@alternatehistorypt I was being a bit sarcastic, but am super interested in alternate history. It's a decent attempt at developing the idea presented in 'Fatherland,' and creating a possible outcome.

Try taking some of the other comment's criticisms into consideration. You're addition is a good start, but you need to delve a bit deeper. Looking into past and current conflicts for some insight into it, as well as the opinions of historians.

@drosera88 Also, try making a new one that is completely yours from beginning to end. The 'Fatherland' intro is great, but going from the first half being narrated to the second half using text really feels inconsistent in the video.

It be a big boost quality wise to either make a new one with full, original narration from the beginning, or simply just text from the beginning.

well fahterland would be the closest alternate history if the US had widrawn from europe.

the thing is that in the summer of 44 germany was fighting on three fronts alone: france, italy and russia. now if a failure of D day would have occured germans would have thrown their whole might to hold the soviet advance in ukraine and baltic coutries.

on the top of that the USSR wouldn't have fared that long without the TREMENDOUS US/british logistical support.

and besides of all that it was Stalin above all who urged the allies to open new fronts in europe to relieve the pressure on his side. read some history before giving your opinions.

if russia was left to fight germany alone it would either been knocked out or kept at bay even if their initial intention before the war was to make the whole european continent under bolchevik rule. and germany warned of this threat in its propaganda campaigns to bring more people to their cause.

This is unrealistic. in 1944 when in yours AH Germany wins in Normandy, the USSR started liberation of Poland, Romania and else. Without second front , War maybe will ended at the end of 1945. And Soviet Union will end it near the Spain and Britain.

The USA is victorious? Not as much as the peoples of Europe and Russia. And during the 30 years' cold war wouldn't the United States be secretly supplying the Soviets??? (Still, the stress of the ongoing war would have been too much for the USSR and Hitler would have been in Vladivostok, guaranteeing a Goldwater Victory in 1964 depite Joseph P Kennedy airing the [our timeline LBJ] "Daisy" ad against him, thus renewing the cold war until the inevitable Nazi collapse.)

Not a chance in hell by 44 the nazis had lost. The allied invasion only prevented the russians from walking to the channel coast. There was no way even with the 30% extra resources the nazis were going to stop the red army.

@EuropeanFascism the only reason so many germans went anti-nazi in 44-45 was becuz it was obvious they were going to lose. however if they had taken out britain in 40-41 and russia 41-to mid 42 then basically the war would have been over by 43 except for the u.s who might have made peace with germany to fightjapan. if the nazis had won german people would have loved it

@alonenjersey I read the novel too by I prefered the movie (what is strange but in this case truth) because the nazis persecuted the pan-european movement (ancestor of the EU) among other reasons :)

You might want to put a little effort into your map of "free europe" post NAZIS. The post - versailles settlement was a major cause of WWII. Also, who is going to enforce the restored borders? Germany will not accept the loss of her vast empire, and unless they are defeated, good luck.

I saw that movie long ago and though the concept is interesting there's one flaw. Hitler would not lived into the 1960s. In the 1940s, Hitler was suffering from either syphilis or Parkinson's Disease. He also had heart problems. Hitler would have died in the 1950s and probably succeeded by Himmler or Bormann.

Its like they die with their own poison... I do not think there would be so much neo-nazis in the present world today if the reich had lasted so much longer and its fall so much recent... WW3 is very crazzy it would destroy everything... I hope nobody causes that ever...

IMHO Faterland is totally unrealistic movie. Fail of D-Day would only slow down the defeat of Germany. Perhaps this would have led to Soviet Europe, but never - to Hitler's victory. Anyway It was very clear in 1944 WHO will be the winner.

A goof aftermath scenario would be - Reich collapses, the Chicago pact under USA expands into the European nations. European empires collapses as everyone seizes opportunity for independence, resulting in anarchy and civil war in all of Africa, with probably some fascist holdout state in Central Africa. USSR reforms, and seizing infrastructure and weapons left behind by the Nazis, and becomes a new superpower and starts another Cold War with the US. Either way, the world is still fucked.

the US didnt do anything in your story, so how come they proclaim a victory when they didnt fight in the first place?

I heard that some americans get carried away into stupidland due to their patriotism, but this really eats the cake.

(also the original premise of the movie fatherland is bogus because the wehrmacht(eastern front) was already driven halfway back at the time of D-Day)

@TheDutchGame Although not ideal the American system is still better than fascism, besides the real USA became too far right during the Cold War with the Soviet Union... if the Cold War had been with fascism instead they'll become more leftwing or no so right wing as the USA of the real world... so the America of this video although not socialist is in some ways very different than the real America... By the way at the end of the movie "Fatherland" they say the Reich collapsed soon afterwards after the holocaust revelation. And if the Pope excomunicated Hitler things could become very tense. Even Germany has many catholics, they could not afford to kill and persecute all. And besides, the winning USA is not like the real one. The real one was shapped by the cold war against USSR.
