Once there was a Greek King, who went to the Oracle for council. He was planning on going to war against Persia. He went to her in order to ask if he would be victorious to which she responded "If you go to war, a kingdom will fall". The King was glad to hear this and left.
The Greek King went to war with Persia, and a kingdom did fall...His Own...
@MarkFarren Hmm...I read the prophecy in a book about the Oracle, And I know that's what it was, no mention of Sparta or anything. You have to remember that the Greeks didn't fight the Persians only once, and I think it was the King of Thebes who actually went if I remember correctly.
I'm not saying your wrong, the Oracle at Delphi was active for hundreds of years, maybe even thousands, I just saying she made lots of predictions, and the Greeks were always fighting the Persians.
Of course, probably a few hundred times. But doubling the effect of temples is extremely logical. It makes more citizens happy. Why is that along with others so unusual?
I notice the PC players will make this wonder often yet have no temples.

"Doubles the effect of temples"? Compared to the silly effects of some wonders, that's almost logical.

Almost? Compared to some of the effects, it is as logical as math.

Lol, yeah. Like the Lighthouse of Alexandria giving sea units two extra moves? Like lighthouse has any effect on a ship 1000 miles away. ;-)

@DanPitrowiski Why would a special temple have any effect at all on the rest of your temples in the empire?

@kvn8907
I dunno, why would a cathedral offer more happiness, its just another fucking temple,
akirosette 1 year ago
@akirosette A Cathedral is basically a huge temple so it allows more people to worship.

funny... i used to think the ruins was all that was ever made of 'the oracle'

People probably didn't get rich and stupid enough to build ruins until the 18th century British lords came around.
The architect of the Third Reich did theorize that buildings should be designed to leave good-looking corpses. He probably didn't get to try this out.
