Snufkinism san, I am confused by the title of the song. In the heading of the song it is 秋止符 which sounds as "aki shi fu". You wrote the title as 終止符 which is indeed "shuu shi fu". So does it mean that the singer changed the wording of the song? Can a singer do that? Japanese is not my language so your help will be greatly appreciated.

We read "秋" not only "Aki" but also "Shuu", for example "Suubun (Qiufen)".

Chinese characters are often called "ideograms". Each characters has one meaning. However, each characters has a few pronunciation.

In this case, he found "秋" and "終" have same pronunciation "Shuu". He played a little Japanese word game in the title.

Shuushifu by Shinji Tanimura.

Shuu-shi-fu (終止符) means an ending, stop or a 'period' at the end of a sentence. Tanimura used a character with same shuu sound meaning 'autumn'　（秋） in place of （終）, as a poetic word play describing a wonderful romance that ended when autumn came.

I love this song too! "22 years old" is also great.
