  • good video dude..Im getting the game in the mail soon and just wanted some tips so i thank you sir ;o)

  • Every time the mineral level changed, you said that "___ means there's a few more"

Good means there's a few more?

Moderate means there's a few more?

Poor means there's a few more?

Not helpful at all. You're not the first to figure this out

  • takes me 30-60 probes to fully scan any planet. this video doesnt address how to completely mine a planet. 7 minutes to talk about the pause-click method is... a waste of viewers' time. also, maker of this video shouldnt be making a tips video when he himself is a noob. upgrading scanner speed will make this method completely useless, so people should just focus on getting that upgrade. and to completely mine a planet, u shouldnt just randomly scan it, u need a method.

  • Dude that "trick" for scanning is old...I found that out the first time I played :P

  • Dude, don't listen to those haters. I appreciate the concern you had for the ME community and were willing to take the time to upload this vid.

  • I've actually fallen asleep while doing the scanning...

  • @g8rk0k so have i.more than once. ;-)

  • still not that reliable but it wasn't mean't to be easy

  • Lol ... Smart .... But thats for the Xbox...

With the pc you can just adjust the settings xD and adjust the scroll rate of the scanner

  • i think everyone figured this out without needing to watch a video on this, just saying

  • @gsf4lyf judging by the views and people saying thank you id beg to differ

  • @gsf4lyf yea i got in in a couple seconds when i started mining minerals, i waqs like F that im not taking forever to scan like that and i started clicking on my first planet.

  • For PC users!: my method: hold right mouse button, and start from top, rotate the planet and make spiral down, its the fastest, i will soon upload vid for better explanation.

  • Pc is better ...Pc forever....not x-box or PS3...

  • @Brcko4s does this have anything to do with the video? no it doesnt

  • that's a very good method you got there! nice vid

  • Of course, if you were playing the PC version and using a mouse like the Logitech G9 you could increase the DPI to scan twice as fast as this. Just a shame then that the PC port of Mass Effect 2 is a bit shit.

  • @Soopytwist yah i would have included mineral mining as part of my mass effect 2 playthrough but it took so fucking long it was ridiculous, the vast majority of the game i played even using these techniques was scanning for ore.

  • dam...looks hard to scan with 360...on PC its way easier. using mouse to scan is much much faster than even with this trick

could get a planet from rich to depleted in like 1-2 minutes

  • If I had an HD I would be able to read the text...Thanks BioWare....assholes...

  • @LocustLive ouch! that sucks man

  • thats strange, my text is fine

  • Nice TV.

  • @Tatchko thanks

  • DUDEEE i have the same TV! Sony Bravia LCD 42 inch! 1080p

  • @IiIEragonIiI lol i wish i had a camera which could show how great it is! alas im stuck with 10 megapixels and a very empty wallet!

  • You'd think they would've recognized this as a problem and just made it easier in the first place. Even on PC, just having to hold down a key/button is completely redundant -- using clicks AT ALL is innapropriate. They should have just made it quick, smooth, and always on; why anyone would want to un-fun-tize something is completely beyond me. The PC UI problems don't stop there, either. Scrolling requires holding the scroll block--a big problem for a game like ME.

    ...ME1 wasn't this dumb.

  • @InteractiveViewer333 yeah imo this game only deserves a 85 (Compaired to the 90+ ratings that its been geting) just because of the scanning... which is needed to progress though hardcore/instanity/save crew members in the final battle... You should be able to have some sort of auto scan or something... It's far to annoying to spend 3 hours of my 20 hour playthough scanning planets for ore... Why can't you buy the fucking stuff....

  • Yeah this is the best way to do it for sure!

  • Hey, I do the same thing! :D

  • @GiddyupHorsie360 haha yah its one of those things where you just naturally find out yourself or you get frustrated for hours and finally resort to youtube, and thats why i posted the video!

  • Yeah thats why I did my video. I didn't see yours before, though.

  • @GiddyupHorsie360 np man you probably typed in the name of your video to see if it was done before and mine didnt pop up no big deal and more people benefit now

  • Nice tip! And it works fine, Thanks alot :D

  • @Kirremazter No problem man

  • wow thanks for this. i was rotating and moving the crosshair at the same time while scanning like 3 rows at a time moving up and down and thought that was fast.. you proved me wrong haha.

  • @tys519 np man

  • another tip, with the right analog stick you can make the planet rotate, making it faster

  • @PsYcHoMiKe99 ya i heard thats another great way to improve scanning

  • Update:(im to lazy to do an annotation lol...) A bioware (moderater, developer, i dunno haha) claimed that the ores are not just randomly placed on the planet and do indeed have visual features that you can distinguish apart from the rest of the land around it.

  • yeah, i play for Pc and i can clean a rich planet in under 3 minutes without the upgrade to the scanner

  • hey any suggestions for what planet has a high source of platnium ?

  • well i the platinum ore was mostly evenly distributed through out the galaxy but as a tip to other players looking for element zero (eezo) once you unlock the location of the (SPOILER ALERT!!!!!!!!!!!!!) migrant fleet search that star cluster and you find a system that has 3 dwarf planets inside its asteroid belt. Those are HUMONGOUS sources of element zero

  • This is one of the parts where PC just rapes. The scanner goes 2x faster than Xbox 360.

  • what can you buy with this probed items. is it the same as credits, and where do i buy the ship upgrades from doing this. thanks

  • when you probe for ore it can unlock anomalies that create side missions, with the ore you probe you can buy research upgrades at the research hub in the normandy's tech lab that can greatly increase you and your squads abilities, shields and health

  • shit thats what i do but with new scanner it really hard because u move so fast u lose it to quick

  • you just gotta tap really fast, it at least allows you to know the general area of where the ore spike is

  • Thanks a lot dude, this was really helpful. Good hunting!

  • Good stuff man, I'm thinking about getting this game, however, it looks a little too complex for me xD

  • Quite on the contrary, bioware took a humongus leap back in complexity. In the first game you got to modify everything, weapons, ammo types, armour, armour upgrades, weapon upgrades, omni tools, grenades.... all sorts of stuff. Now its just, which armour, which weapon, which team member... kinda dissapointing for me :P

  • yeah same here, I hate the planet scan feature, it saps the life out of the game for me.

  • @MrFisheh100 I thought so too but it is actually pretty easy once you get the hang of it
