  • is there a tab somewhere for this?

  • He could sing & play bass but not for this song, Strummer did not play bass on the studio version for it was paul that wrote the line & the song for that matter - he sang it live on rythym guitar & joe played bass coz well what else was he to do, The Clash are the only band that matter !

  • sounds like havana affair of ramones but rchp´s version

  • this is part of the VANILLA TAPES in'it?...Joe played UKULELE...only Uke not a very interesting instrument...maybe George Formby OK

  • Hey! That's fuckin' great!

  • I'm in love with this! Brilliant!!!

  • such a great song & easy to play on bass guitar too...

  • 1:27

love the look of his bass!

  • it's just about to explode PENNY SMITH

  • every clash song paul played bass on is awesome!!! i wud nmae em but there's that many THE CLASH RULE!!

  • love that bassline!!

  • i love it! =]

  • Is that Paul Simonon playing bass on this version ?

Joe Strummer play the bass for this song live and I think for the album version.

  • Joe used to play this live yes, since Paul couldn't sing and play the bass at the same time, but on all accounts Paul did play it in studio. After all, live versions of Guns of Brixton always suffered because Joe wasn't that great a bass player anyway, so I don't see why Paul would let him play it in studio.

And I certainly assume it's Paul on bass here as well, he does seem to be directing the other guys from the bass players view.

  • this is an early version of Guns of Brixton, i guess

  • this is a demo version and Paul maybe playing. Paul only sang on the final version. He did not play bass. Great song

  • This sounds so rough :D lovely.........

  • paul simonon is the shit, greatest bass player in the world.

  • Well...maybe not in technique, but in attitude, ideas and sheer coolness, certainly. And he sure did come up with some pretty damn great bass tunes.

  • For a bloke who was once so broke and hungry that he ate the flourpaste used to put up gig posters, he's come a well deserved long way. Good man !

  • when they kick out your front door, how you gonna come?

  • with my hands on the trigger of my gun lol

  • fucking bass tune! i'll play that with my sousaphone.

  • wow never heard this before

it's really great you're putting everything they've ever recorded here.
