For something pretty much twice as much as the Maschine, they really need to do better to convince me to get this thing. Other than a bunch of extra connections on the device itself and quite a few encoders, I really see no advantage worth that price yet.
@tasherredenajetic Nah see I don't think they would drop the hybrid first for two reasons. One, they want to compete with Maschine and they didn't have anything on the market. They couldn't let that go on much longer. Plus, like I said, I think you would want to perfect the software first before trying to integrate it with a real piece of hardware like the 5000.
@orange2821 As someone who's worked in music retail for many years, it's not gonna happen my man. We've seen the last of the true great hardware MPCs, samplers and sequencers. The last one was Beat Thang and unfortunately that's not doing well because they took to long to release it. I know you're passionate about that time has come and gone my man.
Seems to me the ultimate MPC would be if they just took the 5000 and added the Renissance software. That's it. That's the hybrid everyone wants. And NI wouldn't have anything that comes close to it.
I wonder if the plan is just to use the Renissance to perfect the software first. Then in about three years they will drop the hybrid. Or just release and updated OS for the 5000 that would turn it in to a hybrid.
@orange2821 If they were going to do something right they would have dropped the hybrid first. Truth be told we may never see the hybrid because it'll cost too much to make which will make it too expensive for consumers. Even if they did produce it NI would still thrive. They're far from anyone taking them down. On the last point about turning the 5000 into a hybrid, unfortunately it's impossible. Unless they set themselves up when they created it, which they didn't.
@tasherredenajetic That's a shame. Glad I bought my 5000. So many producers swear by older equipment. I figured it would be a good investment.
Funny thing is....in my opinion....the reason I went with the 5000 over a Maschine....I still detect latency in controllers. I know saying that will piss some folks off. But I'm a drummer and my hands are pretty quick.I can almost always detect the slightest delay when playing on Maschine. If they can overcome latency I will switch to controllers
@orange2821 I've never had latency issues with any of the controllers I've owned. As long as you have a good interface and a somewhat current computer with a decent amount of ram you'll be good.
The Akai MPC 500 = stand alone(works without a computer). Akai MPC Renaissance = Controller (will not work without software). It's the same thing as N.I's maschine. You take the software away or if the software isn't install correctly the 2 displays won't even light up. I know what i'm talking about with N.I's maschine, i know someone who has one. I'm sure the renaissance is the same way. when the prices get lower one day i will find out.
We can all read and we have you tube also but the maschine does not have mp work flow and thats the difference. So in theory if you are slick you are using a mpc (center not controller) in pc enviornment.
Sorry not enough room lol... but like i said I understand you and i dig your videos so think im blasting you. I just have to give credit where its due. The BLUEPRINT belong to AKAI and Roger Linn. The spin off whether improved or not was birthed by MPC. If Akai improves on whats out now then they did what theyre suppose to do and you already have agreed to that. just your first video i felt you prejudged the product. You were blasting it actually...lol..cool lets wait to see it tho. Great vid
My only problem with your comments is your close to last comment. MPCR is not a Maschine by Akai but the opposite. Any product that has 16 pads emulating the MPC functionality in any way is a MPC on software. You know the origin you said it in this video. I love the Maschine and all others like it but that is twisted out of anyones mouth but UNDERSTOOD.....
@KingHanma If I'm not mistaken I specifically said "to put it in layman's terms its a Maschine made by Akai". For those that needed it to be simplified so they can understand it. Get your facts straight.
@tasherredenajetic not before vice versa but again what your saying is UNDERSTOOD. Akai is taking from NI and building as NI took from the Akai and built upon the MPC concept. but as software and yes made a better product so credit is not taken. Your main point is still correct MPCR harware is a controller tailored for the MPCR software JUST LIKE Maschine (thats where the bite is) LOL.
In think we are past that the facts are listed all over the place. The nbottom line is wether you like it or not it's up to the producer. Not too many people are making hardware any more. I wish that wasnt true but it is what it is MY OPINION is on paper it's still a great new product but we'll see when we all get are hands on it. Im 40 yrs old and 1 thing i know its about weapon of choice 3 new products that LOOKS promising. .....
You rite also akai mess up bad to pricey they would have kill it if a controller and standalone not going for still saving for maschine to get back making beats while my MPC 2000 collects dust
I'm talking to anyone and everyone who's trying to critique a product that hasn't been released yet.Like i said,it's not about what you use but how you use it.If you take offense to that.....so be it.
NAILED IT! It really is preference now. But it is good that you pointed out it is not a traditional MPC! I am excited for the MPCR and I believe its a first step into the future of MPCs. This isnt JUST A Controller though. The interface is fucking sick. and worth it
@nerdgerbiler I doubt it. Since I did this vid I've done some further research and all I can do is shake my head. Akai could have really done something great but dropped the ball.
I'm not sure about who was confused on this. IMO its extremely apparent what the deal is. For my home studio situation the MPC-R perfect. Years ago I had an MPC 2000XL, I just used it for sequencing, because the feel was better than the sequencer on my Fantom-S. No big MPC sample libraries, it was just a glorified midi controller and sequencer. The Renaissance gives me that back in a PC integrated package, with an audio interface. It's exactly what I need at the center of my new home studio.
dude your completely right, ima mpc lover myself and ive watched almost every review and what ive gathered is that, this MPCR is another USBcontroller with the mpc look and even feel, they designed this controller for producer to pretend that they are using a MPC hardware device, it allows them to record, edit sequence tracks ect without touching their mac or pc. but im not going to lie, it is still pretty awesome with what it can do software wise and beautiful to look at.
@KingStreetCustoms Truth be told I'm not impressed. Nobody has done a real demonstration on this thing. It's all be Akai reps spouting off specs and randomly pressing button and pads. Even if I was interested in this thing you can't sell me like that.
great info!! I love akai! and i have been using the 3000! but not having the usb conect! and all the bells with todays technology etc! lets keep in touch regarding the new MPC! thank you
Well said Real MPCs are hip hop no software can replace as far as the drum kits go ,but software virtual instruments ralism kick hardware keyboards out the park
True: Fuck the controllers. And if they really want to make something for the pc that would be good. They would add the software with the REAL MPC's. possibilities would be endless.
@basikrecordings Not happening. The whole "backward compatible" thing is impossible with hardware. The thing they should have done was create the hybrid but they settle for a Maschine clone that's inferior.
I am also mad that Akai took so long to do this. The mpc R/S/F are exactly what the MPD 16 should have been in 2004 and the power on pcs and mac was available then to do it. Why did they want until after Native Instruments killed the mpc series off to do something about it. They spent too much time making stand alone controllers. I love the MPK series I had a 25 and plan on getting a 61 but damn talk about losing focus.
@DJKevWest Agreed. I've always said they should have created Maschine but honestly, I'm glad they didn't. It wouldn't be as dope as it is if that happened.
@tasherredenajetic you're probably right. Maschine is dope but I have no need for it. $600 for something I can now do with the $1 Reason upgrade I got and a $99 MPD 18 hardly seem even to me. The Mpc R even looks great but I just can't see myself forking over that or even the $350 for Maschine Mikro when I have a working system you know. Its still interesting though.
@DJKevWest The one thing that bothers me and has always bothered me about reason is the fact that it doesn't let you use third party plugins. That pisses me off because their instruments have always sounded thin to me. Even with the combinator and mastering plugins I'm still unimpressed.
@tasherredenajetic thats one of my favorite features about it. You can always find better sounds than the presets or use fx to make the sounds thicker or layer them but a lot of the newer sounds for reason and external banks sound right. Reason Drum Kits Disco School and Reason Electric Bass are my 3 favorite sound banks I own for refill, hardware, or vst.
@DJKevWest I believe you and that it works for you. I got Reason 5 when it came out and I'm not happy with it. I'm so used to using Ableton and Maschine. Even seperately I can get so much done and with the many plugins I use, I got all the sound I need. Reason has been one of those things that never worked for me personally but I know plenty of peeps like yourself who get it in. Hats off to you.
@tasherredenajetic Thank you. I respect how everyone works if it works for you go for it. I think part of the reason I have not taken so much to vst and such is because I am so used to Reason. Now I have like 50 gigs of refills it doesn't really make a lot of sense for me to switch.
@DJKevWest I feel that but you'd be surprised what the VST world has to offer. Only issue for you is, no way to use them in Reason. But once again, if it works for you and you're happy, handle biz. Much respect.
@tasherredenajetic I do have a few choice vsts and Sonar. I just usually jump back into Reason. There are some great vsts out there you are right. Almost got Komplete friday night but chose to get a new audio interface instead.
@DJKevWest Komplete is that deal. In case you didn't know I'm launching a new site called Playing With Plugins .com in a couple weeks where I'll be reviewing tons of VSTs and FX. If you're interested hit the link in the description box.
@tasherredenajetic you aint lying. its a great package. I just really needed a better audio interface personally. right now I am looking into getting the right gear and rocking reason for a while. I need better monitors than the rokit 5s I got then I'll look into more high end sound banks like that one maybe. Are you using any other vsts besides what comes in Komplete? I feel its a bit of overkill but the stuff that comes with it is solid.
Its funny how many cats thought this would be a real mpc anyway. They discontinued mpcs years ago for a reason. And for the cats who don't get the stand alone mode its like rewire. u can use your rewire program stand alone or rewire it into another program just like Maschine or Reason does with a regular DAW.
This lame ass look at me cat we all know how to read and as for the people that he must be talking about yall need to stop making music if you can't read
I have an Akai MPC1000BK with the improved pads and currently I'm looking forward to buy an Akai MPC2000XL-MCD. I just want to own both machines, and to be honest - I would never buy a "new generation" MPC even if I had money. I just listen to the modern music and realize that music somehow reflects the equipment that it was made on.
Back then = good music & great equipment. Now = wack music & ... hmm.. we will see. Well, I don't wanna judge, it's just my opinion.
@IbnJahmed 9th Wonder and FL STUDIO? That makes no sense, You and I can have the same drum sounds, but I use Cubase and you use an MPC 2000XL and the sound is going to come out exactly the same (minus the effects processing). Now granted, if you are going to get the same sound, there is no point and buy new equipment right?
Honestly? I began my music production adventure with Fruity Loops 3 (now FL Studio). And I still use this software sometimes. It's not the sound that makes a hardware better than the software. It's all about the different purposes that the music production tools are made for.
There were times when music was very diverse and so samplers like Akai MPCs were used mostly by hip-hop/r&b producers. Currently I'm afraid that the new generation of MPCs is largely focused on club music
well said..i have been a mpc user for 16 years...i started on a controller and abelton 3 years ago and never looked back...i get alot of people asking me they want a mpc and i tell them go with a controller and software your getting more for your money and way more options. i still use my mpc to sample and make drums.and then i sample into my daw to get a dirty sound if need be
@caddycuts Good stuff man. I've been using Ableton for about 6 years myself and Maschine for the last 3. Between those 2 I have all of the flexibility I need to create. This is the main reason the MPCR does not interest me. BTW, I'm creating tutorial websites for Ableton, Maschine as well as a Plugin review site. If you're interested, hit the link in the description box and sign up for the mailing list.
Well said sir!.. The really worrying aspect about such close integration with software is that it's great until Akai decide to cease software/driver development and then you end up with an useless box (unless you want to keep an Old dedicated computer for it).
We've seen this kind of thing before with the Nord Modular (G1) and the Korg Oasys cards.. I know my MPC2500 will still be working for me in another 20 years the same as my old MPC60.. can you really be sure the same is true for the MPCR?
its sad to that .. for the price , you can buy a niice LE 3000 .. with the new 3.50 Valixi OS ... i feel bad for the people that are going to buy this product ...
I'm feeling you bro. I bought the Native Instruments Maschine a couple of months ago and i was blown away by the workflow! I always used my Akai MPC2000XL, but Maschine gave me everything i was missing on my MPC (the power and storage capacity of my pc). When i first saw the promo for the new MPC it hyped me up because i have a weak spot for Akai products, but when i saw the specs i realized that it's not that different from NI Maschine (except for the built in audio interface).
@djTLM You are correct sir. But you know people will still invest and possibly get burned. I'm not trying to stop anyone from buying it, just know what you're getting into first.
@tasherredenajetic Yup! Some people don't read what's right in front of them and still believe that this can work like a normal classic music production center.
Yo... Got it. Good call. But for others (and I got friends askin) some do not know what "A Machine" is. I know... They should learn up but the way you say it is a bit confusing. Elaborate of the difference (or similarities for that matter) between "MPC" and a PC controller relationship. That's big when thinking you could just but this rigg and go on a road trip with out the o'l laptop.... Aint hpnin!!!!
MPC micro seems like a better investment.... for the road warriors...
This is my problem with the mpc r rant, what do want akai to do, should they disolve the company and say "that was a nice run" or should continue to grow, NI is one of the bet sounding audio people ever, However, this aint no free ride, and as long as we have innovation, thats going to keep guys like me working. I sell tons of mpc 60 sounds, I can't keep up with the demand. I fix tons of gear, and have released my own line of plugins, I've released 8 albums and I'm still looking for the next
@sunahura First off, its not a rant. If you paid attention to what I said in the Very Beginning of the Video I'm answering everyone who believed this was a hybrid. Nowhere in this video do I talk bad about Akai or even Good about NI. Second, what the hell does you selling MPC sounds, plugins and having 8 albums have to do with any of this? I wrote, recorded and released a song a week for an entire year 2008-2009, so friggin' what. I told you, come at me straight or don't come at all.
@tasherredenajetic I'm not saying you are ranting, but if you were it wouldn't be a bad thing, i wasn't boasting about my projects, but relating to the crowd that we should always expect change and an ever driving force behind this music shit, a lot of people are actually off the subject of the stand alone arguement, and are now focused on hating that akai would dare make another mpc controller.
@sunahura Took you long enough. To be clear, you did say I was ranting, a couple of times. Second, again there is no "hating" (as you put it) in this "rant". So as you asked me in the comment you removed, What's your point?
@sunahura don't get over passionate about this subject or get confused about my purpose of replying, im not here to make enemies, that would be a bad rant, i'm here to join the debate that seemed to go off subject into an akai vs NI. OF NI sounds better hands down (my opinion). But we shouldn't get all twisted over a small debate thats all im saying. tasherredenajetic , we need guyss like you, teachers with talent how could I disrespect you.
@sunahura I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Everything you've said about my video is not true, I've addressed that and now you're trying to take me down another pointless path. I'm good man. Enjoy yourself.
thing, so why all the ranting, whats wrong if akai sell a ton of mpc rs and its a remake of the maschine, what i've learned is that competition is good, for those of you who can remember when New York hip hop got soft, when they had no competition they created a ton of garbage. Thats when the west coast took over, and then the south, We need competition because it inspires new products, and more oppurtunity.
Basically you can get a mpd-32 for much cheaper, assign midi to a beat-making set-up in your fav DAW and you've got the same capabilities... or is there something I'm not getting about the Renaissance?
@skillzflux Well just like Maschine the new MPC series is automapped to its on software and pretty much any instrument or fx plugins you use. The one thing the MPCR has over Maschine is the built in audio interface. Most people won't care for that because they already own an interface.
But it basically just as you said "their version of Mashcine". And think the want $1100 or $1200. It looks good but I don't care about cosmetics. Had it been a true standalone it have crushed the Mashcine.
@Rholt71 Technically it would have been in a different class than Maschine so no it wouldn't have crushed it. Truth is, even though Maschine is the current hotness, people still use MPCs, MVs, SPs, Fantoms, Motifs and etc. If the true hybrid were ever created it would be too expensive for most to other products that are cheaper in price would still survive.
@Rholt71 When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Akai abandons the MPC legacy. NI comes along and literally creates the MPC killer. I know first hand because while I was at Guitar Center I sold many of them to MPC users. Many of those users traded in their old MPC. NI gets praise (and paid) for doing something Akai should have done in the first place. So this is Akai's response. I'm not mad at them at all but I won't be giving them my money.
What I still cannot understand is why all those brands are turning away from stand-alone machines. I personally like the simplicity of MV's or MPC's. Sometimes the limits of the hardware are a plus.
@flaviobos the reason why is cause you just paid them to get free advertisement.
if you out and about and say you on a train and you whip out a maschine mikro and a laptop and get to work there will be atleast 10 sets of eyes on you. next they go home get on the internet and see what its about then after a debate they purchase that same mikro they saw you with. so you paid $399 and they paid $399 and NI paid nothing for the exposure. so now akai sees this cause who lugs around a heavy mpc?
I am not talking about open labs (selling a pc with xp and some keys has nothing to do with a massive 4K or MV8800... I experienced so many bugs, crashes, problems using software that has to be updated constantly...my MPC and MV never had those problems and this is an added value. I am still dreaming of a stand-alone Renaissance that integrates to a MAc or PC...Price wouldn't matter...but seems to remain a dream
I'm surprised people were actually thinking it's a standalone hardware system. Look at the suggested price. That alone should tell you it ain't hardware. What I like about it is, if you like to put your hand on the Akai gear, it gives you that same feel and familiarity. Now, you can use your computer's RAM and hard-drive. It was those limits that I had a problem with, in the older version. I like also like the VST/AU/RTAS plugin feature. I too think they are going in the right direction
@smoovie Its not a bad look but now that NAMM has passed personally I'm convinced to stay away from it though. For a number of reasons: The first being the software looks too complicated. Too much to do to get things done. Second, no one has done a proper demo on it. Everyone is just talking but not playing on it. Third, I'm not convinced Numark can pull it off properly (at least on the first try). Last, the price. I'm good on Maschine. For anyone that wants to cop, I say go ahead.
I Agree with what you just said but what's wrong with a controller? As long as this "controller" can do everything a "hardware" drum machine can do, plus more, then doesn't matter if it's a controller or a jet plane! lol I don't get your point! I get what you're saying but what's the point? That the MPCR isn't a MPC? ofcourse not, because it can do eveything an MPC can plus loads more! if you think otherwise then please care to mention. peace.
@DarkMilkKid basically if you are producing HipHop for ex. you do not need thousands of plug ins, sofisticated reverbs...you need a good ear, a lot of vinyls, and a rock solid sampler that you can put near a turntable and rock on it.
Personally I have a Maschine Mikro in my homestudio. It is simply to bad to have USB cables around, to start up a mac, start a software, etc. Therefore my samplers are just perfect. A turntable and MPC/MV...seriously Hip Hop do not need special effects. IT would just be nice to have a sort of interaction for "post production" such as cutting and arrange tracks on a Mac/PC.
But what if the computer needs a system recovery or an OS Update and your plugins are gone? This will never happen with a standalone MPC. One button, green or blue light on the screen and you are good to go.
@flaviobos It's 2012, MPCs and MVs are no longer being made and the repair costs are going up everyday. Second, they don't make plugins or expansions for either so if you want to get more sounds you're A: Using a hardware workstation or B: You're coming into the computer. To put it simple, if you're doing to End in the computer you may as well Start in the computer.
@tasherredenajetic You are right from a certain point of view but consider that recording vocals or doing some fine tuning is not the same as producing beats and sampling from vinyl. I am not talking about synth music but orginal ruff vinyl sampled beats with a real turntable. You will never find a plugin that IS the LA2A or a Neumann Micro neither, that is fact.Samplers have their own caracteristics and are not software controllers.
what I mean is that there is no need for exotic plugins, lot of colored buttons.I prefer listen to the music instead of draging files around. Those "old" machine were just focused on "sampling".RZA or Madlib or DJ Premier did marvelous music using guess what? MV & MPCs and not an MPD & FruityLoops. There is a reason why, isn't it?There is still a market for standalone gear, that's just my opinion, cheers ;)
@flaviobos Flavio, please don't take offense to what I'm about to say, it's kinda obvious we need to educate you my man. Actually, this convo and a few others has inspired me to do a new vlog next week. Also, if you're interested my new site Playing With Plugins will be launching shortly. I only bring it up because it will address some of the points you brought up in our convo. If you haven't already, please subscribe and you'll see what I'm talking about.
@tasherredenajetic LMMFAO!!!!!! "trying to lure everyone in with this "back in the day" advertising" hell yeah!! lol they wanna call it "vintage" soooo bad hahahahahahaha but they gonna wait like 2 months before they do that....mess around and have Dirty D and Ashy Larry making a track on it...talking bout' "now with dust mode" bwaaahhhh
ahhh a mere $1,300 in this economy. @DigitalDeviXL "a beefed up MPD that comes with software" ,,,, I concur...their price point should have been 400-450, and they should have not limited the software to the same 64 track limit as the Numark mpc's...remember the Linns had 99 Tracks and the 4000 had what...? 128? Lmao they got these cats in the video rocking that ish sooooo hard like it's "official"
$1299.00 - Controller & software & drum kit .. Can you say ! Rip Offf !!! Also they said at namm ! They used the same circuitry from the 3000 ! If thats the case roger linns name shoulda been all over this product !! Basically all it is ! Is a beefed up MPD that comes with software ! Lol waaaack
@DigitalDevilXL Thank you. I'm glad someone can see through the BS. They're trying to lure everyone in with this "back in the day" advertising. Those of us that know better know Numark owns Akai now and the quality has been going down ever since. You can't fool me.
tasherredenajetic, thanks for taking the time out to outline the specifics for those over taken with excitement. I like the concept of this and being an mpc and S series akai boxes. YOur videos are very informative and cuts through the hype. I would like note though that the MPCR has " In addition, the analog output circuitry in MPC Renaissance is identical to the highly regarded MPC3000." analog output circuitry meaning a dedicated synth engine. Your thoughts?
@94style First off I'm not impressed. From the videos I watched from NAMM the software looks very convoluted and complicated.Second, Akai is owned by Numark now and hasn't produced the 3000 in a couple decades. I highly doubt it will be the exact same outputs as the 3000. Third, that sceen on the MPCR looks garbage. It really gives me the impression that it will eventually go bad like many of the old MPCs did. They dressed it up in new clothes but its the same chick. I'm good.
Only thing good about this..is a lot of goofies gonna be getting rid of their 3000's, 60's, 4000's for the low low....I'm snagging as many as I can! Just like when cats start recording to hard disk and ADAT soooo many 1" tape machines got sold!
Sell the Software and use a MPD with it...software probaly won't be worth jack tho' if sold alone as it's only 64 seq tracks...I'd say $50 just for the software
The new MPC line will revolutionize computer base workflow and akai is still keeping thier hardware line, UPS to akai, they have taken back the thrown, I;m getting my money together now. I've studied many Namm 2012 vid and hey! this shit is a breath of fresh air, take your laptop with you, come back to the studio hook it up, priceless.
@MeMpHiSsLiM20 I love you guys, we all addicted to the drama of the ever evolving equipment, we all love dreaming of hitting it big, a few of us are very smart engineer/scientific caliber people. But you got to love competition, and in the end we all know competition is what gets the dust off this industry.
I love all the companies in the business, Beat thang, you got to love, em, the new tempest by dave and linn you gota love it, and know after it's all said and done I got 8 drum macines, 7 computers tons of outboard gear but I find myself on FL studio kicking all my 100,000 studio ass. lol
@sunahura there is no evolution here akai just was diggin in the spare parts bin and said hey lets take all these extra parts that normally wear out and put them in a plastic shell that looks like an mpc and add a screen from the 2500 make the pads a grey translucent color light them up put a wrist pad on it like back in the day make it white so if its in a smoke filled room it will turn yellow put a interface on it so it looks correct in the rear. stick akai on it followed by mpc. chaching!!!!!
@MeMpHiSsLiM20 true, this was a nice debate, but after studying the maschine videos and really researching, I got to say I think maschine is the better machine overall, I got to go get me one. However I still will be testing the MPC R when it comes out.
@tasherredenajetic thanks bro i got your back and i just got an email from NI about something that could be very big and make it hard for akai to bounce back from. and this news is not only for maschine but mikro as well.
Great vid. Its so plain and simple. When I first saw it I knew it was just a controller for the MPC software. Its still a dope product and Im copping. Dope vid!!
Your right brother its just Maschine on DOPE you have to be a DORK to think this is stand alone drum machine thats the problem with the GAME to many DORK in it
I have never had any real experience with hardware drum machines or hybrids. For lack of better terms. I have only deal midi drumpad controllers. I been looking into this new mpc a lot. one of the things that i have come across was the beatthang. No i not hear to promote it but I will use it to make a point later on. The beatthang can be used with software specifically designed for it on the computer. It can also be used stand alone with out a computer.
@mikeannike Now if this company that no one knows about can make a hybrid that can also be used standalone. I don't know why akai would even step into the game and try to take the market from maschine without having this ability. I mean it already has a usb slot , just add a rechargeable battery to it, and keep it form factor slim in the process. This would create a true hybrid that would kill the market imo. Top it off with the fact it has the real geniune mpc sound.
@mikeannike I'm very familiar with the Beat Thang. In fact I was anticipating at least a year before Maschine was announced and released. BT finally came out last year but I honestly don't know one person that owns one. As far as the true hybrid capability I've yet to see it be true. One thing I do know is that the software version is garbage. I was highly disappointed.
@tasherredenajetic I haven't used personally, since no stores that I know have one. But based on what I could find on it, the hardware version has the ability to interface with the software version or be used alone as a standalone hardware device. I just thought that one of the bigger names would have thought to do this. Especially akai, since they're just stepping into the "hybrid" market. I do like the device from what i can see. They could have killed it by making it a true hybrid.
akai renaissanc means : get a laptop...and thats 500 bucks more...we reach 1299 euros wich is still better than the 5000...6 gb of sounds...vst enable...no limitation of ram...it is the end of hardware here...its like that...hardware product are too expensive to produce...and dont bring enough benefits...sad but true...
Hey brother, how do you feel about Traktor Scratch Pro 2? I've been a SSL user for some time now, but like Akai, I also feel they too are sleeping, and have gotten too comfortable being the status quo. Having tested Traktor Scratch Pro 2, I realized I can ONLY GET more creative while doing my live sets. I can honestly say Traktor's better than Serato.
I have a old MPC2000 XL and that machine is bananas great stuff and I always hoped they released a controller like this , ... Since N.I. released Maschine , there was that controller i wanted .So I started to save me some money ,... Now I saw AKAI potting out this renaissance mic , I was confused . Will I wait , ... Or just go for the Maschine , ... The ting is N.I. have bin creating software for year and have great other products .... Still I love my old MPC , ...
akai is deleting a lot of negative comments in their videos. i guess their "marketing strategy" didn't work out that well. :) why not save all the money they put into marketing and make a good sampler that will speak for itself? and maybe support their customers who bought their products? like the 1000 and the 2500. is it really so hard to see that this might work - good product with good support?
For something pretty much twice as much as the Maschine, they really need to do better to convince me to get this thing. Other than a bunch of extra connections on the device itself and quite a few encoders, I really see no advantage worth that price yet.
IndolentSpecies 15 hours ago
@IndolentSpecies Thank you. Truth is they don't have much more to offer. It's just a pretty package.
tasherredenajetic 3 hours ago
@tasherredenajetic Nah see I don't think they would drop the hybrid first for two reasons. One, they want to compete with Maschine and they didn't have anything on the market. They couldn't let that go on much longer. Plus, like I said, I think you would want to perfect the software first before trying to integrate it with a real piece of hardware like the 5000.
orange2821 2 days ago
@orange2821 As someone who's worked in music retail for many years, it's not gonna happen my man. We've seen the last of the true great hardware MPCs, samplers and sequencers. The last one was Beat Thang and unfortunately that's not doing well because they took to long to release it. I know you're passionate about that time has come and gone my man.
tasherredenajetic 2 days ago
Seems to me the ultimate MPC would be if they just took the 5000 and added the Renissance software. That's it. That's the hybrid everyone wants. And NI wouldn't have anything that comes close to it.
I wonder if the plan is just to use the Renissance to perfect the software first. Then in about three years they will drop the hybrid. Or just release and updated OS for the 5000 that would turn it in to a hybrid.
orange2821 2 days ago
@orange2821 If they were going to do something right they would have dropped the hybrid first. Truth be told we may never see the hybrid because it'll cost too much to make which will make it too expensive for consumers. Even if they did produce it NI would still thrive. They're far from anyone taking them down. On the last point about turning the 5000 into a hybrid, unfortunately it's impossible. Unless they set themselves up when they created it, which they didn't.
tasherredenajetic 2 days ago
@tasherredenajetic That's a shame. Glad I bought my 5000. So many producers swear by older equipment. I figured it would be a good investment.
Funny thing is....in my opinion....the reason I went with the 5000 over a Maschine....I still detect latency in controllers. I know saying that will piss some folks off. But I'm a drummer and my hands are pretty quick.I can almost always detect the slightest delay when playing on Maschine. If they can overcome latency I will switch to controllers
orange2821 2 days ago
@orange2821 I've never had latency issues with any of the controllers I've owned. As long as you have a good interface and a somewhat current computer with a decent amount of ram you'll be good.

SouthPoverty 3 days ago
The Akai MPC 500 = stand alone(works without a computer). Akai MPC Renaissance = Controller (will not work without software). It's the same thing as N.I's maschine. You take the software away or if the software isn't install correctly the 2 displays won't even light up. I know what i'm talking about with N.I's maschine, i know someone who has one. I'm sure the renaissance is the same way. when the prices get lower one day i will find out.

Stupid people are stupid
tasherredenajetic 4 days ago
NAH YOU ARE "IGNANT"!
We can all read and we have you tube also but the maschine does not have mp work flow and thats the difference. So in theory if you are slick you are using a mpc (center not controller) in pc enviornment.

KingHanma 1 week ago
Sorry not enough room lol... but like i said I understand you and i dig your videos so think im blasting you. I just have to give credit where its due. The BLUEPRINT belong to AKAI and Roger Linn. The spin off whether improved or not was birthed by MPC. If Akai improves on whats out now then they did what theyre suppose to do and you already have agreed to that. just your first video i felt you prejudged the product. You were blasting it actually...lol..cool lets wait to see it tho. Great vid
KingHanma 1 week ago
My only problem with your comments is your close to last comment. MPCR is not a Maschine by Akai but the opposite. Any product that has 16 pads emulating the MPC functionality in any way is a MPC on software. You know the origin you said it in this video. I love the Maschine and all others like it but that is twisted out of anyones mouth but UNDERSTOOD.....
KingHanma 1 week ago
@KingHanma If I'm not mistaken I specifically said "to put it in layman's terms its a Maschine made by Akai". For those that needed it to be simplified so they can understand it. Get your facts straight.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
@tasherredenajetic little touchy there huh.
KingHanma 4 days ago
@KingHanma Furthermore it is a Maschine made by Akai because they're copying what NI did. Think about that for a second.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
@tasherredenajetic not before vice versa but again what your saying is UNDERSTOOD. Akai is taking from NI and building as NI took from the Akai and built upon the MPC concept. but as software and yes made a better product so credit is not taken. Your main point is still correct MPCR harware is a controller tailored for the MPCR software JUST LIKE Maschine (thats where the bite is) LOL.
KingHanma 4 days ago
In think we are past that the facts are listed all over the place. The nbottom line is wether you like it or not it's up to the producer. Not too many people are making hardware any more. I wish that wasnt true but it is what it is MY OPINION is on paper it's still a great new product but we'll see when we all get are hands on it. Im 40 yrs old and 1 thing i know its about weapon of choice 3 new products that LOOKS promising. .....

NAILED IT! It really is preference now. But it is good that you pointed out it is not a traditional MPC! I am excited for the MPCR and I believe its a first step into the future of MPCs. This isnt JUST A Controller though. The interface is fucking sick. and worth it
nerdgerbiler 2 weeks ago
@nerdgerbiler I doubt it. Since I did this vid I've done some further research and all I can do is shake my head. Akai could have really done something great but dropped the ball.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
so basically akai is releasing a 1300 dollar controller? wow.
ahlvinf 2 weeks ago
@ahlvinf Yes and no. It does have the audio i/o and come with and controls it's own software. Either way, I'm still interested in it.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
I'm not sure about who was confused on this. IMO its extremely apparent what the deal is. For my home studio situation the MPC-R perfect. Years ago I had an MPC 2000XL, I just used it for sequencing, because the feel was better than the sequencer on my Fantom-S. No big MPC sample libraries, it was just a glorified midi controller and sequencer. The Renaissance gives me that back in a PC integrated package, with an audio interface. It's exactly what I need at the center of my new home studio.
elohimfetus 2 weeks ago
@elohimfetus I feel you, but I'd wait until it drops before you say it's the perfect piece for you.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
@tasherredenajetic Fair enough. The certainty is a bit premature. I hope it lives up to the hype.
elohimfetus 6 days ago
dude your completely right, ima mpc lover myself and ive watched almost every review and what ive gathered is that, this MPCR is another USBcontroller with the mpc look and even feel, they designed this controller for producer to pretend that they are using a MPC hardware device, it allows them to record, edit sequence tracks ect without touching their mac or pc. but im not going to lie, it is still pretty awesome with what it can do software wise and beautiful to look at.
KingStreetCustoms 3 weeks ago
@KingStreetCustoms Truth be told I'm not impressed. Nobody has done a real demonstration on this thing. It's all be Akai reps spouting off specs and randomly pressing button and pads. Even if I was interested in this thing you can't sell me like that.

tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago

True: Fuck the controllers. And if they really want to make something for the pc that would be good. They would add the software with the REAL MPC's. possibilities would be endless.
basikrecordings 2 weeks ago
@basikrecordings Not happening. The whole "backward compatible" thing is impossible with hardware. The thing they should have done was create the hybrid but they settle for a Maschine clone that's inferior.
tasherredenajetic 1 week ago
I am also mad that Akai took so long to do this. The mpc R/S/F are exactly what the MPD 16 should have been in 2004 and the power on pcs and mac was available then to do it. Why did they want until after Native Instruments killed the mpc series off to do something about it. They spent too much time making stand alone controllers. I love the MPK series I had a 25 and plan on getting a 61 but damn talk about losing focus.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
@DJKevWest Agreed. I've always said they should have created Maschine but honestly, I'm glad they didn't. It wouldn't be as dope as it is if that happened.
tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago
@tasherredenajetic you're probably right. Maschine is dope but I have no need for it. $600 for something I can now do with the $1 Reason upgrade I got and a $99 MPD 18 hardly seem even to me. The Mpc R even looks great but I just can't see myself forking over that or even the $350 for Maschine Mikro when I have a working system you know. Its still interesting though.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
@DJKevWest The one thing that bothers me and has always bothered me about reason is the fact that it doesn't let you use third party plugins. That pisses me off because their instruments have always sounded thin to me. Even with the combinator and mastering plugins I'm still unimpressed.
tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago
@tasherredenajetic thats one of my favorite features about it. You can always find better sounds than the presets or use fx to make the sounds thicker or layer them but a lot of the newer sounds for reason and external banks sound right. Reason Drum Kits Disco School and Reason Electric Bass are my 3 favorite sound banks I own for refill, hardware, or vst.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
@DJKevWest I believe you and that it works for you. I got Reason 5 when it came out and I'm not happy with it. I'm so used to using Ableton and Maschine. Even seperately I can get so much done and with the many plugins I use, I got all the sound I need. Reason has been one of those things that never worked for me personally but I know plenty of peeps like yourself who get it in. Hats off to you.
tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago
@tasherredenajetic Thank you. I respect how everyone works if it works for you go for it. I think part of the reason I have not taken so much to vst and such is because I am so used to Reason. Now I have like 50 gigs of refills it doesn't really make a lot of sense for me to switch.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
@DJKevWest I feel that but you'd be surprised what the VST world has to offer. Only issue for you is, no way to use them in Reason. But once again, if it works for you and you're happy, handle biz. Much respect.
tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago
@tasherredenajetic I do have a few choice vsts and Sonar. I just usually jump back into Reason. There are some great vsts out there you are right. Almost got Komplete friday night but chose to get a new audio interface instead.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
@DJKevWest Komplete is that deal. In case you didn't know I'm launching a new site called Playing With Plugins .com in a couple weeks where I'll be reviewing tons of VSTs and FX. If you're interested hit the link in the description box.
tasherredenajetic 3 weeks ago
@tasherredenajetic you aint lying. its a great package. I just really needed a better audio interface personally. right now I am looking into getting the right gear and rocking reason for a while. I need better monitors than the rokit 5s I got then I'll look into more high end sound banks like that one maybe. Are you using any other vsts besides what comes in Komplete? I feel its a bit of overkill but the stuff that comes with it is solid.
DJKevWest 3 weeks ago
Its funny how many cats thought this would be a real mpc anyway. They discontinued mpcs years ago for a reason. And for the cats who don't get the stand alone mode its like rewire. u can use your rewire program stand alone or rewire it into another program just like Maschine or Reason does with a regular DAW.

IbnJahmed 4 weeks ago
@IbnJahmed 9th Wonder and FL STUDIO? That makes no sense, You and I can have the same drum sounds, but I use Cubase and you use an MPC 2000XL and the sound is going to come out exactly the same (minus the effects processing). Now granted, if you are going to get the same sound, there is no point and buy new equipment right?
King622 4 weeks ago
@King622
IbnJahmed 4 weeks ago
well said..i have been a mpc user for 16 years...i started on a controller and abelton 3 years ago and never looked back...i get alot of people asking me they want a mpc and i tell them go with a controller and software your getting more for your money and way more options. i still use my mpc to sample and make drums.and then i sample into my daw to get a dirty sound if need be
caddycuts 1 month ago
@caddycuts Good stuff man. I've been using Ableton for about 6 years myself and Maschine for the last 3. Between those 2 I have all of the flexibility I need to create. This is the main reason the MPCR does not interest me. BTW, I'm creating tutorial websites for Ableton, Maschine as well as a Plugin review site. If you're interested, hit the link in the description box and sign up for the mailing list.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
Well said sir!.. The really worrying aspect about such close integration with software is that it's great until Akai decide to cease software/driver development and then you end up with an useless box (unless you want to keep an Old dedicated computer for it).
We've seen this kind of thing before with the Nord Modular (G1) and the Korg Oasys cards.. I know my MPC2500 will still be working for me in another 20 years the same as my old MPC60.. can you really be sure the same is true for the MPCR?

I always used my Akai MPC2000XL, but Maschine gave me everything i was missing on my MPC (the power and storage capacity of my pc). When i first saw the promo for the new MPC it hyped me up because i have a weak spot for Akai products, but when i saw the specs i realized that it's not that different from NI Maschine (except for the built in audio interface).

I fix tons of gear, and have released my own line of plugins, I've released 8 albums and I'm still looking for the next
sunahura 1 month ago
@sunahura First off, its not a rant. If you paid attention to what I said in the Very Beginning of the Video I'm answering everyone who believed this was a hybrid. Nowhere in this video do I talk bad about Akai or even Good about NI. Second, what the hell does you selling MPC sounds, plugins and having 8 albums have to do with any of this? I wrote, recorded and released a song a week for an entire year 2008-2009, so friggin' what. I told you, come at me straight or don't come at all.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@tasherredenajetic I'm not saying you are ranting, but if you were it wouldn't be a bad thing, i wasn't boasting about my projects, but relating to the crowd that we should always expect change and an ever driving force behind this music shit, a lot of people are actually off the subject of the stand alone arguement, and are now focused on hating that akai would dare make another mpc controller.
sunahura 1 month ago
@sunahura Took you long enough. To be clear, you did say I was ranting, a couple of times. Second, again there is no "hating" (as you put it) in this "rant". So as you asked me in the comment you removed, What's your point?
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@tasherredenajetic No bra your fans are ranting
sunahura 1 month ago
@sunahura don't get over passionate about this subject or get confused about my purpose of replying, im not here to make enemies, that would be a bad rant, i'm here to join the debate that seemed to go off subject into an akai vs NI. OF NI sounds better hands down (my opinion). But we shouldn't get all twisted over a small debate thats all im saying. tasherredenajetic , we need guyss like you, teachers with talent how could I disrespect you.
sunahura 1 month ago
@sunahura I honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Everything you've said about my video is not true, I've addressed that and now you're trying to take me down another pointless path. I'm good man. Enjoy yourself.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
thing, so why all the ranting, whats wrong if akai sell a ton of mpc rs and its a remake of the maschine, what i've learned is that competition is good, for those of you who can remember when New York hip hop got soft, when they had no competition they created a ton of garbage. Thats when the west coast took over, and then the south, We need competition because it inspires new products, and more oppurtunity.
sunahura 1 month ago
Basically you can get a mpd-32 for much cheaper, assign midi to a beat-making set-up in your fav DAW and you've got the same capabilities... or is there something I'm not getting about the Renaissance?
skillzflux 1 month ago
@skillzflux Well just like Maschine the new MPC series is automapped to its on software and pretty much any instrument or fx plugins you use. The one thing the MPCR has over Maschine is the built in audio interface. Most people won't care for that because they already own an interface.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
I agree. I won't waste my money on this. Stick with your new girl!
Rholt71 1 month ago
But it basically just as you said "their version of Mashcine". And think the want $1100 or $1200. It looks good but I don't care about cosmetics. Had it been a true standalone it have crushed the Mashcine.
Rholt71 1 month ago
@Rholt71 Technically it would have been in a different class than Maschine so no it wouldn't have crushed it. Truth is, even though Maschine is the current hotness, people still use MPCs, MVs, SPs, Fantoms, Motifs and etc. If the true hybrid were ever created it would be too expensive for most to other products that are cheaper in price would still survive.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
Not trying to insult. I'm just pissed that Akai would do that.
Rholt71 1 month ago
@Rholt71 When you think about it, it makes perfect sense. Akai abandons the MPC legacy. NI comes along and literally creates the MPC killer. I know first hand because while I was at Guitar Center I sold many of them to MPC users. Many of those users traded in their old MPC. NI gets praise (and paid) for doing something Akai should have done in the first place. So this is Akai's response. I'm not mad at them at all but I won't be giving them my money.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
Thats sucks...So you're right!!! Okay, I said it. Are you happy now?!!!
Rholt71 1 month ago
@Rholt71 Do you think I do this just to have people tell me "I'm Right"? Come on now that's insulting.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
You are speaking the truth!
What I still cannot understand is why all those brands are turning away from stand-alone machines. I personally like the simplicity of MV's or MPC's. Sometimes the limits of the hardware are a plus.
flaviobos 1 month ago
@flaviobos Simple answer? Because its cheaper to create controllers.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@flaviobos the reason why is cause you just paid them to get free advertisement.
if you out and about and say you on a train and you whip out a maschine mikro and a laptop and get to work there will be atleast 10 sets of eyes on you. next they go home get on the internet and see what its about then after a debate they purchase that same mikro they saw you with. so you paid $399 and they paid $399 and NI paid nothing for the exposure. so now akai sees this cause who lugs around a heavy mpc?
MeMpHiSsLiM20 1 month ago
I am not talking about open labs (selling a pc with xp and some keys has nothing to do with a massive 4K or MV8800... I experienced so many bugs, crashes, problems using software that has to be updated constantly...my MPC and MV never had those problems and this is an added value. I am still dreaming of a stand-alone Renaissance that integrates to a MAc or PC...Price wouldn't matter...but seems to remain a dream
flaviobos 1 month ago
@flaviobos That would be dope but they chose not to go that route. *sigh*
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
I'm surprised people were actually thinking it's a standalone hardware system. Look at the suggested price. That alone should tell you it ain't hardware. What I like about it is, if you like to put your hand on the Akai gear, it gives you that same feel and familiarity. Now, you can use your computer's RAM and hard-drive. It was those limits that I had a problem with, in the older version. I like also like the VST/AU/RTAS plugin feature. I too think they are going in the right direction
smoovie 1 month ago
@smoovie Its not a bad look but now that NAMM has passed personally I'm convinced to stay away from it though. For a number of reasons: The first being the software looks too complicated. Too much to do to get things done. Second, no one has done a proper demo on it. Everyone is just talking but not playing on it. Third, I'm not convinced Numark can pull it off properly (at least on the first try). Last, the price. I'm good on Maschine. For anyone that wants to cop, I say go ahead.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
I Agree with what you just said but what's wrong with a controller? As long as this "controller" can do everything a "hardware" drum machine can do, plus more, then doesn't matter if it's a controller or a jet plane! lol I don't get your point! I get what you're saying but what's the point? That the MPCR isn't a MPC? ofcourse not, because it can do eveything an MPC can plus loads more! if you think otherwise then please care to mention. peace.
DarkMilkKid 1 month ago
@DarkMilkKid That's sad considering I stated "my point" in the video. *smh*
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@DarkMilkKid basically if you are producing HipHop for ex. you do not need thousands of plug ins, sofisticated reverbs...you need a good ear, a lot of vinyls, and a rock solid sampler that you can put near a turntable and rock on it.
flaviobos 1 week ago
Personally I have a Maschine Mikro in my homestudio. It is simply to bad to have USB cables around, to start up a mac, start a software, etc. Therefore my samplers are just perfect. A turntable and MPC/MV...seriously Hip Hop do not need special effects. IT would just be nice to have a sort of interaction for "post production" such as cutting and arrange tracks on a Mac/PC.
flaviobos 1 week ago
But what if the computer needs a system recovery or an OS Update and your plugins are gone? This will never happen with a standalone MPC. One button, green or blue light on the screen and you are good to go.
flaviobos 1 week ago

@TheSummerSun7 Oh no, not Dirty D from PootyTang. Hahahahhaha!

ahhh a mere $1,300 in this economy.

@TheSummerSun7 Somebody give this man some applause!

Lol waaaack
DigitalDevilXL 1 month ago
@DigitalDevilXL Thank you. I'm glad someone can see through the BS. They're trying to lure everyone in with this "back in the day" advertising. Those of us that know better know Numark owns Akai now and the quality has been going down ever since. You can't fool me.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
tasherredenajetic, thanks for taking the time out to outline the specifics for those over taken with excitement.
94style 1 month ago
@94style First off I'm not impressed. From the videos I watched from NAMM the software looks very convoluted and complicated.Second, Akai is owned by Numark now and hasn't produced the 3000 in a couple decades. I highly doubt it will be the exact same outputs as the 3000. Third, that sceen on the MPCR looks garbage. It really gives me the impression that it will eventually go bad like many of the old MPCs did. They dressed it up in new clothes but its the same chick. I'm good.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@94style One last thing, in all the videos I watched over the last weekend NOBODY is playing this thing. That's a huge red flag right there.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
The day it hits the market it will be the best drum controller on the Market PERIOD.
TeamBluePrint 1 month ago
@TeamBluePrint Doubt it. A beefed up "controller" with garbage software does not excite me.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
Only thing good about this..is a lot of goofies gonna be getting rid of their 3000's, 60's, 4000's for the low low....I'm snagging as many as I can! Just like when cats start recording to hard disk and ADAT soooo many 1" tape machines got sold!

@TheSummerSun7 Smart man. BTW its $1299 but Akai will not be getting money. NI for life.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
Sell the Software and use a MPD with it...software probaly won't be worth jack tho' if sold alone as it's only 64 seq tracks...I'd say $50 just for the software
TheSummerSun7 1 month ago
Summertime, watch how many people who hating on akai switch and go get the mpc r.
sunahura 1 month ago
The new MPC line will revolutionize computer base workflow and akai is still keeping thier hardware line, UPS to akai, they have taken back the thrown, I;m getting my money together now. I've studied many Namm 2012 vid and hey! this shit is a breath of fresh air, take your laptop with you, come back to the studio hook it up, priceless.
sunahura 1 month ago
@sunahura you can do that with maschine.
my full size maschine fits just fine in a laptop bag. so studio on the go and its very thin.
mpcr $1299 mpc studio $599 and mpc fly $399 look on someones face when they buy akai mpcr and see that it is not what they thought priceless.

@sunahura I'm a little late responding but I'm good. I'm really not impressed by MPCR and won't be wasting my money.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@sunahura there is no evolution here akai just was diggin in the spare parts bin and said hey lets take all these extra parts that normally wear out and put them in a plastic shell that looks like an mpc and add a screen from the 2500 make the pads a grey translucent color light them up put a wrist pad on it like back in the day make it white so if its in a smoke filled room it will turn yellow put a interface on it so it looks correct in the rear. stick akai on it followed by mpc. chaching!!!!!
MeMpHiSsLiM20 1 month ago
@MeMpHiSsLiM20 true, this was a nice debate, but after studying the maschine videos and really researching, I got to say I think maschine is the better machine overall, I got to go get me one. However I still will be testing the MPC R when it comes out.

It can also be used stand alone with out a computer.
mikeannike 1 month ago
@mikeannike Now if this company that no one knows about can make a hybrid that can also be used standalone. I don't know why akai would even step into the game and try to take the market from maschine without having this ability. I mean it already has a usb slot , just add a rechargeable battery to it, and keep it form factor slim in the process. This would create a true hybrid that would kill the market imo. Top it off with the fact it has the real geniune mpc sound.
mikeannike 1 month ago
@mikeannike I'm very familiar with the Beat Thang. In fact I was anticipating at least a year before Maschine was announced and released. BT finally came out last year but I honestly don't know one person that owns one. As far as the true hybrid capability I've yet to see it be true. One thing I do know is that the software version is garbage. I was highly disappointed.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
@tasherredenajetic I haven't used personally, since no stores that I know have one. But based on what I could find on it, the hardware version has the ability to interface with the software version or be used alone as a standalone hardware device. I just thought that one of the bigger names would have thought to do this. Especially akai, since they're just stepping into the "hybrid" market. I do like the device from what i can see. They could have killed it by making it a true hybrid.
mikeannike 1 month ago
?, is there a system that support hardware and computer ability?

021kdu 1 month ago
@021kdu I honestly like the look and idea of the Studio better than the Renaissance. It's crazy to say but its true.
tasherredenajetic 1 month ago
akai renaissanc means : get a laptop...and thats 500 bucks more...we reach 1299 euros wich is still better than the 5000...6 gb of sounds...vst enable...no limitation of ram...it is the end of hardware here...its like that...hardware product are too expensive to produce...and dont bring enough benefits...sad but true...
021kdu 1 month ago
Hey brother, how do you feel about Traktor Scratch Pro 2? I've been a SSL user for some time now, but like Akai, I also feel they too are sleeping, and have gotten too comfortable being the status quo. Having tested Traktor Scratch Pro 2, I realized I can ONLY GET more creative while doing my live sets. I can honestly say Traktor's better than Serato.
Afrique 1 month ago
@Afrique I'm a huge Traktor fan. Nuff said. Plus if you do get into Maschine the integration between the two is awesome.

Still I love my old MPC , ...
sjenanoubis39 1 month ago
akai is deleting a lot of negative comments in their videos. i guess their "marketing strategy" didn't work out that well. :) why not save all the money they put into marketing and make a good sampler that will speak for itself? and maybe support their customers who bought their products? like the 1000 and the 2500. is it really so hard to see that this might work - good product with good support?
bassbasstwotwo 1 month ago
@bassbasstwotwo That's not a good sign if that's really happening.
