@bballerguy0812 I have seen Eyes Wide Shut, and that movie also makes me want to eat a bullet, as much fun as watching a sexually frustrated midget with a big nose walk around for two hours is.
I'm a great admirer of Ligeti and I do believe that the piece was exceptionally pertinent in regards to the film, however even something like Chopin's Op. 10 No. 12 shows great distress. What do you think about Alkan's Prometheus Bound (50 Ans) from the Grande Sonate? I find that to be a very a heart-wrenching and anguishing piece to listen to.
ok ok, brought a spoon to feed you some Art! Bravo to Maetsro Ligeti, but this kid is a bit off... put some spirit in to it, no place for mere mechanicus in Music!
You don't have to know anything in order to listen to this piece. It just enhances the experience if you know that with this pieces, Ligeti was re-inventing his music, after his older, more folk-style music was banished from performances by the socialist government because of "too many dissonances".
That's exactly the point. First piece is one tone. this is the second one, so there are only two tones. (not three) The twelfth piece has all twelve tones.
You are absolutely right. The first piece has two tones, the second has three etc. Good to know there are still people around who can hear more than two tones...

What a complete piece of crap...I just watched another piece of his, that Devil's Staircase thing. Was this Ligeti guy a composer for real? I think he was just underestimating people's intelligence.

Eyes Wide Shut was not a scary movie, but for some reason they felt the need to put in this terrifying sounding piano song.

Tuning? I'd say it needs tuning voicing, and some steinway style stringing felt on dead end wouldn't hurt...
