?I can only assume that you watched Rain's mv,which doesn't totally shows the dance movements.I suggest that you should watch the live versions of Rain.KHJ is good but he didn't fully catch the 'essence' of Rainism,he looks kind of stiff compared to Rain(naturally since Rainism is based on Rain).It's alright to side your idol but please do spare a thought for Rain's fans.I'm not criticising KHJ here,just stating the facts.
