  • Yes, in UK they let you wait on deathbed for weeks before take you in, 'cause there are 10 hundred people waiting ahead you for their free cold treatment, and you have to wait NHS save your ass out before your corpse goes stink

  • My question is .... if no one is denied health care in the US, Why these people died? Life is more important than money, Why didn't people got deeply in debt to save their own lives? Also, if there's no jail for these debts, If people can;t pay them, the only consequence would be have a lousy credit score. That's not the best possible scenario but at least people would live.

  • @JohnLennon100 Your mama never die? where you from? Mars? On our planet, human dies.

  • Aw, youthful Phil, There are PhDs and Maths geeks hard at work on these problems at the Harvard School of Public Health if not every SPH. Nice being universally health careing!

  • UK-NHS yay

  • good review..

  • Even non profit companies still need to achieve profit every year, its just that their percentage of profit is lower.

  • 561 people are the top 1% of the rich people in the world that doesn't want to hear this. =P

  • Im sorry 561, i cant hear you over my FREE HEALTHCARE

  • 561 are all Americans.

  • 560 people disliked this video>? I have no idea why.

  • Michael moore is not the "left version of ann coulter"..for starters, moore uses facts and cares about people. also, he eats and is married.

  • @SeerSucker1981 hahahah

  • adam sandler!

  • You get a mention because of your views on this film in my university essay. Congrats PhillyD =)

  • The problem isn't profits through voluntaryism (not what we have today). The problem is coercion through statism.

  • @mikeshanklin stephanmolyneuxwhat???! ;)

  • lol why does sxephil look like a guido? xD

  • i know this is an old video but the great thing about the truth is that its timeless. what was true then is true now. while the truth can not be changed it can be replaced with new truth. i hope this country will replace the painful old truth with progressive new truth.

  • Why is there a backlash against universal health? Are all those people demonstrating against it working for insurance companies? I mean really, why isn't it supported? You don't have to quote an insurance number to get the police to stop someone robbing you - do you? Or do you!?!

  • PaPlease people start voting we need ur Votes to make a difference so please VOTE WE NEED YOU VOTE BADLY:{

  • I goggled 'the situation in america' and I got quite a different image than I thought I would..... IT'S LIKE THE ABS WENT ON FOOOOOREEVVVVVVEEEERRRRR......

    my eyes are dead....

  • No, dumbass, hospitals are there to lose money. Cuba has banned 'SICKO' because Castro doesn't want all his citizens to flock to doctors and hospitals for their so called free healthcare.

  • It's funny how Americans are. He said we're in this together, and he's absolutely right, but unfortunately that's not the typical American worldview. We love our country sure enough, but we don't give a flying shit about eachother.

  • I like that "google" is a verb now. "Google it"... but good video phil and hey, maybe Obama watched this video and was like, "oh hey! that's a pretty good idea"

  • well...we're even more f'd up now than we were in 2007...

  • u were boring here...I LOVE U NOW!!

  • Your videos are so deep. :D *reference to older video*

  • every american need watch this move SICKO is great movie

  • Aww, lil Pilly

  • CANADA ROCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • PHIL!I was going to watch this movie tonight actually and its so weird because i randomly stumbled upon your blog and subscribed. I think you should make a like slideshow i guess you would call it of your subscribers saying (like over a webcam) a powerful short message in regards to what you just talked about, to see all the different faces and emotions of all the people who want to see change....i think that would be cool and very powerful since you have so many subscribers.........

  • universal health care is shitty health care... i no im a canadian. stay with the private version please before u all get screwed with cheap service

  • @2edude333 I am french and i think that universal healthcare is GREAT

  • @milky0candy you're so lucky, america blows when it comes to this shit.

  • @2edude333

I can prove this comment is American.

    1. Health Care system in Canada is excellent.

    2. You can't spell.

    3. Learn how to form sentences correctly.

See, I proved you are American.

Before you speak on a topic you should really understand the subject before you perceive to understand it. And ask an adult to check your spelling and grammar.

Last one, don't lie to push you're own agenda

  • Wow, just....Phil. You're pretty damn insightful here.

You already had my respect due to your wit and sarcastic nature. But add on top of that a person with levelheadedness and the ability to REALLY address something, and you have every ounce of my respect at this point!

  • If you really think your healthcare companies are sharing their profits with your doctors, and that their education/skill is in any way related to the profits your heathcare companies are making, then I gues your healthcare companies have successfully put so much shit in your head they can happily go on making more profits from American deaths.

Profit making companies have no business in healthcare.

  • Ya but the thing is yo u could have. But of course its much more important to go waist tax money on two wars overseas and have young Americans get killed. If thye spent the money they spent in those wars on their people then yes you could have.

Im not supporting Obama's place im talking more Generally.

In the US health care is a for profit business, well like everything else, which his sad to have corporations get rich on people dying.

  • although I'm stating the obvious the government is too busy looking out for the corperations when the they should be looking out for the people's well being.

  • Being the black, non Obama supporting 6 year vet of a conservitive that I am, I would begrudgingly agree that i'd be a good thing if government could pay for everyones health care. I'm so much against the idea of us doing it is because its US doing it. With the way our government works (my computer almost crash for putting those two words together) and the system we already have in place now it would be a terrible idea for us. In a country where we write laws to by off votes.. freeHC bad idea

  • sure but its almost shameful, to have the worlds most powerful nations who can't even provide free health care to its citizens like in most industrialized nations. In that sense America is very backwards.

  • Hey, in Canada we pay 13% taxes but we get free healthcare!

  • Hey, that's because there are about 1/10 the amount of people in Canada, and Canada doesn't spend any money on anything but themselves. Glad to help.

  • LOL

Its the same for every country.... Even when the US spends money for 'others' its with their interests in mind, just like any other nation, they're no exception. In this domain its undeniable Canada is ahead by a long shot.

We may have 1/10 of the amount of people that you do BUT you have much greater resources, so that argument is kinda invalid. Plus if you didn't waist tax money on two wars, which by the way are basically illegal, then you wouldn't be in such a mess.

  • You cannot compare the two systems, two countries, because the two vary on levels uncountable by anyone in any position of power or paid intelligence. Therefore, to state that Canada has a good health care system is pointless because it would not work here in America. I can tell an orange that an apple tastes better then it does, but that's not going to make any difference to the orange because IT'S NOT AN APPLE! I hope this helps, I really do.

  • I never said to apply the exact same system In the US that is in Canada..... I Just said that something is needed, and I didn't really compare anything, I just said one was better than the other. Basing myself on the fact that we don't go bankrupt for care, and things like that you know?

And that is true for many other systems in other industrialized countries.

  • you loook so different

  • canada universal health care ftw!

  • @b0bs0 ya, canadas pretty freaking awesome.

  • @b0bs0

But that is a double edged sword, seeing as it is severely underfunded and I am Canadian I know.

The wait lists for surgeries are years long, along the lack of doctors who don't give 2 shits and the new doctors coming out of med school go where the money is because that is all they care about.

I wish our government would stop pissing money down the drain on stupid shit and put money in health care and things would be better, but it's not. So it's not that great.

  • i actually liked the movie sicko

  • hay phil if u get this then could u do a video for the end of the year whear u look back 3 years ago, just an idea

  • You warned us.....now look where we are.......

  • WHOO! CANADA!

    'tis my homeland! =D

  • Thats so Immortal Technique :)

  • You should become a lawyer

  • Dude, the new health care system if passed will provide health care to more people, but the problem with it is you WILL get put on a waiting list. How long will that take? God knows.

  • problem you just said... ok, the same thing you said back in 2007... lol.. anyways, after watching his other movies, i got to thinking about him and his movies... and something brilliant happened... i came up with an idea... micheal moore is a buisness man... he's selling his movies to us. he's making movies that will open our eye's sure, but he's also making a buck off of it... which i can understand, he has to pay the bills... but anyways, more about the movie... i watched my grandma's dvd

  • i personally watched this movie, and i personally loved it myself... however this being the case, i though "micheal moore is the shit... i'm gonna tell everyone about this movie and others he's made because this man is an individual who knows his government and can explain it to people who aren't as educated or get confused by it, and he's not afraid to stand his ground..." and i did... i told everyone about this brilliant guy... then i watched some of his other movies... and found the same

  • you should totally become a debater

  • This is your best video

  • haha oldschool sxephil...

  • YOu look like frankenstain

  • Another reason that government control is better in a multi-party democracy, is that they WANT to make you happy so that they stay in power. Corporations just wanna make money for themselves.

  • The whole film sicko is basically an argument for liberal socialism. Centre-left politics. Because in a capitalist or neoliberal (very capitalist) society the only concern of everyone is JUST profit. With universal health care, universal education, etc you pay taxes so that what you need is paid for by the government. If you don't like how the government handles health care, VOTE EM' OUT. You can't vote out corrupt corporations.

  • first of al, i didnt see the movie, i live in the netherlands and here we have the sistem he praises, and when i heart it doesnt exist in amerika i was, well suprised to say the least, but then i hear obama wants to change it, so bisicly, what i want to ask is, is obama doing something about it?

  • y dont u be canadian :)

  • your fucking weird and stupid and talk like a fucking weirdo i cant wait to get the fuck out of this country.

  • Sicko was a great movie. I saw this the other day. I couldn't believe how fucked us Americans are on health care compared to other countries. I can't believe how much money we pay into medications, when other countries are getting them at a shockingly lower price. This movie made me cry. Not only was it an eye opener.. just like Phil says.. you're not very patriotic once you realize that are great country.. well.. isn't so great afterall.

  • He did'nt go after Hillary Clinton, she pushed for Universal Healthcare back in 1993

  • sxephil was so different back then! lol. He's more quiet and calm in this video.

  • this calm voice actually little freaks me

PHILIP DE FRANCO 4 PRESIDENT =P

  • You don't seem to know much about socialist health care. It sucks. With socialist health care, you get less health care since the hospitals try to keep their budget (my brother would never be handicapped if he was born in USA). Everything is ineffective and nobody cares cause nobody gains from rationalising the system. You get to wait months and months for surgeries and procedures that you get done the same day in USA. You should educate yourself.

  • What you fail to understand about the health care that's currently in place in USA is the fact that it ISN'T free. Not everyone has it. So basically "socialist" health care is good because EVERYONE has it, whereas that isn't the case in USA. And you mentioned how nobody cares, well, in fact, nobody cares MORE right now, that's why that health care costs money. Health care for everyone, however "ineffective" is always better than expensive health care for some people.

  • Hey, health care is not free in Sweden either. We pay for it with higher taxes. We don't get much health care per "buck" though, since the health care is so excruciatingly ineffective. The best way to solve this would be to have free health care for the poorest, and those who can afford it should pay for health care. Best of both worlds.

  • Here in the U.S. the VAST MAJORITY of the population doesn't have the money to pay for surgery, since it costs 10s to 100s of thousands of dollars. Hospital stays are $1000 dollars an hour. Giving birth costs $28,000. Meds have costed me and my family 2-10 dollars a pill at times. Ultrasound costs 1000 dollars. CT scan costs 1.5-3 thousand dollars. Oh, and when I waited for the doctor for 5 hours in the emergency room one time, I still got charged 5000 dollars for absolutely nothing!

  • You're the one who need the educate himself. My sister wouldn't be able to smile today if it wasn't for canadian healthcare. She was born with nerve damage to her face, and was able to obtain the surgery to be able to have facial muscle control thanks to our healthcare system, because my parents sure as hell wouldn't have been able to afford it in the states. I have a lot more positive to say about our system than I do about the American one.

  • yay sxephil i am all for the public option also and i also hate people who r mean to others for what is supposed to be a birth right and that is the right to live

  • ахуеть, страхи какие. гыгы

  • HOLY JESUS! you HAVE changed.... A LOT!

  • You have changed alot... lol still like this video, 5*s.

  • i actually think he had more interesting ideas back then

  • "The war on oil."

    I laughed. :P

  • jesus! you've changed a LOT! fortunately you look better nowadays. ;)

  • When someone is dieing, they will get the surgery or whatever they need regardless. They might be in debt but they will still get help as in from a car crash or something . Also for universial health care, people wait in line to get a simple check up all day in Canada and where ever else. Health care is a privliage, not a right. I'm not saying that the current health care system is correct, it needs to be reformed. But just because the current system is flawed doesn't mean to resort to Uni HC

  • Thing is, in Sicko Michael Moore points to a lot of instances where people DON'T get whatever they need regardless.

I won't pretend to be as informed about how the health care system should be reformed as I might be, but I did want to point that out.

  • I had surgery on my ACL and LCL from playing football, it would've been $1,200 (with Insurance) should I had it fixed in the U.S., got my surgery done in Canada through my dad and paid $0

I Don't know about you, but Universal HC is a "win" in my book.

  • i don't think you've seen the movie

a good comparison is if a restaurant knows you don't have enough money to pay why would they serve you? its the same with health care

  • You do realize that you can have the same effect of that without Uni HC? Its like everything thinks that Uni HC is the only way to go and the most efficient way. I don't think the government should have the power to deny you if you should have treatment or not. The government will have that power with uni HC. Therefore i suggest a modified Uni HC where it doesnt give the government the power but more of a balance of powers. The government can be easily corrupted as the corp.

  • i dont see where this fear of government comes from!

the governments is made to serve the people, not itself

  • Yes governments are intended to serve the people. But in reality people serve the governments.

  • and who runs government? people

that is because this county is a supposed democracy

i don't think it is but thats what it is supposed to be

  • No, not really. There's a government behind the government that you don't know about, or anyone who reads this comment; and if you do, kudos to you, good sir.

  • @xLtshinysidesx I live in Sweden, we've got universal health care, and I've never even once been denied treatment. I've had 4 complex open heart surgeries to date (waiting for a fifth one), and it didn't cost me anything. We're currently one of the top three countries in the world when it comes to treating (and researching) congenital heart defects... those other two countries? Canada and the U.K.

  • Because in healthcare, you could die because of refusing treatment, and because they charge 3-5 times as much as in PRIVATE HOSPITALS abroad. If you take in the amount that governments outside the U.S. subsidize for healthcare, it could cost an EU citizen 10-20 times less than a U.S. citizen to get the same treatment, and often times its done more quickly and efficiently. U.S. hospitals have ignorant, lazy, bloodsucking doctors/staff.

  • Wow Phil.. Im from Norway and if you did not know this Norway was going to be in the SiCKO movie but, Michael Moore did not think you guys would belive him if he told you how we got it here :) But yeah, I agree with you, America needs to do something with this NOW!! Obama got to star doing something!! Btw, love your videos man, I'm one of your biggest fan and I'm NOT kidding :P But anyway, have a nice day man :)

  • wow, and this was all before the healthcare reform, it'd be a much better place if people took phil's advice to get educated, cause then like it or not people would at least know what the fuck their talking about.

  • well for the people who are dying of cancer its not very socalist, its your discision, theyll ask you if you want health care, i bet if you get cancer you wont be acting the same way you are now.

  • So you rather take a chance being denied health care, if you really needed because you don't want to live in a society that was mad evil, because our enemies had universal health care. Wow! So basically everybody who has universal health care are socialist. Watch the movie and you will see. Do some research!

  • i agree with you (even though i live in canada) when someones dieing and cant afford medicine or surgery they should get it

  • wow how many random videos like this did you make :l

  • He is skinnier here lol

  • omg your voice is so.....weird haha

it is weird to look at the video and realizing that it is you

  • hhahaaha woow

  • U kinda look like frankinstein with your hair like that.

  • OMFG you sound so different! Congrats on going through puberty! lol

  • and you're an idiot, just shut up

  • You have very liberal views for being independent. If you want canadas health care you are an idiot cus there's is so bad most canadians come to the us for medical care. Try to ge an MRI in Canada it takes forever which suck for those who really need them fast and could die

  • where did you learn that texasfootballisking?? on Fox News? if you actually watched the movie or spent some time on doing some research on this topic, you would understand that Canada has a better system..it's better to wait for a while and then get help, than waiting and don't get help..

  • At least they get it. In the US you have to pay a lot of money to stay alive. Don't listen to the government, educate yourself, don't let the media and government educate you in these kinds of things.

  • you're actually really fucking stupid buddy lol.

the u.s is KNOWN worldwide for abnormally shitty healthcare.

and actually, my grandma just got an MRI, and it was fucking easy.

so shut ur mouth unless u know what ur talking about

  • oh, so i guess thats why Canadians come across the border all the time to get medications right?

  • How would they get them in the U.S. on a normal salary? I've had meds that cost 2-10 bucks a pill, for stuff that illegal drugs would have been cheaper to use instead. There are other countries where in the world where health care works, and its cheap. I had 17 blood transfusions in Israel, and I actually had the same waiting room experience as in the U.S., minus the $1000 an hour for a hospital bed (I'm not joking, that's how much they charge, even if they're procrastinating service).

  • @arebeast well thats because those canadians are rich and have money. Plus I know A few Americans who go abroad, My school teacher when i lived in San diego he drove to Mexico for dental treatment. A friend of mine who is studying to be a nurse flew to Belgium for heart surgery. Then a neighbour of mine flew to Japan to get cancer treatment.

  • @texasfootballisking keep beleiving the BS from FOX NEWS.

  • I love you man, but yea like you said "look at Canada" well yea look at them because of their health care system they are having to wait a certain amount of time to have a surgery no matter whether they need it right then or not. and any person in the US if they have a urgent medical need can go to the ER and be taken care of. and when you take profit out of the equation there is no incentive to work or drive harder to be successful. My family is from Canada they say we are blessed over here.

  • yea, blessed with higher crime rates and more murders..xLPSx

  • I agree with you we do not crack down as much as we should on crime in America, very true... DeathWarrant90

  • you make me not want to move to america

    YOU SEE WHAT YOU*VE DONE!

you've ruined my career i need usa to go to school, damn you defranco

  • so very true, i watched sicko in class and i was disgusted at the way the health care system treats people in america. i mean is it okay to watch someone die just because they don't have insurance. that's bull. canada kicks ass.

  • this is why amiricia is bad uk good

there is lots of great things about amaricia but also bad things

  • I........love.......you.......Phil

  • I tottally agree. Check out this great article from the CEO of Whole Foods Market: online.wsj(dot)com/article/SB10001424052970204251404574342170072865070.html

  • And this is why it's good to live in Canada :)

  • OMG I just got done watching the movie. It was f*cking beautiful. At the end when you see the people come together had me in tears. And just to think we don't do this is America and we're the only ones who don't do it. It's insane how money drives people to be so unsypathetic to how they treat people who fall on hard times, especially these times now.

  • Vote No to Obama Health care Tax Scam

  • i rather know that a doctor will eventually treat meand wait a month than not see one at all ... even though that isnt really the case in universal health care countries

  • If EVERYONE has health care, think about how over crowded hospitals are already. EVERYONE will b going2 the hospitals and they will be backed up 4 miles. I went 2 the hospital last year sat there 4 8hours and got sick of waiting and went home, then got written up at work b/c I couldn't get a doctors note. I waited 8 hours! and there was no health care reform. Well every dumbass with a head cold will be flocking to hospitals, u'll b lucky2 c a doctor in th same week!We need sound money not reform

  • Then how does every other country do it?

While i agree there are more ppl in america, i think their can be a hybrid of both canada and america health care, but thats my opinion

  • I highly believe gov't health care is not only possible but even more effective. However I think we need 2 worry about restoring the economy 1st, and then we could address this problem. I would love to see it done, I just think it will cause more turmoil than good in the state we are currently in. I would LOVE to be wrong about it, I'm no expert, I just want to see the restoration of our dollar more than anything and also an end to the war. Despite the perversion in our country I stand behind it

  • The current state of our economy shows that you cannot hybridize socialism and capitalism. It simply doesn't work. Private companies cannot compete against the government who funds themselves by forcibly taking as much money as they want from citizens through taxes.

And it's actually far harder to get healthcare in Canada than it is in the US, in spite of the fact that people have paid for healthcare there.

  • in britain we have free health care which everyone and anyone gets. but it dose have its problems like over crowding and long waiting times, but it means every one gets a fear chance of getting treated for free.

  • Yeah, we don't have that problem in Canada...

The longest I've ever waited was 3 hours and that was just with a bad rash. Imagine how much faster you would go through with a broken leg.

  • I think health care reform is possible, but I think it's retarded to keep investing more and more of tax payer money into insufficient programs like our postal service and railroads both money losing ventures when they could easily be made profitable w/ some speculation. Our country is in a recession that is gradually getting worse, were fighting a war and FUNDING BOTH SIDES of that war, our dollar is just a fiat, our nation is slowly dieing we simply can't afford it until we fix other problems

  • The recession might be why, because up here in Canada, apparently the recession is over...

I do agree though. They should be fixed before changed.

  • i believe our unemployment rate is still going up.. I hope something good happens, I think until these centralized banks are put in check were just going to continue feeding there personal interests and damaging the world as a whole. If your recession really is over I'm glad to here it

In regards to what Phil says about insurance companies just trying to make a buck the same goes for lobbyists and congressmen who accept bribes to help pass legislation that has certain personal interests in mind

  • Counts where you live in Canada.

  • Rachel Maddow looks a bit different here?

  • Very informative.

  • Your description of privatized medicine is only half the equation. Yes, the less money put out the more money will be taken in. HOWEVER, if they don't provide adequate service, customers will go to the places that do. The problem with private insurance is that it's reduced the competition...

In regards to Sicko, Moore did not visit the average Cuban hospital where some patients die from starvation due to neglect.

Watch "20/20 Sick in America." (here on YouTube) It's pretty informative.

  • Sicko was pretty out of whack, I mean I live in the UK and the NHS isn't anywhere near what he described it to be

Saying that, for its faults it does really work. If you've got the money, you can go private if you want and get A++ care. If you don't you have the NHS, which for the most part is just as good. Same day appointments, student or under 18 you get free dental, eye treatment, drugs, not to mention other advantages. I've had major surgery through it and not payed a dime.Nomorecharacters

  • You can't take anything Michael Moore says seriously.

  • i saw this movie in school, and now im very happy i live in canada

  • lol the only things i know about pollitics is from the daily show and colbert

  • wow u were really different, now u sound less educated lol

  • ~is gonna watch the movie sicko right nao~

    Would re-comment

  • Ha... weird movie.

Altough I've always thought like that (And I've always wanted to live in london)

  • You really don't. It's horribly expensive to live there and you get shanked for breathing. I'm british and I can't even understand what people say there. It's like an even more ignorant new york only with bad teeth and big ben.

  • big... ben... ftw...

Anyway, I don't like my country as well, I'd figure our how to speak "british" and I am just curious (I'm gonna leave my country anyway, yet I don't know where I'd go yet, I'd test each and every country I wanted to live in THEN I'd get ready to move)

  • lol Well good luck getting used to the London Speak.

Funny enough, before the end of the year I'm goin to America for a year or two. If I like it, I'll be moving permanently!

  • Just like youtube!!!

  • Thank god you got funny man!! :L

  • thank you for recommending this movie!

  • right to the point, good job

  • insightful!

  • think this is back in the tin foil hat, self righteous stage........... eh Phil?

  • I love Sicko. I live in the UK so health care isn't privatised. But I have to admit Sicko is partial towards not having health insurance and the beginning had me gagging though, (eww at the guy stitching himself together). Nevertheless I enjoyed the film.

  • you were not that funny back then

    too smart

  • haha u look so much younger compared to your newer vids! ;)

  • I probably because I'm british but I really don't understand the american healthcare. Here I can receive free healthcare, It's not perfect and yes there are waiting times but not if it's an emergency and If you have the money and don't want to wait then you can get private healthcare. People will always complain about paying taxes but it's a part of life so I'm used to it. I'm just really glad I don't live in America. your government seems to screw you rotten

  • SiCKO was probably one of Michael Moore's most biased films. The U.S. isn't the only healthcare system with flaws, Canada has just as many flaws. In Canada, you can go to the emergancy room and recieve treatment for free, but you will probably have to wait 6 or 7 hours until you recieve that treatment. Michael Moore definitely did not cover health care systems from all points of view and it looks like he even got someone as smart as you to side with him against the American health care system.

  • yeah ur naive...once you get home from the emergency room you will be receiving a nice bill especially if you stay over night you seem those nice little cozy romms yea they go for over $1000 a night :-)

  • He looks so young!

  • but youll probobly put your hands on your ears and close your eyes not listen any other persons opinion

  • SiCKO REViEW: shit movie with made-up "facts."

  • way to dismiss facts that you dont agree with,

    pretty juvinile of you

  • The only thing that has been dismissed so far is Moore's BS. Just because he's got his stubby buried in your kiester doesn't make him "factual." And now you're dismissed.

  • cool, but if you dont get free health care when you get cancer dont go crying m.m for help, miniumun wage wont get
