  • Forrobodó is derived from the expression FOR ALL BODY.

  • The name "forró" is derived from the word "for all", the old parties that "invaders" of England gave and said that these parties were for all, creating the name "forró".

  • @ANDREROSALVOS a palavra forro vem de "forrobodó" e não de "for all "

  • @ANDREROSALVOS

Some authors say "forró" is derived from "forrobodó", wich means "party"...

  • Look Up ZABOOMBA from CALIFORNIA...

  • he says são joão with impecable accent 0:57

  • Asa Branca em ingles ?caramba

  • Incredible! Unglaublich! Incredibile! Increíble! Incroyable! Fantasticno! Amazing song! LOVE!
  • the forro isn't the north of Brazil, but the northeast!

    even so, awesome :)

  • can someone upload the (Dublex Inc. Remix) of this song...it's listed as a SINGLE

  • @snowman4725 I came on here lookin for the same thing! lol

  • for all in the dark!!!

  • Awesome! Doubly so for having David Byrne!!!

  • Thank you everyone for all the nice comments!

  • umm... okay? ha

  • This happy tune should encourage everyone to plant 20 trees for every single on chopped ! Otherwise we're reaping desert clima and firestorms by the buckload.

(And need a lot of CO2 to let the lost plants grow again)

  • What a fantastic♪/‥but,A text translated Japanese into is not found!}TiiT‥oh,my gaa~

  • Fucking great!

  • very good!

I just love forró...I go out to dance and listen to these songs every week...

nowadays, all of our parties have forró the whole day =)

this version sounds very good, I hope i have the chance to go to US and join one of those parties...maybe show you a little of our way of dancing it :)

keep up the good job :)

  • O_o woww adorei

  • This is phenomenal!

  • Great job, but I detected a problem in the very beginning of the song. The singer starts a bit late, less that half a second.

    xxx

  • Just fell in love with this... and this is one of my favorite songs...

  • This new version of old "Asa Branca" is fantastic, I loved it!

    Congratulations!

    Folclore brasileiro transcendendo!

  • Comment removed

  • Continuando / Continuing... And so I say now, adeus Rosinha, Know in my heart Ill be back again Now I live in this big city, Such a long, long way away But when I hear that the rain is falling, Back to my home Ill return someday And the land one day will blossom, Like the green thats in your eyes And I assure you, my dear Rosinha, I will be back here, right by your side
  • Letra / Lyrics: When I heard the land was burning Like the bonfires of São João I asked God up there in His heaven What is happening to us now? What a hellfire, what a furnace, Not a tree was left alive And all my cattle, they lay there dying Even my horse, dear, did not survive And the white winged dove has flown now, Far away from this burnt land Ainda tem mais / Its not over...
  • Ficou foda a versão!

Its an awesome version! This is good to show a little bit of the brazilian culture to foreign people.

  • Alguem sabe a onde eu pode achar a musica asa branca do carnival? D:

Anyone know where I can find this song asa branca but carnival version?

  • Boa pergunta.

  • Hell yeah, thanks fellas.

  • Gente, isso ficou massa demais! Parceria maravilhosa com o Byrne!

  • Existe uma versão com legendas???

  • @marcioeelo

  • Absolutely wonderful!!!!

    Can someone write the lyrics?

    Thanks!!!!

  • The music sounds great in english as it is in portuguese.

You can find the lyrics googling "Asa Branca" and translating it into english :P may have some differences but you figure out

  • Valeu, David Byrne!

  • I'd suggest that David Byrne recorded "a porteira" from Sergio Reis. It would be so beautiful as "ASA BRANCA".

  • Smooth

  • Excelente..!!!

  • bom d++

  • that's good and old forro, from northeast brazil, adapted to a country-like tune.

but if u want to get a proper answer, try to be polite next time, asshole :)

  • i love the talking heads :D

  • there are still sooo many ignorant people in this world...

  • i would say ignorance is in the majority mate :(

  • Well done guys. Need more crossover Forro songs like this in English. Love it.

    Kleber

  • By the way. A versão não está ruim não. A original será eterna, mas nota 8 pra galera do forro in the dark.

Avioes, solteiros, calcinhas etc... MORRAM TODOS na fogueira da mediocridade.

  • Mas o arranjo está ótimo. Mas achei o vocal meio country... sei lá... hehhehe

  • greece people, in brasil we speak portuguese not spanish. Do you like to be confunded with an Albanian?

    be smart with no ofense

  • hasuhuashuahsuas

    mto show!

    gostei...

  • nosotros vamos al brazil!!!!!!!

    Greetings from greece

  • WoW! Nice version!! Love Asa Branca!! Nice to hear english version, although I do prefer brazilian version. Luiz Gonzaga is immortal. :)

    Greetings from Brazil. ^^

  • So nice to hear this versin in English! Well done!

  • laugh at what? maybe at the fact that you are insensitive to (ggod) music?

  • i need to laugh.

  • laugh at what? maybe at the fact that you are not at all sensitive to understand what (good) music is?

  • what do you need to laugh at?!

if you don't have anything good to say, don't make ignorant comments.

  • Lindo, ai que saudades do Brasil... =..(

  • J'aime!

  • why the Americans come heard our music if they speak so badly of Brazil! they go back in the Disney

  • what?

  • nicely done!

thank you for keeping forró alive and for divulging it for an international audience. it is amazing how forró´s thematic is so universal - this becomes obvious when it is sang in English. Asa Branca could very well have been written by Dylan of Armstrong or someone like that. It is also revitalizing for forró to be filtered by NYers. It would be interesting a luiz gonzaga songbook all in english.

  • Sencillamente... HERMOSO!!!

  • Perfeito!!

    Muito bom!

    I just loved it!!!

  • Well done

  • Então... Viva o Nordeste brasileiro!

Viva Luis Gonzaga! Viva o Brasil! Forró in Dark, rocks!

  • I've loved this song for a long time (first heard it by Joao Gilberto) and this version is original and fun! I missed Forro in the Dark when they were in Chicago last year, but I'll catch them for sure next time. David Byrne fits in so well with them!

  • Of course, amazing sound and David Byrne ( God) is such an advocate of South American music (rei momo- amazing) and sounds so appropriate in that genre. I will admit, I am amazed the song is from 47. I assumed that it was in reference to rainforest clearing for cattle. i am going to keep thinking of it that way, 60 years old or not.

  • Interesting how an 1947 song get popular in States now. This one is the Third Greatest Brazilian Song of all time, tied with the "Chorinho" Carinhoso, this one composed in 1917...

    Good job!

  • Luis Gonzaga is the greatest popular musician of all time!

  • This music isn't from Luiz Gonzaga, although he owns the copyrights. He himself admitted that it was a folcloric music well known in Juazeiro and in Ceara for a long time.

  • maccs,

rodrigo is correct, this is a traditional song from the sertao that Gonzaga adopted.

  • This song ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great brazilian song

  • I discovered them randomly in a music store and I fell in love with the sound!

  • so nice!!

  • AWESOME!!!!! I LOVE IT!! Come to the Philippines, please... lol :P

  • perfeitos! :*

  • awesome!
